I just recently took the White Pass train about a week ago. I took the basic (1A) option, which is to take the train up the mountain and back down. The sightseeing was beautiful. Great views. You have the best photo opportunities if you leave your seat and go to the outdoor platform. We even saw a bear from the train. I preferred to go with this tour, so that we would have the afternoon free to explore the town on our own.

I just got back from an Alaskan cruise last week, which was the time of my life!! You will love it. In Juneau, I would recommend the whale watching. I saw tons of humpback whales, including showing their tails and breeching. It was amazing. Weather was rainy, so pack warm clothes and a raincoat and realize it is all part of the experience. In Ketchikan, my husband and I did the Deadliest Catch crab fisherman excursion and loved it. You get to see how they catch fish, crabs, and other sea urchins. Many photo opportunities and the presenters have great stories and experience. In Victoria, I went to Butchart Gardens and it was the most beautiful experience. Even DH enjoyed it.
Dressing "Down" for dinner
in Alaska

I really enjoy dressing up for formal night, whether on an Alaska cruise or another cruise. My husband and i always choose late dining, so we always have time after excursions to change and relax before dinner.
