  1. We typically sail balcony and tip our steward $40-$50 for a week. I will also tip bartenders or servers $1 for each round they get us giving they have a smile on their face.

  2. Daily at 4pm on the back side of the buffet (near wine selections). You can get soft serve vanilla, chocolate or swirl in a cone only. They do not give bowls. Also, be a little early as there is usually a line. They do offer some toppings and other deserts as well.

Is it just me, or can't we just say that something didn't meet our expectations? What is it about Cruise Critic that brings out the extreme drama with "chaotic" and/or "dysfunctional"? We can't look at food and say "I didn't like ____", we have to go to "inedible".

When we want to be negative, a "tip" becomes a "bribe". 🙄

Do we describe things with extreme language hoping that people will "settle" for something more in line with the truth? Or do we use extreme language as a means to sway opinions when we aren't sure the facts will do it on their own?

    Very well put. Cheers!

People should be served in the order they arrived and not in the order of how much of a bribe they give to the server.

    DON

I don’t disagree. That said, those folks work long hard hours for the money they deserve. Many are single income supporting a spouse and children halfway around the world. I have no problem tipping them for their attentiveness and efforts. I was raised to take care of those who take care of you.

    $100 in singles?
    It’s been a while since you’ve cruised hasn’t it?

Bring 20’s next time. Nobody is moving faster for 1’s nowadays. Been on 3 cruises in the last 12 months.
When the ship is full to capacity a $1-$2 tip isn’t getting you to the front of the line. Especially when that line is occupied with 90% foreigners who “aren’t used to/don’t like to” wait in line.
That describes our experience on the New Years cruise on Divina.

Whole different scenario on MSC than NCL

Pretty bold of you to assume you know my experiences. Feel free to start a pissing match with someone else. I’m not buying into your judgmental BS. Cheers!

  6. Here’s my pro tip. Take it how you will. We always bring $100 in singles on every cruise. Most times, when walking up to the bar, I will tip the bartender 1-2$. The bartenders start to recognize this/you. Then, when the bar is busy, they’ll see you in line and know what you’re looking for. Many times they’ll make my drink and point to me in line. I’ll politely say excuse me to other passengers and make my way up to get my drink(s). I’ve found killing them with kindness (even when you may not want to) goes a long way as well.

Same said for the buffet area or pool deck. Tip for drinks and those servers will always walk by and make sure you’re taken care of.

  7. Going on the Jade out of Athens next month. Is it possible to get Euros on the ship? Maybe in the casino? If so, is there a fee? How much?

Lastly, how many Euros would YOU bring for a couple days pre and couple days post cruise? Or is it credit card most places?

    Thank you in advance!

  8. I see the Gem has left Charleston, SC en route to Miami, FL.

As stated previously, NCL plans to begin with a few ships initially and then expand the fleet moving forward. Anyone know which ships the intend to begin shorts sailings with?
