Thanks, that's very encouraging for a first timer to hear.

I'd say more like "I'm a paying customer here and I don't expect to be treated like an inconvenience".
Well, I agree with this.
Of course I respect the people who deliver my holiday experience, and I will empathise with the crew members who are busy, or who have a lot to do, or are travelling home, or who have luggage to move, etc., but it is their job.
On the other hand, it is my holiday. I paid a lot of money for it, and some of that - plus tips - pays their salary for which they are expected to be busy, have a lot to do, etc.
So come on people - you're showing signs of Stockholm syndrome here. But maybe that's a consequence of cruising.

We booked a Cunard rate 'Ultimate Upgrade' P2 guarantee at the end of May, for travel on 1st August.
Upgraded to Q3 on 18th June.

We're first time cruisers who took advantage of the 175th Anniversary pricing to book a guaranteed P2.
We've now been upgraded to a Q3.

I'll also be a first timer on the 1st Aug, and the tips from the more experienced, particularly regarding going ashore, are very interesting.
There was a link on a different thread to a web site that showed cruise timetables. This said that there'll be 3 other cruise ships in Santorini on the day we arrive - that's a potential 8000 visitors looking for a lift up the hill!
Have they got enough donkeys?

First time cruiser, booked a P2 guarantee as part of the 175th Anniversary, and recently accepted an upgrade to Q3 at what I thought was a minimal charge
Feeling very pleased with myself and looking forward to enjoying every minute of it.

Taking our first ever cruise on 1st August, and we're very excited to be travelling QG PH on QV (see - getting the hang of the jargon).
But we have a problem.
We have friends on the same cruise who will not be dining at the top of the ship, and who are worried they will be bombarded with breakfast pastries as this is a practice they have read about elsewhere on the Cunard forum.
Is this mandatory? We quite like the sound of it, as it seems a good way to break the ice with our new friends in QG. Should we a: throw the pastries but meet our friends afterwards for drinks in the Commodore Club or b: throw the pastries and stay with our new friends on the Upper Terrace, or c: ask our butler to throw the pastries?
Please advise - we don't want to lose our old friends, but feel the need to raise our game socially.
See you all on the 1st :)
What do you get in the Grills to make it worth the price?

Called Cunard today to ask about the QG personalised stationery; turns out it's personalised with the word 'Cunard'.
I though that was a bit disingenuous of them, so thought I'd cheer myself up and get the locator code for the flight so I could check in online; turns out it's a charter and you can't check in online or choose your seats.
This QG cruising is going to be tougher that I thought :D
