  1. It's about a 35-40 minute taxi ride from Caching to San Gervasio. 30-40 minutes there is probably more than enough time. In San Miguel, most of the souvenir places are along the plaza. that's probably a 10 minute taxi from SG. then, unless you're docked at Punta Langosta, downtown, the plaza is another 10 minute ride from the 2 southern piers. So in answer to your question, it depends on how long your ship is in port and how long you want to stay at Nachi.

Thanks crewsweeper. We will be on one of those Cozumel plus itineraries so we will be there for a while. Not sure I will want to be at Nachi the whole time so I want to keep my options open. Thanks again!

  2. My wife and I will be going to Cozumel and we're thinking of trying to go see San Gervasio and San Miguel. I was just wondering how easy it would be to go see both after spending some time at nachi cocum? Also what is there that we should go check out at San Miguel and where is the best souvenir shopping? Thanks!

  3. Hi Pugster4,

Have you gone on your cruise yet?

If not, try Papito's - we booked it through shoreexcursioneer last year, and it was wonderful! It includes transportation there and back, and your driver stays with you. Your driver will turn in to Punta Sur, then go back past the lighthouse to a little "beach club" area with a secluded beautiful beach. We were the only ones there at 10am - had the place to ourselves! You get snorkel gear included, use of their chairs / umbrellas. There is a restaurant/bar for a snack or meal or just drinks. No loud music - very relaxing. *See attached pics

Three of the six of us snorkeled. It was a good 10 - 15 minute swim before you see any reef or fish, since it's just nice & sandy where you start. But we did see a ray, then some brain coral, lots of big angel-looking fish, parrot fish, etc... I wore a watch so I knew how long to stay out. Maybe stayed out for an hour. We saw about 8 other people there by the time we came back.

We asked our driver if we could go climb the lighthouse. He was happy to have us pack up a little early, then drove us back to the lighthouse (about 2 minutes away). A local guy showed us around the ruins and snapped some pictures of our group for us. Everyone was so nice. I would recommend "Papito's".

I have not gone on my cruise yet. I won't be going until next year but I am just a big planner and do everything early. Thanks so much for sharing this info with me! I will have to go take a look at it! Glad to hat you had a great time!

  4. Thanks for the replies. I'm just asking because I don't necessarily need to be the first on the ship and I don't go to guest services a lot. I just wanted to know how much time it saves with rendering since I like to make the most of my time in port. Thanks again!

  5. My wife and I will be doing a cruise that goes to both Grand Cayman and Belize and I wanted to do independent excursions instead of going through carnival to save money and I was just wondering if it would be recommended to have FTTF since we will have two tender ports where we would be doing independent excursions? Thank you!

  6. Well thanks a lot for all the input once again. I have a while to think and plan on what I want to do so I will just have to keep an eye on the boards and see if something else really interests me since that sounds easier. If not I guess I can always figure something out to get out there. Thanks so much!

  7. Thanks again for all your help. I will be going with my wife and this will be our first time in Cozumel. We aren't drinkers but we're looking for a nice relaxing day. Punta Sur looked like a good spot since we could go see the lighthouse and the croc lagoon and then it looked like a nice beach for my wife to just completely relax and for me to do some snorkeling. Also liked that it would be away from the crowds. We are in Cozumel for 9 hours but we want to go into town for a little bit as well. I really do appreciate all the input and advice. I'm not set on going there so if anyone has other suggestions I will gladly listen.

How is the bar hop for people that don't drink at all? Do some people get pretty drunk?

  8. Thanks crewsweeper. I was planning on just renting and hanging out there for the day but what some people said about renting and driving in Cozumel made me nervous. Would there be much to worry about renting and driving there? I know there was one lady I heard about that was great to rent from but I can't remember her name. I just don't want something to happen and get stuck in Cozumel when my ship takes off

  9. I really wanted to go to Punta Sur and was just planning to rent a vehicle to go but then read that might not be such a good idea unless I was familiar with Cozumel and driving laws there. The. I was looking at excursions and saw that most don't seem to spend much time there. I could do the ship excursion but it seems so expensive. Any thoughts? Or should I just do something else? It will be our first time to Cozumel

  10. Not really. Didn't really spend any time in the Serenity area when we had a cove balcony. Spent most of our time there.

Oh ok. I think we might not be getting a balcony but I could see why you would use that often. We just like to be out and about doing stuff and then relax in serenity. Thanks!

  11. I've been on both. If the itinerary is the same I'd take the Magic. Nothing wrong with Glory at all, but liked the Magic better. Newer and bigger!

Ok thanks! What was it about the Magic you like better?

  12. I have been on both classes of ships. They are similar; but the bigger the ship, the more crowds there will be.

I would choose between the ships based on the amenities. I would consider the 'adult only' areas, cove balcony (Magic), etc. I would compare where I would spend most of my time based on the location of my cabin.

But most of all, I would compare the cost of the cabin as these ships are similar.

Thanks for your reply! Did you prefer one serenity area over the other?

  13. My wife and I are planning a cruise for next fall and have actually only been on Spirit class ships. These two ships have the same itinerary we want to do. Just don't know what ship we would like better and what crowd levels would be like. We really enjoy eating in the main dining room and going to the comedy shows. We enjoy quiet spots outside and like to have a way to get away from crowds without going to our room. We haven't really done specialty dining either. What do you prefer and what would you recommend? Thank you!

  14. Ooohhhh that's a hard choice! [emoji50]I really like them both! I guess if someone said pick one [emoji1489], I would have to go with Costa Maya. Just because it's still developing and as of last year, I felt like we got more for our money there. I think there were more choices in Costa Maya than Grand Cayman for us to do stuff, but still be lazy which is a priority. [emoji16]
