  1. Has anyone who has sailed recently seen the cruise director host a "white party"?

    Specifically on Dream.

We sail in a couple of weeks and I have heard other people say that there will be a white party but it is up to the individual cruise director. We didn't have one on our last cruise but I just want to be prepared in case there is one.

    Truth or rumor??? [emoji848][emoji848]

  2. I absolutely loved reading your review.

Most reviews I end up skimming through because there is so much complaining about things that may or may not be out of someone's control.

Your review was a refreshing, recounting of a stressful time that you handled like a pro (even without coffee) along with great imagery of the ship during summer.

I love the ease at which you just go with the flow and don't seem to let anything ruin your cruise.

    Bravo to you.

    And thank you for sharing.

I certainly hope your husbands knee surgery goes well.

  3. I booked a Suite as well as purchasing FTTF for my upcoming September cruise. I bought FTTF back in the beginning of January, on the same day I booked the cruise, 9 months out from the saildate.

    Why did you purchase FTTF?

Just curious since you get priority boarding with your suite booking.

  4. No, priorities have always been straight. And we are not taking excursions nor have we booked any packages. We are watching our finances closely and are keeping the costs absolutely minimum. The payment will be made, we are going, and we are going to enjoy it. This is the last vacation we can take until 2019 so it will have to be everything we can hope for. Thank you all, and as I leave my shiny new house, I know it's all worth it. I'll sleep on the cruise :)

Good for you! I am glad they gave you the extension...I thought they would.

I hope you enjoy your cruise!! You deserve it!

  5. Carnival may give you a few more days if you need it.

    Just give them a call...

    Can't hurt to ask.

I always feel better when I put my budget down on paper. List items to pay and mark them off as they get done. It will help you to have a plan.

Can you have a yardsale for extra money? Even if you only make a couple of hundred dollars it could help with some of the extra expenses.

Sounds like you two are working really hard....that will make your vacation that much sweeter!!

  6. That's nice and all...not that the OP or anyone else said it made theirs either.

But I too would like to know who my CD is gonna be. What harm does it do to know? Unless I find out it's Jase Apps....or whatever his name is.

    Do you not like Jase?

Curious since we will have him in Augusta

  7. We bring one large suitcase, one small (carry-on size) and we each have a backpack that we put a few things in. We check the suitcases but carry on the backpacks ourselves.

We like to have options. [emoji23]

But we don't spend much time packing and unpacking...only takes 15 minutes or so.

  8. If Carnival advised you that you will get $60 credit, I'm sure they will give it to you. I know I am going to sound snarky, but if getting to a particular port is that important to me, you need to fly there for your vacation as there are many times the cruise ports are changed for medical reasons or weather as examples.

I don't know the circumstances of the other cruise where people may or may not have gotten what was posted, but I feel a medical emergency is far more important than getting to a port. I know if it were my family, I'd want to have everything done for the person. I think those feeling otherwise definitely lack compassion and to me, are selfish.

I am not trying to put you down as there are many posts where people feel entitled to something, when in fact, the dreaded cruise contract states that ports can be changed without any compensation.

I'm sorry that you don't feel you got what you paid for, but that's one of the disadvantages of cruising. I have cruised several times and have missed ports too, but since the reasons for doing so are beyond my control, I just go with the flow. Most of us save for a cruise and I can understand your disappointment, but I think you just have to move on.

    Well said!!

  9. We just got back from our cruise. We booked the day pass through the shore excursioneer website. They did look at our paper when we got to the gate. You have to pay cash for the balance. The resort was gorgeous! We loved the beach and it was very clean. The staff were all polite and helpful. We went across the street to the straw market for lunch and enjoyed it as well. We loved our time in Freeport. We caught the shuttle from the port. Our driver was Dwight and he charged us $10 round trip per person. When he dropped us off he told us he would be back at 2, 3, and 4 pm to pick up people. He was there just like he told us. There was a family on the bus on our return trip that had went to the free beach and they had a nice time there as well. I liked the fact that at the Grand Lucayan you had options of beach, pool or sitting inside. It was a great day!

Thank you so much for posting this. [emoji122]🏻[emoji122]🏻

    Glad you enjoyed the day!

We are looking SO forward to this beach.

  10. How does one figure out the schedule (evening dinner activities). I saw somewhere there is an all white night? Dress up nights? Help!

Never heard of "all white night". That sounds fun...maybe someone else will know about that.

There are 2 "dressy" nights on a 7 day cruise.

    But as far as planning...

You will get a schedule delivered to your room everyday with the daily activities and important information.

  11. Our cruise director was JASE and he did a great job. Frankly, I'm not one of those who let the DC make or break our trips. As long as they are entertaining and informative, I'm OK. I know there are those who get disappointed if certain CD's are not on their ship, but not us. JASE did a good job and if he is there when you are on the ship, I think you will find the same.

I can't give you any first hand info on the live music in the bars as we did not go to those, but there was live music in the public areas i.e. Casino, atrium. I'll check with my DS to see what he thought of the live music in the bar areas.

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm like you...the CD won't make or break the cruise for me, I was just curious.

Glad to hear there was live music! I'm looking forward to that.
