Celebrity requests no shorts. Your kid might be allowed in wearing shorts anyway. Depends on the host/hostess at the entrance. They might be more lenient for younger kids. So if your kid wears shorts be prepared for your kid possibly being sent back to change if they come in shorts. I don't pay much attention to what kids were wearing because once in they are sitting down and you can't realy tell.

Was on the 6.18.23 sailing and I hardly saw adults in jeans either. FYI

For those that have recently been on the Summit to Bermuda, did teens/kids wear nice shorts in the MDR for dinner?

For the dress code police, please do not lecture about dress code or ask "why is it so hard to wear pants?"... I've read all those comments endlessly, and I'm aware of what the Celebrity website states as dress code.

Thank you in advance for helpful replies.

No, no children that I saw wore shorts, they adhered to the dress code. We just sailed on Summit to Bermuda on June 18th with a 4 year old and a 10 year old. My daughter, the younger, was always in a sundress, bows in hair and "fancy" dresses on the two dressier nights (she called them fancy but they weren't anything over-the top). The 10 year old boy wore short sleeved button downs (think J Crew) and chinos in pink, blue, cream, etc. with boat shoes, driving mocs, etc.

I think the issue for a lot of people who are replying to your post is that it seems just by posing the question, you're trying to see what you can get away with. If others aren't sticking to the dress code, then maybe you don't have to either. If they don't follow the rules, then I don't need to either. Again, seems that way from the back and forth I've read above and maybe that's why you aren't getting as much/type of feedback you're looking for.

  3. May I ask what date? I was on the June 18th sailing on Summit to Bermuda, and didn't find any issues really. It was my 8th Summit to Bermuda cruising and I have to say that it was just as enjoyable as in the past. The ONE critique I have is for the cabin attendant who regularly did not set up the beds as we wanted (I had a family veranda) and wasn't as available as I'd like, but in her defense, our week was her first sailing. Other than that, the staff was super attentive and the guests that we were around anyway, were pleasant and polite. So sorry to hear this was your experience.

  4. Hi all. On past Celebrity Summit cruises from NJ to Bermuda, Captain's Club members were invited to a send-off party on the helipad of the ship while leaving NJ and sailing through the harbor. I called Celebrity and the rep I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about. Does anyone know if they still do this? Thanks!

  5. Sailing again on Summit in a few weeks and personally, the charge for room service doesn't bother me. In general, people are wasteful. I dont know how many times I've seen trays of uneaten food outside cabins. It's awful. If $9 makes people pause and think a little more before they go hog wild, I think it's a good thing!

  6. I've been on Summit several times (8x), going again in two weeks, all to Bermuda. They've always had poolside parties, but never a 'white night'. That sounds super fun though! Maybe I'll pack accordingly just in case! 😉

You don’t go into specific numbers, but the Deluxe Family Veranda on Summit sleeps at least five. Is adding them to your family veranda cabin possible?

We are going to be in one of those cabins in August on Summit.  I wouldn’t move from there to a suite even if Celebrity paid me. Both the room and the balcony are so much larger than any suite onboard plus you have sweeping views of the back and side of the ship.

Unfortunately, no it’ll be too many guests. But I think the veranda category opened w some availability this AM!!

Have them book the Oceanview cabins and then put in Move Up bids as well. Keep in mind, if you win a suite bid, they will not be allowed to dine with you in Luminae without an extra fee.

The problem with that though, is that if something higher than an Oceanview doesn't open up and they don't want to sail in the oceanview, they'll lose the entire fare. It's within final payment window so there are no refunds.

  9. Hi all! I am booked in a family veranda (I think they're now called Deluxe Veranda) stateroom on the 6.18 sailing on Summit to Bermuda. To make a VERY long story short, we've had some news in our family that's made two other family members now want to book on the trip too. The problem is, there are only Oceanview rooms available at this late date and that will not work for them. I've bid on a suite upgrade in the hope that maybe I'll get that, and then they could book my current cabin, I am checking the website hourly to see if anything opens up but so far nothing. I was told by one agent that their revenue dept. does hold some cabins in reserve, but another told me this sailing is sold out and they do not. Sometimes I log on and the website says "Check other dates" under a particular cabin type, other times it says "Sold out".

So my question is... does anyone have any experience with cabins opening up very last minute before a sailing? Is that common? And/or does anyone know how I may be able to secure a veranda or higher cabin for my family on this sailing?

Thank you SO MUCH for any tips, hints, tricks, etc.!

