  1. Hello fellow cruisers,

    Quick questions:

    1) Does the room/bathroom get stocked with shampoo/conditioner or should we bring our own?

    2) Pool towels - is it advisable to bring our own or are there sufficient available on decks?

There are two in your cabin plus you can check out a towel on deck.

    3) Pillow - do people bring their own special/favorite pillow or is that just weird (ya, I know the cabins have pillows :) )

Not weird but I never take mine anywhere. I can do without my pillows on a trip. Depends on oneself. :)

    4) Is there a way (like an app or something) that allows you to communicate with family while on board? Texting? something?

    Thanks!

    Jenn

  2. So I barely ever start threads here, and about drink packages even less...That horse couldn't be more dead..

SO I understand that if both passengers in the room are 21+ then both are required to get the cheers program (we've done it once so far)..But let's say one of the cabin guests is pregnant....Then what? I'm sure they can make some sort of exception if you have a doctor's note maybe? Of all the crazy stuff I've seen here, not sure if this has ever come up...I'm sure it has, I guess I haven't seen it yet.

Anyway, happy new Year and happy cruising!!

    Yes, they do.

  3. Alrighty, after YEARS of trying we've finally convinced my husband's family to possibly forgo their usual Las Vegas vacation and try a cruise. If you were to pick one ship to try to impress them, which would you choose? Is it worth it to pick a ship with Guys/Blue Iguana/seaside theater/2.0s or just go on price and destination (what we usually do)?

It will be us and our kids (1 and 2 so the kid activities don't matter much), BIL and SIL (early 20s), our parents (50s) and possibly our grandmas and we're planning on doing the Caribbean.

Yes! I would choose Breeze if it's feasible.

  4. Hello all! We are in the process of getting a hotel near the Port of Miami the day before our cruise departs. Any suggestions on a good, clean hotel for a decent price? May also be interested in a airport hotel but worried about how much cab fare will be to the port.

    TIA!

Cab fare from the airport area is $25.

Embassy Suites near the airport is a great decent price hotel and they offer a free shuttle to the port.

EB is a new airport hotel. They do not have a shuttle but you can sometimes grab a sale price.

  5. I am struggling with this idea for our upcoming cruise. The reason I am struggling? The extra packing for our family of four and the fact that the four of us do not truly have anything formal, the kids even semi-formal, so it would be be added costs for us to get some new digs!

I am on the fence with just sucking it up and buying some formal-ish wear (fear not, I am not talking three piece suits and such) Hoping some replies can help me make up my mind.

I know there is a whole "go dressed as you are camp" but I would feel frumpy and I also wouldn't want to offend anyone with our flip flops. :p

Can we expect many to be skipping the formal nights and dining elsewhere or are we going to be lonely sitting at the buffet?

We always go to formal night. There are always many people at the buffet; you wouldn't be alone.

  6.

Any married people out there who have cruised alone?

I've been on two cruises with my daughters (nope, not DH), so I know what to expect from the cruise experience and think I'll be okay on my own. I don't think I'd go to dinner in the dining room by myself, but other than that I think it'll be okay.

I have. I did go to the MDR every night, was seated at an 8 top.

  7. We are taking our FIRST Carnival cruise in oct on the Glory. We were super excited to try a new line as we have only been on NCL. But seems all i read on the FB page and other review sites is negative feedback!! Is carnival really become that bad? It cost us alot in airfare to make these trips from Colorado and im kinda worried now...[emoji27]

    How bad?

  8. All beaches are free except Magens and Smith Bay.

Taxi is $10 - $12 depending on port.

Paradise Point is a popular spot to have drinks and admire the view of the harbor and ships docked at Havensight (West Indies dock). They havethe famous Bailey's Bushwacker as well as other things to see including the BirdLady's show.

if docked there the aerial tram is a short walk from the ships. So a popular itinerary is a beach followed by a shower (or not) and then PP. You can buy tram passes at your excursions desk for a little less ($18pp round trip maybe?), and you can also taxi up and tram back down. If docked at Crown Bay you'll have to taxi back to the ship from PP. But a nice place to relax with a cocktail and music and a view before heading back to the ship!

If we taxi to PP from Sapphire, is the cost less for just a one way ride on the tram? TIA

  9. Seems about right to me, people who aren't afraid to shop for a good deal vs those who think they are better than them so they go to Target... I know that sounds rude but the Dream is a great ship and if it is white trash cruising I guess I may as well go put my car on blocks in the front yard.

    What he said.

  10. I have never ordered a cake to the room before, but I am quite tempted by the vanilla with strawberry creme they have offered. Who has had this and what do you think? I have never seen a cake like this sold on the ship or offered for desert so I am wondering if it is worth the $10 to surprise hubby with a treat.:D

Their cakes are surprisingly good. Even after a few days sitting in the cabins.

  11. Unfortunately I side with Carnival on this one.. when you choose guarantee rate, your cabin/floor assignment is not for you to decide.. you have decided to leave it up to Carnival to assign for you. If you wanted to choose your own cabin/floor you shouldn't have chosen guarantee rate. Just saying.

    I agree.

  12. I'm going to have to remember this. I looked right now at their rates, they just opened them up and they are running $363. Wondering if that's an introductory rate? I'll keep watching the rates then. I was beginning to think I had to find a backup plan for a hotel because I am really not wanting to pay that for a pre-cruise stay.

Have you checked lastminutetravel dot com? We have booked Intercontinental both direct and through LMT.
