  1. Hello.

Looking at doing the Panama Canal in 2018 presumably on the wonder.

Just looking for different peoples perspective on which one is best. Have to travel from Australia to do this but that is not a concern. Have traveled on the Magic 2 times and the Dream once. Assuming it is on the Wonder which the smaller ship I prefer and it does not worry me returning to Cozumel and Grand Cayman. So those things aside whats your experience/opinion

    TIA.

  2. Hello all hopeing someone can answer.

DCL have wine packages available to order in the gifts section but my question is can you order one of these once on board. Sailing Magic on the 27th.

    TIA

  3. Did they say not to bring any smart phone or did they say that the Samsung phone that has been catching on fire is prohibited? We haven't cruised since the issue came up.

Honestly I'd be upset if they started banning all smart phones. How are you supposed to handle late flights' date=' flight cancelations, and other transportation issues? And what if you are doing more than just cruising on the vacation?[/quote']

    This is the email

    From DCL and my TA

    Hi Craig,

Just in case you have a Samsung Galaxy Note 7…

“The Federal Aviation Authority recently issued an emergency order prohibiting any Samsung Galaxy Note7 device from airline transportation, and the U.S. Coast Guard also released a marine safety alert for the same device. As a result, we have added this device to our prohibited items list for your client's sailing. Your assistance in communicating this information to your client is appreciated.

Guests that own a Samsung Galaxy Note7 should not board the ship with the device. If your client has one of these devices, we recommend they contact their service provider or visit the Samsung website at http://www.samsung.com/us/note7recall/ for detailed information on the recall."

    I hope this helps.

  4. Hi.

They don't have drink packages as such like other lines. You can pre purchase wine etc all soft drink etc is free and you can take beer 6 bottles no bigger than 12oz (got no idea how big that is we work in mills) or 2 bottles of wine and you can bring same on in ports.

  5. I have not experienced it but there are heaps of threads about the kids club and they apparently are very strict and child has to be toilet trained as well as far as Bbb and tea party i cannot answer

  6. I haven't stayed at either of these, so this is based just on the location. Stay at the River Park Hotel. You'll be in downtown Miami, with lots of options for restaurants and shopping. You're right by the Metro Mover, so you won't need a car to get around. Parking downtown is no fun.

You could take a cab from airport to hotel, and from hotel to port. Skip the rental car.

At the Comfort Suites, you'd need a car to go anywhere. It might be fine for an overnight, but I expect you'll want to have a bit of fun while you're here for 2 days.

    Enjoy your trip!

    Thanks SandifromMiami

I think i will go that way, we were going with the car option to start with as we were thinking of a drive to the Keys.. Didnt know how far down as we have been to Key West and it looked like a bit of a hike. Plenty to do in Miami without driving.

    Thanks again for your input

  7. Is there any way to find out if I have successfully registered my granddaughter for the Oceaneer Club ?

The line for Child Registration says registered

  8. We prefer South Beach. Lovely hotels down there. And I agree with JohninDC ---any hotel near the port that costs that low, I would be suspicious. I'm paying $229 per night at a lovely Art Deco hotel on Collins Ave.

These 2 are the ones I have currently booked. It's just hard to get anything being so close to thanksgiving. ( didn't understand the importance of this holiday until trying to book stuff. I think we arrive on Black Friday which I had never heard of) I got the latest booking near the port on a 24 hrs sale

  9. I am not familiar with the River Park - never heard it mentioned on this board? I would be suspicious of any Miami hotel that cheap near the port.

I would not stay at the Comfort Suites North unless I was arriving very late and cruising the next morning.

Staying with a car I would focus on hotels in the Blue Lagoon area near the airport - Hampton Inn, Homewood Suites and others. Or bite the bullet and pay the parking fees to stay downtown - Hampton Inn Mary Brickell, Doubletree, Hyatt and others often suggested on this board.

Are you parking at POM while cruising?

    Hi

We are not parking at port hired car for 24 hours only coming in a day earlier as it was $3000 cheaper for return flights by changing 1 day the hotel is not normally that cheap it was on a 24 he sale on booking.com.

Thinking of not hiring a car with this accom and just doing the hop on off bus that day and walking around.

  10. Hi I was just seeking feedback from anyone whom has experienced these 2 places.

I have been looking at ratings etc and feedback for a while now and have a booking at the following 2 places. Both have their pros and cons but looking for if it was the choice to choose which one and maybe a little on why staying for 2 nights late November

1st place. Comfort suites Miami north ( next to airport) 2 nights $ 427.14 2 adults 2 kids

Pros. Has free shuttle from airport and to port. Breakfast included, free car parking (have car booked for 24 hours)

Cons. Read that area not the best not much out there noise from airport.

2nd place. River Park Hotel & Suites Port of Miami 2 nights $ 239.42

Pros. Location. Breakfast included, Cost, area better

Cons. No shuttle from airport. But have car. Car parking $25 taxi after dropping off car taxi to port

So if anybody has stayed here or can give an opinion on which one and why that would be helpful.

I can cancel either one with no penalty

    Look fwd to responses

  11. Hey Aus,

Thanks for that. I have a town Car booked to pick us up about 8:15am. So my plan was to do a self assisted disembarkation (Which I think starts at 7:30am). So I was hoping that it took about 45 mins all up. I have been on other cruises from the USA and did not really find the US Customs too slow, so I am hoping it's the same here.

Can I ask did you have any special visas or anything. My Last cruise last year from Los Angeles we didn't have anything only the ESTA thing, and the customs lady made a little comment but all was OK in the end. Was just wondering if we should have had something extra that I missed. She didn't seem to really know what she was talking about though cause she had to ask someone else, but it got me a bit nervous.

Can't wait though. The count down is on, and fly out in less than 3 weeks! Wonder how many Aussies will be on board. It's amazing we fly to America and get excited at seeing an Aussie over there LOL

    Howdy

No about the special visas only the ESTA which lasts for 2 years. I wish we flew out in 3 weeks have to wait 102 days. How many of you are going ? Kids ?

Looks like a similar trip to the one we did Cozumel was great loved that place and Grand you gotta try the rum cake. and Castaway cay is great fun too.

In regards to tipping we just went with the prepaid gratutites except for out stateroom attendant he was great with the kids.:)

Port canaveral is easy to do if you have kids make sure you get the wrist band for the kids rooms and go in on the open days.

We never done the Adult dining, i felt the main dining rooms were more than adequate.

  12. Howdy fellow Aussie Cruiser. We are from Brisbane and when we sailed the Magic in 2014 we weren't in a hurry but it took about 45 mins through the immigration area of Port Canaveral. It then took another hour for the line up to get the car rental shuttle.

Getting on the ship I cannot comment as Pe arrived there at 11:30 am there was no line up at the check in counter and after we checked in we were whisked away as we got chosen to be family of the day. Which meant we got on the ship before anyone else except for the b2b people but we also had to stand up in the port and get introduced to the entire load of passengers. But all was great.
