That's really sad! Her poor family....

You can ask the hotel for a roll away bed..that will be no fee or a small nightly or 1 time fee...just a thought..
Have a blast..Krista
PS I love PL and Our Parents booked our December Family Cruise through them for great savings
That's a good idea!!!! Thanks and happy cruising to you too:)

Never been on the glory, but plan to this November and am really excited to do so! I have been on the Magic and it was fantastic! Beautiful ship, I have no negatives about it. If I were in your shoes, I would try the one with ports I've never been to .... To go somewhere new and since it's a little less $$$ I'd have more to spend on excursions, photos or drinks :)
That is just IMHO .... I'm sure whatever one you choose you will have a blast! Happy Cruising ;)

It's really awesome that put this all together and have even update it! Thank you it's a huge help and it's incredibly nice to share your work :)

I think this is a great idea and would enjoy watching/participating!!!

Lol, I did the same thing (headbanging) during Bohemian Rhapsody, my 15 year old told me to stop, but I had fun doing it too!
Now I'm definitely going to attend! Any time I have the chance to embarrass my children I must act on it!!!! Plus I do a pretty good Garth impression :D

If they have an 'upgrade' available when you check in. That's the risk of using PL or HW.
Totally, I can't say I will ever book PL again due to that!
Just fingers crossed that we aren't SOL when we get there in November

Good grief, that's a lot of money for 4 people; how long is your cruise? We're (DH and I) are booked in a balcony cabin on a 15 day trans-Atlantic that is coming in at a little over $7,000 CAD, and that includes first class air to Europe. I'd suggest using Priceline or Hotwire for your hotels and doing some ports on your own, rather than expensive ship excursions.
Smooth Sailing ! :) :) :)
Wow you got a good deal! Its a 7 day (balcony) cruise and I think it's the excursions/flight that really got me. We used priceline for our hotel when we get in, but it seems that Miami is just expensive, or it could be the area I chose too!
I'll do some investigating for excursions, see if I can find some more economical options elsewhere!
Thank you and you too! 15 day Trans-Atlantic sound AMAZING!

November 10 + 11 for 2 rooms for the 2 nights
Sonesta Coconut Grove, Coconut Grove Miami
Bid $105 declined, bid $120, bid $132 accepted= 621.76 with taxes incl. Only other fee will be resort fee of $30/room per night.
When I looked online this was a lot cheaper than directly with hotel and also on booking sites. Hopefully it's good!
Did have an issue with beds though, called to confirm and explained that they were 1 bedroom rooms with no couch!?! So we will have to upgrade our room on check in, I'll let you know if it's worth the hassle. :p

We have a Carnival Eastern Caribbean cruise booked this November out of Miami (We will be flying from Ottawa-spending 2 nights in Miami, then board). It has easily reached $7000US and I still have 2 more excursions to plan + shopping + food off cruise+ incidentals + our hotel on return for the night. I'm expecting it to snowball to around 10G US for our family of 4
Next cruise, I'm hoping to book with Royal Caribbean who gives the option of using Canadian dollar and I'm hoping to save airfare, as they have a port in New Jersey - less than 7 hours from us.
Any other holidays will be in Canada until the dollar gets better ..... cause this is cray cray
We've been lucky and have sailed 2 other amazing cruises earlier this year, but the exchange was higher when I had paid and I got a fantastic deal on the flights, so it didn't affect me nearly as much .....
-
I was able to benefit from this credit too .... Ended up with just over $70 :)
Make sure the excursion your looking at is available to cruisers as some aren't, also if transportation is provided, as many carnival excursions have, not all though! Good luck!:)

Just show up. No need for tickets. Arrive early if you want good seats.

That's great! Thanks for the info!

Do cruisers have to register to attend for the show? Is it an additional cost? I've never heard of it before, but will be sailing on the Glory in November and previously on the Magic, we found the nightly shows not to be super great, so I would LOVE to go to something different :):)
-
Sorry Dearabby 84 I gave OP the credit for the information. Apologies. Coolers are allowed but they are limited to 12X12X12. I don't know about other ports as Galveston was the only time we took one (on the Triumph) they were measuring them.
That's great that you were able to give the info! That's why I love Cruise Critic! So valuable :)

Thank you very much? Have you been in the sunshine? I read (can't remember where) that the lower deck on this ship does not have fridges>
No I haven't been on the Sunshine, its only been newer ones. My bad, hopefully someone else knows for sure :)
Otherwise are coolers allowed? You could always have your attendant bring fresh ice every once in a while :)
-
I've been in inside rooms, OV and balcony they all had the same mini fridge. I agree though not all that cold ;)
-
Stupid question I'm about to ask but I usually put my phone in airplane mode. Does the app work when your phone is in airplane?
Yes, that's exactly what I do! I put it on airplane so I don't incur roaming, was still able to get onto wifi specifically for hub (free one) :)

You have to get purchase the Internet package to have access to this? Ok, I guess I didn't realize t
hat. :(
I thought it was just $5, if you wanted the chat feature. And the rest was free. No?
No, you're totally right ... No internet package needed to use hub app and the chat option, the $5 per device is all :)
Sorry about the confusion, just thinking since people would be using their phones more, they may be more tempted to get internet packages :)

This will be the future and the beginning of the end of paper on the ship
Traditionalist won't like it much, but the next generation of cruisers will find it essential.
I think you're absolutely right! I really like the fun times paper copy as a souvenir :)
I do think that it may be difficult for some travellers though, if they're using their cell phone (app) on the holiday and in the past made a point to not touch their phones on holiday, it may be harder to resist checking work emails etc. May entice more folks to get the Internet packages ..... I wonder if it will cause internet package sales to spike, since it'll increase cell phone use? just curious ....

Do you get the entire week schedule on the first day, or day by day?
Thanks! :D
Once I boarded I was able to get a rundown of all the days of the sailing. Port info, what times to get back, things to do on board, Fun Times for every day so I was able to pre-plan.
Found it very useful, only negative I had was that the pixels photo part wasn't working, also it would have been cool to see it in advance of boarding the ship ........ Cruise Critic has certainly come in handy for that as people have uploaded pics of them on here ;)
Happy Sailing :):)

Dang that is scary! Can you imagine that poor woman all alone, stranded, that's just too bad .... I'm glad to see that the people at the port seemed to be helping her, hope she was able to get home okay ....
-
Okay thanks!! I haven't actually purchased my Cheers package yet, but when I do will I be purchasing for 6 days since the first day is not included?? (it's a 7 night cruise).
That's right! You won't pay Cheers for that first day!
-
They will have a different venue - still safe and still fun for the kids, with loads of activities to keep them happy. Since it is their first cruise, they won't even know the difference! All will be well!!
That's fantastic! I knew Carnival would be as accommodating as possible!!! I'm so glad for you and enjoy your cruise :)
-
That is a FANTASTIC DEAL! What a score!!! We're dining in the Glory steakhouse (Emerald?) on the first night of our sailing and may try to buy more than one bottle! I might be lucky like the OP!:D:D
