  1. Perfect, thank you, that clears it up.

Any response to whether there is an adult area/pool?

There are some areas you wouldn't be allowed as Bella. Top 19 Solarium is for Aurea or above (maybe someone can chime in on a pay per day). Also the entire front of the top few levels of the ship is Yacht Club.

  2. Ooops posted on the roll call site instead ooops not sure if I can change ??

I don't want to encourage replies here, but I want to make sure you have the information you are looking for.

Children who are not potty trained are not allowed in the swimming pools on any cruise line. While the pools are well treated, a swim diaper of any kind will not hold the pathogens present in fecal matter, even if it appears it contained the actual feces.

There are some ships with splash areas designed for pre-potty trained toddlers, notably Disney. These areas meet a higher requirement for how quickly the water is turned over and, as such, can be used for little ones in swim diapers.

As you can imagine, cruise lines are particularly sensitive to the spread of certain illnesses, such as norovirus. Because these are transmitted primarily through the exact methods you would be exposed to in a cruise line swimming pool (accidently taking water into your mouth that is contaminated).

  3. On MSC website you can prebook a total bdy was for $35! Seems incredibly cheap. Has anyone done this? Any feeedback?

I saw this as well and joked with my wife that I'd certainly get my money's worth. I'd be tipping well more than $35 for anyone that had to wax my whole body. Interested to know if anybody's pre-booked this and what is included.

My wife suggested waxing that close to spending time in the sun (Seaside in June) would probably not be the best idea given how sensitive the skin would be.

  4. This is quite right. I don’t think any printed materials actually specified “Deluxe Beverage Package”, but that is exactly what was included with my Yacht Club booking.

FunNSUn, You mentioned that you upgraded to YIN. Did you previously have Classic Drink Package with your original booking (either via promotion or paid)? None of my YC documents indicate a drink package, so I'm thinking the old package just came over to the upgraded booking even though you would be entitled to the perks of the YC, which is all drinks except for the double asterisk from what I understand.

  5. I believe you honest! Unfortunately cruise critic doesn't. I'll do a snip it when I get home. But a search of your name in this forum leads to posts in November and then this posting. Nothing in between.

And of course we believe you that you actually tried to research this, but apparently not very hard. Try clicking on "Crusiergal" or any other poster and selecting find all posts. At least 50 posts in the last 32 days. I'm not fact checking your fact checking, but I'd surmise you have an error in your assumptions about what it is you are searching.

  6. If I remember correctly when we were on the Divina last April the sports bar was open for lunch. Does the sports bar or the garage bar serve food? If so anyone know if they will be open for lunch on embarkation day? Thanks

From earlier reports, Sports Bar only serves wings. No idea on if it will be open for embarkation lunch.

  7. MSC Customer service SWEARS up and down I have confirmed early dining in the MDR and we are Bella experience for Seaside; how on Earth are bar height tables and chairs going to work with a toddler.

While I doubt MSC has them, I've seen bar height high chairs or high chairs attached to bar chairs.

  8. No lucky shirt, no lucky charms.

Then what do you eat for breakfast?

    There's a now fairly old joke from comedian Mitch Hedberg where he discusses his hotel without a 13th floor;

-My hotel doesn't have a 13th Floor because of superstition, but c'mon man... People on the 14th floor, you know what floor you're really on.

    "What room are you in?"

    "1401".

"No, you're not. Jump out of window, you'll die earlier!"

  9. I wish that they never even called it a buffet. They should have just advertised it as the 3rd MDR that happens to serve a buffet during lunch hours. That would have changed the perception from the get go. From the images that I have seen, it looks quite nice.

I think you've nailed it. This is entirely a perception issue. List it as the third dining room and nobodies any wiser. Instead, people feel slighted that they've been downgraded at dinner rather than feeling happy they get to eat a buffet in the third dining room for lunch.

  10. Even better....port side zipline for Yacht Club, starboard side zipline for everyone else. :D

Unless of course two different YC members want to go. I shouldn't be asked to wait in line simply because the designated zip line is in use. There's another perfectly good one for me to use. ;p

  11. I know that I posted earlier about usually eating in the buffet, BUT I made the decision to pay Fantastica prices instead of Bella prices so I will/should be the one to decide where I eat. To put it bluntly "H*** will freeze over" before I will eat at buffet if I am TOLD that I and my family (who I repeat paid Fantastica prices) are to eat in the buffet.

Now if MSC wants to give everyone in my family several hundred dollars each in OBC (what I figure I paid in excess for the "pleasure of eating in the MDR") perhaps I would consider it....THAT though is the only way.

The buffet is converted to a main dining room for dinner service. The ambiance may be a bit lacking from reports on these boards, at least compared to the actual main dining rooms, but the menu is the MDR menu.

It also sounds like you can request to be reseated in the MDR if you are put in the "3rd" dining room. Though your dining time might be less than ideal in that case.

  12. I entered this contest on 12/1 and today got an e-mail saying that I had won the first prize, the 12/23 cruise on Summit. It asked me to fill out and notarize an eligibility form which asked for information including social security numbers, etc. I was hesitant to do that and called Celebrity to make sure that it was valid. They said it is not for real and is a scam. Beware!

Actually seems like you might have really won. I'd call back and ask another rep just to be sure. These kinds of prizes come with taxes due, meaning they'd need to know SSN and other pertinent information to send you the tax form and notify the IRS.

    Good health,

And of course Airborne settled a $23M lawsuit regarding false claims. It's nothing more than vitamins, which you already get from eating well.

