  1. This was true for us also, since we used gift cards for our entire sail/sign account. I think they wait until later in the day when they actually print out the tickets to be delivered to your room that first night to charge to your account. I too was concerned about the timing but waited until much later in the afternoon to apply some of our gift cards to cover those expenses. We always have a charge card on file but it has never been charged before gift cards are used entirely. Have fun on the tour, we really enjoyed it and felt it was well worth the price!

Thank you for the info. So, I guess you know what our mission is. :D

  2. I've read every response in this thread and they tell me exactly what I already knew. It's all subjective.

We are embarking on our very first cruise next week. And I'm going in with the thought that if I don't set my expectations too high, I won't be disappointed.

    WOO HOO! 5 days!!!!!!! :D

  3. I understand that we need to go to the Excursion Desk upon entering the ship to get a chance at getting a spot. However, we are funding our S&S cards with cash. So, with that being said, do I go to Guest Services or the kiosk and fund our cards first or do they just put your name down on a list for the tour and take the funds the day of the tour?

  4. Water temps should run around 70 - 72 degrees. Not too bad near the shoreline, but it's been cool these days (55 earlier this week), so it can be cold getting out of the water. Luckily it should be warming up.

Thanks for the info. We will be there next week and it looks like it will warm up nicely.

  5. Hmmm this is a tough one, going from an OV to a GS is a big big upgrade. But at $600 for a 5 night cruise that is a big price, tough to tell you what to do without knowing how much $600 really matters to you. But, I'd probably keep the OV and use the $600 on cheers and excursions. Now if the upgrade was offered for $300-400 it'd be a no brainer.

That was my thoughts as well. I was told what the suite sells for and the $600 is the difference between the two. So, not really getting any kind of discount it seems. Told her it was a little steep and if it were a bit lower I would jump on it.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts. :)

  6. Have been reading several reviews lately and there have been comments on new policy of only having your cabin serviced only once a day either in the morning or evening (you choose and let your room steward know which you time you prefer). We are cruising on the Carnival Pride B2B, 17 Jan - 7 Feb; we actually have no problem with once a day service but would we really like to have ice all of the time so would like it delivered in the evening as well as the morning. Anybody know what the "real" scoop is on this issue? Thanks for any info.....

You are not limited to either/or. Simply check off BOTH morning and evening and you will get both. :D

  7. They lost a day to vomiting, and they have had to limit their activities since then due to weakness, fatigue and general discomfort. Plus, one of the people is scheduled to run a marathon immediately after the cruise and may not be able to do that now. I think Carnival should give them a new 7-day cruise with airfare (domestic) in the future (again, assuming the illness clearly resulted from food poisoning caused by Carnival). Does that sound reasonable?

It really doesn't matter what you think. This is between Carnival and your two sick relatives.

Your expectations are very high. Airfare? They were not sick for the flight. So, no airfare. A new 7 day cruise? They weren't sick for the whole cruise. So, no to a new 7 day cruise.
