  1. Hey' date=' Rik. Haven't been here in a long while. I hope your surgery went well, and you're doing ok again. :)[/quote']

Hey Skip! Good to hear from you. I had my third surgery in December. They say I am fixed now. Hopefully they are correct and no more surgeries! Hope all is well with you. How was your Princess cruise? I am sailing on Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas out of Port Canaveral on June 5th. My first time on Royal. Come with us I know there has to be room for you on the ship. :)

I went on the Escape in April in a studio cabin. I made sure I didn't have a connecting cabin and didn't have any issues with noise.

  2. I will be sailing on Royal Caribbean on the Freedom of the Seas in June. This will be my first time sailing out of Port Canaveral. I am considering flying in and out of Melbourne for the cruise. Has anyone ever used that airport? How did you get to the ship? Any particular transportation company?

  3. Hey' date=' Rik! I was on the Getaway in September. We met at Hemingways. Did you book your December cruise? I had a connectiong studio room last year on the Getaway, and although the cabin itself was great, I had a terrible time sleeping because I could hear everything that went on in the connecting room.

If you did book it, maybe you'll get lucky and have a quiet neighbor. Another tip is try for a studio cabin somewhere in the middle of the hall. My cabin was near the front entrance where the service staff exits are, and I could also hear them pushing trolleys of dishes and glasses all night.

Hope you had a sensational time on the September cruise. I had a blast.

Hey Skip. Thanks for the advice on the studios. I loved the Getaway and wanted to go back but I have to have surgery tomorrow so I never booked a December cruise. I am looking at maybe February now. I want to sail on the Getaway again and there are different ports now. I am planning on going on the Escape in April with Lisa who I met in September. She was part of our group. Looks like your sailing very soon. Enjoy!

  4. I am thinking about booking a studio cabin in December on the Getaway. I have a question about the connecting rooms. Is there a lot of noise that comes through the connecting doors? I prefer not to have a connecting room but that's all that is left. I am concerned about the noise level. Any tips on this room from anyone who has stayed in a studio is appreciated.

  5. I was on that cruise as well and after speaking to people it sounds like HMC is missed a lot. One guy said out of seven cruises he has only made it there once. Is there a certain time of year your more likely to actually make that port? I really wanted to go there and was disappointed when the Captain made the announcement. Now I have another reason to book another cruise, so I can get to HMC. I just need to find out what time of the year is the best time to cruise and stop there or is it hit or miss?

  6. Hi rbflyer

just one day until we board….

Simon and I will probably head for the Vibe Beach club at sail away… and if there isn't any FOD advertised on the first say we will be in the Sugarcane Mojito bar around 7:30/8pm after taking our first trip to the spa!

    :)

Hey guys. I saw dailies from July and they had a FOD the first night. Hopefully they will have one tomorrow.

Our roll call is having a ship sponsored Meet and Greet on Sunday the 13th at 11am in Cagney's steakhouse. Join us if you would like to. A few of us from the roll call are having a pre M&G tomorrow right after the muster drill in the Sunset bar. If there is no FOD tomorrow I will check out the Sugarcane Mojito bar after that. Look for the bald guy by himself. :D

  7. I am a newbie who will be sailing on my first cruise on Sep 12th on NCL Getaway and I have already booked my second cruise on Carnival Conquest on Oct 12th. While doing my research I first came across your website, then your facebook page and now this. I have to say I really enjoy your reviews and am glad I found them. I only wish I could invite you for drinks so I could pick your brain about going solo on my first cruise. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and experience.

  8. Have taken spin on another NCL class. I just wore my sneakers, I wouldn't pack your spin shoes. FYI...the bikes were pretty worn and not in great shape. I am a regular spinner and would not waste the $12. Class again. I took classes on the Dawn.

Thanks for the reply Love2travel4. I am also a regular spinner at home. Since the Getaway is only a year old I am hoping the bikes are still in good condition.

  9. Has anyone taken the spin classes offered? I think I saw a video of the bikes and saw cycle shoes but I can't seem to find the video again. I plan on signing up for the classes and wondered if I can leave my shoes at home and have one less thing to pack. First time cruiser and I know I will over pack.

  10. This is wrong!! There is no FTTF on NCL. There is a designated place when you board that will check your carry on for you and give a claim check. At times you have to ask as you board the ship for directions.

Thanks rvsullivan. I will ask about that room when I board. My first cruise coming up next month!