What's more each pill contains 50% of the safe dose of vitamin A. They recommend you take three in a day (150% of the safe dose doesn't sound safe).

Wash your hands and stay hydrated, about the best option you have.

  14. Points never expire as long as you earn points every 24 months (I think it's 24) and you can earn points through partners not just by flying.

But based on earlier post on here, it's at least worth trying. Sign in and go to more rewards and try to make the "purchase". Good luck.

We only fly once a year so if I have 16,000 in points and I don’t have a southwest credit card I think I can still purchase a gift card? Thanks I want to use it for something

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

  15. Why would you need a cc? Read above posts

    I can't answer the why, but it is part of the Terms of Southwest's "More Rewards" program. From their website;

"The sky is no longer the limit when it comes to redeeming points, and that's a good thing! In addition to being rewarded with flights, Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® Credit Cardmembers have the opportunity to turn those points into International flights, hotel stays, car rentals, gift cards, and more."

Note that Cardmembers are the ones who have the opportunity to turn those points into things other than flights.

One other item, from a previous poster, it appears the redemption rate on gift cards is about 100 points per dollar of gift card. Flights are typically from 60-90 points per dollar, meaning instead of $1,000 in gift cards, those points might have been worth as much as $1,650 in flights. So, if you have US travel planned, you may want to consider Southwest flights if possible using the southwest points.

  16. One additional thought on this. There are some restrictions on how early you can check in bags prior to a flight. So not only might waiting be "not fun", she may be waiting with luggage.

I believe you can't check bags more than 3 or 4 hours before a flight, which might mean a few hours lugging it around prior to even checking it in at the airport. Not sure if this is TSA or Airline specific, so she might want to check with the airline to see how early she can check it in.

  17. Hi I am a divorced mom and considering cruising alone with my kids. I'm looking at the Dream 5 day Bahamas itinerary. We've done a bunch of cruises, but this would be the first time with me traveling without another adult or another family. Looking for some feedback as a single parent. Thanks!!

Cruised as a solo dad with 6YO, 3YO and 18 month old. Disney is awesome at this and took care of anything and everything. Get them signed up and visit the kids club right away to spark their interest and you should have fewer problems with anxiety later on. The open house is perfect for this.

Disney does (or did) a single cruisers event at some point during the cruise, which is useful as there may be other moms or dads with a similar dynamic. Depending on your kids ages, they can go to the kids club while you get some no-kid time.

Dinners are a special treat, especially if like me you are used to making up plates for the kids, filling cups, getting napkins and eventually standing at the counter to eat your own dinner. Servers will pretty much handle all your typical mom duties and you can just eat.

Feel free to post any specific questions, especially with respect to age ranges for the children as we experienced the young ones, but others have travelled with older kids.

  18. OK I'll bring cash. Does anyone know if there is a problem using large bills (e.g. $500 bills) on the ship? I want to keep my cash "wad" to a reasonable size.

You may have some trouble using a $500 bill. While legal tender, I believe the last was printed around the end of WWII and those bills are worth 50-100% more than face value to some collectors. So if you have a $500, better find a collector then use it at the casino.

You'll be stuck with $100s, which the ship's casino deals with quite regularly.

  19. Remember that dinner's in the main dining room(s) tend to be longer on board and more formal than what most kids are used to. At 11 and 7 they probably won't have any issues, but put some thought into how you want to handle meal time.

I cruised Disney as a Dad with a 2, 4 and 6 year old (Mom couldn't travel due to pregnancy), as well as a larger group that included older kids. Disney is good about coloring stuff at the table and more interactive stuff in general, but our 2 year old couldn't keep it together some nights.

Other than that get them into the kids club activities early so they can make friends right away.

  20. As far as picture quality, if you have a fairly new cell phone it will take pictures as good as any low priced point-and-shoot. My guess is you'd also be carrying the cellphone with you most places.

If you were a photog, I'd suggest a higher end point-and-shoot for awesome still shots, but you also wouldn't be asking if you were a photog.

So, I'd say the GoPro probably gives you more flexibility and if you really like snorkeling you can get some awesome video and shots with a really simple wrist mount for it. As another poster said, the new 5 black is awesome, but you can find good deals on some of the older versions which do more than enough for a hobby user. For 400, you can get the GoPro, a couple of extra batteries, a case and some accessories for your trip (wrist mount for snorkeling specifically).

    Enjoy your cruise!

  21. Kdog,

That's what I was thinking too. Called SWA and they were not 100% with their answer. If I am paying for EBCI just want to make I will receive it.

Because it isn't Southwest's program, they can't give you the 100% answer but, having flown on Southwest dozens of times (some with EBCI), I can tell you that once you are checked in, you don't get rechecked in. Since EBCI checks you in, all the valet would be doing is printing boarding passes, which they wouldn't even need to do as you could use a mobile boarding pass or have it printed at the airport.

  22. Darn. That stinks. I would rather deal with my luggage than have bad seats (possibly separate seats) on my long flight home on Southwest. Guess no luggage valet for us.

I don't think your question was specifically answered. There is no reason why the luggage valet should cause you to have a worse boarding position if you paid for EBCI. You are automatically checked in prior to the 24 hour mark. When the valet goes to get boarding passes, they aren't re-checking you in, they are simply doing what you would be doing anyway when you finally printed your own boarding pass

With EBCI you could wait until the airport to print your boarding passes and it wouldn't impact your boarding number.

If, however, you were counting on the valet to check you in right at the 24 hour mark to get you the best boarding position possible, you'd better have another plan (such as paying for EBCI).
