Uh, no. There is only one system for water distribution onboard, just like in your house. The same water goes to the sink as the toilet. Take a look when one of the engineers has the door in the hallway next to a cabin open when working on a toilet problem. You will see the water supply to the cabin goes to the shower, the sink, and the toilet. And, no, not all "drinking" water on ships is from desalination, some is from municipal supplies in port. After 42 years at sea, I know how ships make, load, and use water onboard. No ship, particularly cruise ships, have separate water systems between potable and toilets. The only other type of fresh water onboard is "technical water" used in the engine room for cooling systems and the like, and the only difference between the tech water and potable water is the tech water has never been chlorinated. Many ships also use the condensation from the AC units to supply the laundry washing machines. Again, totally segregated systems.
Chengkp75 as always you are an incredible - AND most importantly, credible source of any information relating to water on a cruise ship - but you wont be able to sway readers here to any extent as most think they know way more,,,, sigh I wish that people that are credentialed to be "experts " in a field could have some kind of tag LOL Thank you again,

Sorry if this question has been asked already, I just recently started to follow this thread. It’s a very important question for the group we cruise with, is the Local going to carry chicken wings? From the description on ncl the Local sounds a lot like O’Sheehans, but there’s no mention of wings.

Someone else can chime in but ultimately until we board we won’t know for sure but, with that said yes, it does look like the O’Sheehans and the description does say 24 hr availability. As for Chicken Wings? Nobody here knows for sure yet but I for one will be very disappointed if they are not on the menu as that is a favorite late night treat on my part!!!

oh trust me - they ARE confused A LOT! I had a woman yesterday tell me that reservations are only at 90 days and not 100 for Haven/Suites without Haven proper - makes me wonder how much training they get
-
tip what you feel is appropriate its never an issue , i am sure people dont tip - just like people dont tip any extra on a cruise - i am sure anything you do is appreciated - i just know how crazy it is to drive into the city and how much gas costs there - the trip is about 30 minutes depending on traffic
-
LOL we had some pretty big and heavy bags - but no it was just the one way because both times the drivers were the same
-
we had 2 cars and lots of luggage for 7 of us - we tipped pretty well I believe $10/bag if I remember right = I have used this service twice and both times they were very punctual and very accommodating - the first time we had to meet them across the street from the port for the pick up but the second it was right at the port -

I am a gambler (sort of ) and a former smoker and man the stale and current smoke from those areas was terrible! Glad to see that it may be quarantined

As the title says I am booked on the Bliss in a 2 BR - I have been on the Breakaway 2 BR and the second room has a pull down - Wondered if on the Escape the 2 BR has the same configuration.

JZenkow - I need the fridge empty because I sore my medicine in it but again the reasons are irrelevant- the stewards are very busy the first day and many times depending on my ice pack needed to keep my medicine cold , I empty it and let the steward know where I have put it.

HAven is a joy on the Breakaway - we left our passports in the safe but we did make copies of them and brought those along on the excursion- there are " lockable" beach bags that you can bring along on the excursion and they can lock onto a chair . Search on Amazon - Don't try to tip before hand butler or concierge won't take it , they ask to wait till the end -there are lots of chairs in the pool area but not front and center always , there is also a second floor of lounges that is inside and then the areas outside too. Enjoy!,,

We have 12 more days then we are on the Gem in the Haven!!! Thank you so much for your very informative review! Even tough we hve been in the Haven on other ships this is our first on the Gem! getting very excited now!!

Take the mini buses go off the ship. Take a left and around the circle will be the mini busses . We went to Warwick beach and walked the trail to Horseshoe not a long walk and easy to stop at the beaches between to swim and end up at Horseshoe where there is food and showers . Look at Mitsugirlys reviews wealth of information

We are in the Haven in the Gem in 2 weeks! Can't wait , we were in the Haven on Breakaway and I don't think we can sail any other way now. If you can afford it then no matter if it in a smaller ship without a Resturant or in the Breakaway class my opinion is go for it !

Have seen this our last few cruises on Dawn and Breakaway but it does look like the times have been shifted - hopeful that this helps at least in some part the huge lines that occur. The one problem is this, people do not listen!!! they go when ever they want..
-
This is a great question and originally I thought I knew the answer! We were in the haven on the breakaway , we had 5 in the cabin and about 1 month before the sailing I tried to add my niece. Long story short even if the cabin shows it holds 6 ( in our case) we couldn't do it because of the lifeboat assignments. Someone with more knowledge than me can answer why but I can only assume they try to keep the families ttogether? And by that time our assigned boat was full ? Anyway call NCL or your TA they can tell you . Other than that if you can do it then yes

Sorry to co nfuse the issue , we bid on what is showing as a sold out cabin, we have not won anything yet , there are still 16 days to our sailing. If it suddenly is not occupied by the original people , I am sure NCL will not let it go unoccupied . There is only 1 class that we can upgrade to.

We have but are waiting on our sailing(18 days) we are already in the Haven so it doesnt really matter if we get the upgrade or not but it does show sold out on our cruise

This is completely subjective - Where do you live? We live in Northern NH and the low 60s are warm enough for shorts and flip flops here. The full day at sea if the weather permits should be wonderful but again depends on what you re used to!
-
Has anyone used the private photography services available on the ships? There seems to be zero information available on that service. If so what was the cost per hr? (I am assuming its an hour) I called NCL and they had zero information.
-
IF for some reason 16 is all filled 15 isnt bad either - all we had to do is go up 1 flight of stairs (in the haven) and we came out just off the concierge lounge
-
Thank you everyone that something constructive to say.
It always amazes me the "people" that reply on these boards that are not helpful. It reminds me of when people say -" they talk just to hear themselves talk. " My family is not new to cruising and would NOT do something to interrupt the enjoyment of others trust me.

Even though it is retractable it is usually shut , I saw it open one time on the Breakaway in Bermuda . I don’t believe they have it open when moving either.
On the other question - the rooms below the Bridge directly also are a pain when at night as you have to keep your curtains drawn so the light does not effect the Bridge - but the side deck was ok to use at night - more to the point this experience was in the Gem.
