Our Cruise Agent generally compares the coverage and cost between RCCL and another company. She then decides which is best for the cost. She has never recommended having two insurance policies. A number of years ago I had to cancel a cruise two days before sailing due to a life threatening health problem. RCCL insurance paid the complete amount in about two weeks.

We sailed in March on EOS out of SanJuan. My passport expired two days after I returned from the cruise. I had no problems. I handed the cruise agent who was boarding us onto the ship. I made no comments other than handling him the passport and other paperwork. Guess what? In about 5 minutes we were on the ship looking for our Muster station. Have a great cruise.

We had our first post Covid cruise in March on EOS out of SanJuan. We had a wonderful time, perhaps one of our best cruises. The ship was at 45% capacity so that made a big difference. We will be going out on the AOS in August which will be sailing at or almost at capacity. I'm still planning of a great time!

We will be flying into EWR the evening before our cruise on AOS on August 18th, 2022. I had Marriott points so decided to stay at the Springhill Suites at EWR. Just wondering if anyone else had stayed there and had comments good or bad. Also any comments regarding their shuttle service.
Thank You;

Thanks to those who posted the link I've been curious about this for some time.

Many cruises ago I figured out you could never guarantee which way a ship was going to dock. I choose cabins for a handy location, mid ships but not by port or starboard.

Since we trust our Travel Agent she always books our cruises and insurance. Several years ago my late wife and I were scheduled for a 10 day Hawaiian cruise. My wife took a sudden turn for the worse health wise due to cancer treatment. Her downturn was only 3 days from the beginning of the cruise. We had to cancel our cruise and would have lost the complete cruise amount had it not been for travel insurance. Our TA took care of all the paperwork and we received a complete refund in about two weeks. Needless to say I insure all of our cruises from start to finish even b2b.

You're "keeping quiet" had nothing to do with it. Passsports are scanned. The agent barely looks at them. You breeezed through for the simple reasen your passport was not expiring before the end of the cruise
We boarded the ship at SanJuan and much to my surprise there were no scanners only a gate agent who inspected our documents.

We're thinking about using Walgreens for our August 18th cruise on AOS. How long after you submit the test at Walgreens is it before you receive the results?

Thank you for the Bermuda review. We're on the AOS on August 15th, 2022. It's a 9 night cruise with Bermuda being our first port of call. I am hoping but not counting on Bermuda stopping the 40 dollar per person cash grab before we cruise. Glad to here the ship, food and entertainment was nice. Anyone else on our cruise?

We bought the Ultimate package on a March, 2022 EOS cruise. This was the first time we've ever bought the ultimate package. We both agreed at the end of the cruise not to purchase the ultimate plan in the future. Frankly it was just too much food and we like the variety offered at other dinning venues offered throughout the ship. On our August, 2022 cruise on AOS we have purchased the three dinner special at $101 each. I'll let you know after the cruise how we liked it.

I traveled on EOS in March the cruise ended on March 7th. My PassPort expired on March 12th, 2022. I didn't catch it until just before the cruise. I presented my documents including the passport and said nothing. About 5 minutes later we were on the ship looking for our muster station. My recommendation is don't bring attention to your situation and all will be well. I now have a new passport ready for our August cruise.

We are on the AOS in mid August, 2022. We had all of our air plans booked and taken care of until Delta canceled almost all non-stops from CVG to Newark, NJ. Last week our TA had me on the phone while she dealt with Air2Sea and worked everything out. Within 30 minutes of the call our flights all showed up on our Delta app. Our TA was also to leverage several recent events to get a very very reasonable upgrade to first class air.

I am old enough to remember wearing a tux but that was many cruises ago. On our March, 2022 cruise on EOS I wore a dark suit and tie and Kathy wore black gown. You'll find every combination of dress as there is absolutely zero enforcement of any type of dress codes anywhere on the ship. I wore a uniform with a tie for 41 years of my life and several nights more doesn't make a difference. That said it doesn't bother us how others choose to dress as it's there cruise and we hope they enjoy it.

Thank you for all the great information. We also bought the three speciality restaurant package. We will probably divide our dinners between Izumi's and Chops. We also have purchased the end of cruise tour for Manhattan to EWG airport. Was the Valet option offered for luggage?

Can you comment on things to do at Labadee. Is there any beach activities that don't require purchasing some type of package?

Who assesses and collects the luggage fees? We fly with Delta and have our fees waived due to fare class or purchasing tickets using a Delta credit card.
Like you we generally fly FC and use AMX/Delta CC so luggage in no charge. The fees are collected by RCCL for the handling and transportation for the luggage to the airport. I found the fees to be very reasonable and worth the cost.

We are cruising on August 15th and will be coming in a day ahead of time into EWR. We are spending the night at the Spring Hill Suites which supplies a shuttle from the airport to the hotel. The day of the cruise we will either Uber or Lyft to the cruise port.

Following your post as we will be on the same cruise August 15th, 2022. Is it true it cost 40 per person for the Bermuda Health paper work and approval?

Watch several of the current YouTubes and you'll be good to go.We used those test on our cruise in March and intend on using them again in August. Good Luck, enjoy your cruise.

We were on the EOS in March and did the Chief's Table. It was wonderful and worth every penny. We had a great meal, great wine and a nice group of people. The Chief doing to event was very personable and made the event enjoyable.

On our EOS cruise in March our cabin tags didn't appear on our account for printing until three days before cruise day. I don't know if that's normal but that's what it was for us.

Kathy and I are cruising on AOS on August 17th, 2022 out of Cape Liberty. Our Cruise Agent Paz compared airfare and found for our trip Air2Sea was the best fare. Today she called to let us know Delta opened some special fare upgrades on our flights both arrival and departing. The upgrades allowed upgrading to first class for 100 each way or a total of 200 dollars per person round trip. Since flying first class gives you one free piece of luggage which lowers the total by 80 dollars per round trip. First class is important on our return flight as we don't have much time to catch our next flight in Atlanta. Travel agents just make a good trip a great trip, Paz has booked over 60 of my 70 cruises.

We've used this service many times and had no problems. I hope this service is available for our cruise in August as it wasn't on our cruise in March.

Passport Renewal
in Ask a Cruise Question

We just renewed our passports in March. Walgreens takes passport photos which was quick and easy. Download the forms, fill them out and dropped them in the mail. We couldn't believe when a little over two weeks later our new passports arrived and we did not use expedited service.