  10. Not unfortunate...you'll just need a little heavier clothing! It will still be beautiful....like you'll probably want a hat and gloves. When I packed I figured North Sea....so I brought all jeans, sweaters and long sleeved tops....being me, at the last minute I threw in 2 pairs of capri jeans and 4 short sleeved tees.....I spent virtually the entire B2B....21 days....living in those capris! DH describes Norway as "being like a woman.....beautiful and capricious ... and she changes her mind at the drop of a hat! " ;p

Haha what a perfect analogy! Thanks for the advice! :)

  11. Is it at all possible that you could go in late August? We did B2B Baltic Caps and Norway this past August and were in Norway the last week of August. Weather for the most part was beautiful, but layers are a must. Bergen and Alesund rained but rest of the time it was quite pleasant. I was comfortable all the time in a flannel hoodie with a light down vest over. By all means do the Flam RR and book it ahead of time! The ship docks an easy walk from the train. The train DOES have bathrooms but not in every car (I think it was every other car but not 100%) Celebrity will tell you there are none, but there are, you just have to ask which car they're in. The trip is fantastic....the cars are heated and comfortable...there's one stop at the most famous waterfall for about 15 minutes going up and again coming down....and then you stop for waffles, strawberries and some kind of cream that were delicious!! Another tour we took that we booked on our own was a boat ride in Geiranger that was also an easy walk from where we docked and for that one I needed both hoodie and vest BUT there is comfortable seating inside. We did a similar boat ride in Stavenger and again, easy walk from ship to boat, comfortable seating inside...but if you want really good views or to take pictures dress warmly and sit outside. Fantastic trip.....we've been all over the world and both of us agree that Norway is one of the most beautiful places we've ever seen.

Thanks for the info! Unfortunately because of work schedules, April/May is the only time we can go.

  12. I have been on 12+ Celebrity cruises and all have been to the Caribbean or Bermuda. Thinking of taking their Norwegian Fjords cruise this upcoming April (end of, early May) but am at a loss for what to pack. Typically, my day wear has been bathing suits, so I'm in need of some help! I'm in my mid-30s and will be traveling as a couple. Any advice would be appreciated!

  13. My sister just did the Bermuda cruise on Summit with her 5 year old and I think the kids' club is almost 24/7. I know she said the main club closes at 10:00 pm and then for an additional fee, the kids can stay until 1:00 am. I think she said it came out to be $20 the one evening she and my brother in law did that. Hope that helps a bit!

  14. Haven't cruised with Celebrity since March 2016 from Santiago through the Panama Canal to Miami in the early days of the 'evening chic' dress code changes. Certainly by the final 'evening chic' dinner the tuxedos and ladies gowns outnumbered the casual dressers, almost as if people were waiting for others to take the lead in wearing formal attire.

However, as time has passed and we are soon (October) to take a Southern Caribbean cruise from Miami on Celebrity Equinox I was wondering if the dress sense is even more relaxed now??

I for one, like the formality of 'dressing for dinner' but don't want to walk into the MDR and be mistaken for the Maitre d'!!!

Has anyone got any recent experiences to share please?

In my experience (last cruises were on Silhouette in 2016 and Summit in 2014) the dress code was MUCH more relaxed than in years past. However, my sister just got back from Summit to Bermuda and said she was shocked at how much more dressed up people were, especially the younger guests. I'm heading on the same trip next week and can report back too.

  15. We last sailed to Bermuda last August on the Summit. Most people did dress up- not jeans- Saw men in shirts, ties, slacks and some with or without jackets- even some more formally dressed- with shoes- didin't see sneakers. Ladies wore what I would term cocktail attire- some slacks and fancy tops, others dresses or skirts- saw a few long dresses also.

I would suggest that you bring comfortable clothes and slacks - save the jeans for other nights. However it is your cruise- but you asked for opinions. We will be sailing again this August on the Summit and will bring country club aka cocktail party attire for the formal nights- and more casual attire for the other evenings.

    Enjoy

Ill be on Summit in July. IMO, it's better to be over dressed than under. Sounds like you and I pack in the same way!

  16. As far as we are concerned the ONLY specialty worth the additional cost is Murano. Tuscan is more like an upscale Italian chain and Qsine is just quirky presentations (may be fun to try once with a large group so you can taste everything). We got a 1/2 off discount for both and felt we'd never return to either. Now that they are removing the Ocean Liners restaurants from the Mclass ships, we'll pass on specialty dining on those ships. We haven't tried Lawn Club on Reflection yet, but will only do so if a discount is offered. Otherwise we'll be happy with MDR or Blu. You'll get lots of differing opinions here since tastes are subjective. We like the ambience and service that Murano offers and find it a treat.

I don't even see where Murano is an option on Summit...

  17. I've always found the food on Celebrity to be quite good. I'm going to be sailing again on Summit this summer and was wondering if specialty dining (either Tuscan Grill or Qsine) is worth it? I'm thinking yes, if for no other reason than to see another beautiful view and part of the ship but I'm curious what people who've done it think. Thanks!
