  1. We were on it in July, and agree about both service and food. Service in the MDR was bad enough that I had to complain to the maitre d and then guest services before anything improved. Stuff like, when I order something from the menu, if I don't ask for changes, I expect to get it as described, including accompaniments, I shouldn't have to ask and wait for them. And food items not being as described either (PSA, lamb shank comes on a bone, it doesn't look like stew.

Cabin staff were fine, it was the MDR was my big issue.

  2. I can't find an edit button. One thing about Splendor. Embarkation day, DH was at the lobby bar, I was in the room doing something. He had a drink. I came down a bit later, was obviously with him, and ordered one. The bartender, Katherine, called my by name before seeing my SS card, not sure how she knew. Didn't see her for 2 days, then did at another bar. She still remembered both our names. I have no idea how she did it.

  3. Just off the glory last week and it's in need of dry dock. Showing lots of wear and tear. Never been on splendor so can't help there.

It's going for dry dock February, back into service Mid March.

We preferred Glory to Splendor, found the service better on Glory, both in the MDR and stewards. Splendor wasn't bad, just not as good.

  4. OK..I'll bite.

What services do people expect in the morning from a steward, and what services do they expect at night?

Personally I'm fine with my bed made in the morning, fresh towels once a day (personally I hang up wet towels after use and I wash in the shower so towels do stay clean), my trash can emptied, and bathroom surfaces given a wipe. Toilet paper kept stocked, tissues kept stocked, and (if I have detritus laying around) a quick clean up.

Don't give a hoot about ice (get my own when I need it), having covers turned down, continual fresh towels (I guess some people were never taught to hang up towels to dry), towel animals, a full time maid, someone to move my discarded clothes from chair a to b, or pick them up from the floor, someone to pick up after my kids because I'm too lazy to do so.

Morning - cleaned like they always do, bed made, stuff wiped down, vacuumed, restock tp if needed. Evening, bed turned down (I'm on vacation!), fresh towels, fun times, towel animal. Evening stuff should take them 5 minutes.

We leave the room tidy, and when we bring the kids and they have their own room, if they leave it messy (22 year old hasn't learned), then we tell the steward to leave it alone.

  5. Well, we are booked on the first cruise out of dry dock ... actually did not know that when we booked the cruise only that the departure date worked with our schedules. I don't care what they add because I am on a cruise and that's what matters - I do like the idea of a Red Frog Pub ... We will report back after the cruise ....

We just booked that one too!
