  1. Totally disagree with the OP. DH and I sailed on the Miracle on March 24th and found the ship to be in great shape. It was our 32nd Carnival cruise and 45th cruise overall. First time on the Miracle and we had a French Door cabin on Deck 4, mid-ship. The public areas and our cabin were not in need of any updating.....we've been on other Carnival ships that we could not say the same thing about, but not the Miracle. The only thing we wished the Miracle had was Guy's Burger Joint.

We are cruising the Miracle in November, same cabin type, same deck. Was it noisy with the shops below you?

  2. Can anyone give me some information about the Fort Lauderdale Amtrak station. We are taking the train from Lakeland to Fort Lauderdale, arriving around 5:30 pm. Will there be cabs there or will we need to call for one? Is there a building there where you can wait for your train? We are returning and the train back leaves at 12:30pm. We do self assist debarkation so if we go to the train station, will there be a place for us to wait? Any info you can provide would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance

  3. Wow, I came here yesterday to check for new info and there was nothing new, I must have been early. First time that has ever happened. While I wish your visit with your mom, aunt and bestie could have been longer, I was beginning to have withdrawals. I even went so far as to read other reviews on this cruise. I promise to never do it again. Excited to see what is coming next. Thanks for posting. I am not far down the road from you in Florida. I live in Zephyrhills, although we come to Massachusetts in the summer to see kids and grandkids. Looking forward to the next installment. :D:D:D

  4. Help. Need some info on beaches.

Junkanoo Beach - are there chair rentals and food/drink available there?

Cable Beach - is there public access to this beach or do you need to buy a day pass from one of the hotels?

Love Beach - anyone ever been there? are there chair rentals and food/drink available? how far from the cruise port is it?

or do you recommend a different beach? last time we were in Nassau we went to Cabbage Beach and would like to try something different.

any help will be appreciated. We were supposed to go to Half Moon Cay, but we were some of the lucky (said with great sarcasm) ones who got rerouted to Nassau.

    thanks for any help.

  5. If I booked through a travel agent, can I submit my own form? Also, when you submit a form, do you get some kind of confirmation when you hit the submit button. I tried to submit one this morning and nothing appeared to happen. For the first time ever, the cruise I have was booked through a travel agent, and of course, for the first time ever, there is a price drop. Can anyone provide me with what I should expect to see, or if I can even submit on my own. Thanks

  6. Just cruised the Norwegian in the beginning of March. Wanted to give NCL a try to see if a switch up was in order. While the ship itself was beautiful, lots of rich wood and lots of windows and open deck space, I would not do it again. We thought the evening food choices in the MDR were strange. We did the buffet one night and were not really impressed with that either. Breakfast and lunch in the MDR were great. We did not do any of the pay restaurants. Pool area on the Sky was midship and that was it. Two pools side by side, hot tubs in between the pools. Customer service also was lacking. We never saw our room steward. We found him one night in the hall and asked for extra towels. He made our bed one day with a pillow onder the covers at the bottom of the bed. Wish we had thought to take a photo.

I have cruised on the Victory 3 times, all before her upgrade. I would choose Victory.

  7. We were on the 4 day sailing on the Sky. We ate in the MDR 3 out of 4 nights. We have sailed Carnival, RCL and Princess. This was our first NCL cruise. Some of the meals in the dining room were fine, others, not so much. We found that the menu did not always describe what you were getting. For instance, on the first night, my husband ordered some kind of flounder, and based on the description, assumed it was going to be stuffed with some kind of Florentine. Ended up with a piece of fried flounder covered with what looked like the spring field greens that I had just had in my salad. We really enjoyed the breakfasts and lunches served in the dining room. We did the buffet one night and it seemed to be Mexican night. Most of the dishes were in heavy sauces or covered with some kind of glaze.

Don't get me wrong, we did not go hungry, and although we tried to not compare to other cruiselines, we could not help but think that usually there is at least one fish, one chicken, one beef and one vegetarian dish along with one special dish. On NCL, it didn't really seem to follow that pattern. I would like to do another NCL, just to give it a second try. My husband is a foodie and is a little less into trying them again.

If we were to do a 7 day the next time, would the menus be different than what we had on the 4 day?

  8. We do like to meet our room steward. We recently got off the Sky and were seriously disappointed with the room steward. The first night, after dinner, around 8 pm, my husband was tired and wanted to go to bed. We went back to our cabin and the steward had not yet been there. My husband went to bed, I put the Do Not Disturb on the door and met the steward further down the hall. He asked if we needed service, I said no, he said enjoy your evening, that was about it for the cruise.

We knew he was there, somewhere because every morning we would leave for breakfast and put the Make Up Our Room on the door. It was a short 4 day cruise to the Bahamas, so we were rarely off the ship past 1:00 pm. Each day, we came back, went to the cabin and no service yet. By 3, the bed had been made, poorly, but made.

The mattress pad over on one side seemed to slip all of the place. One day, I took the sheets off only to discover that the mattress pad zips onto the mattress, but the one that slipped off had never been zipped on. We fixed that. Next day, upon returning from Nassau, we were hysterical. The bed was made, but there was a huge lump at the foot of the bed. He had pulled up the sheet, blanket and comforter over a pillow and left it there. We both commented on having a ghost for a room steward.

Having sailed with Carnival, RCL and Princess, I hope this is not the norm.

I don't think it is, as we witnessed other stewards out in the halls, yet we never saw ours after the first day.

  9. We are new to Norwegian, for the UBP as part of the cruise and are wondering what the average drinks prices are? Like beer and mixed drinks? Are there special drinks of the day? Are the tips on the drinks added to you onboard account or do you tip the server? So different from anything we have done before, we want to be prepared for whatever comes our way. Thanks in advance

  10. We have cruised Carnival, Princess and RCL. We have never been on NCL and would like to try. We are thinking of starting small with the NCL SKY. Have read reviews and realize this is the smallest ship. That is okay with us.

We are wondering about the dining room and choices on NCL. Do they have tables for 2? My husband likes to try more than one starter, main dish, etc. Is this allowed on NCL? He has never had a problem on any other lines, but just wanted to check. Thanks in advance for any dining advice you can give us.

  11. It is not a 9/11 fear that has me concerned about the plane hitting the ship. Not too long ago, like less than 6 weeks, an Air Force jet from Massachusetts crashed into the woods in Virginia. This pilot was extremely experienced, yet his plane crashed and sadly, he lost his life. He was flying the jet to LA to have some upgrades done. This kind of thing can happen in an instance without warning. To me, the Naval Air Base in NC is putting thousands of cruise passengers in harms way. I do not mean to sound like a stick in the mud, but believe me, accidents happen in an instance.

  12. I can't say that I find anything "cool" about this. One small miscalculation and there could be serious consequences. If this is in fact taking place as often as people say, it should be reported to some one. All it will take is for one plane to hit a cruise ship to send this country into a terrorist tailspin. IMHO, not cool at all.
