  1. Sorry, but just to clarify. Can a customer get Quidco discount and Peninsular Club discount? With some Quidco purchases I was not given casjback because I had claimed another discount from the supplier.

    Thank you

    Len

It should say in the terms at the bottom of the page. I just always try. The worst is that they will reject your cash back.

  2. Why not try an apartment? Airbnb or Homeaway family have great prices with all the amenities you could ask for. Most places supply brochures and maps as you would get in any hotel lobby. This is definitely the way to go with a family of 3 or 4 or couples. Our family of 4 stayed in a 2 bedroom with pull out coach and 2 full bathrooms, washer, dryer, and dishwasher near Placa Catalunya for less than 100 euros/night.

We have used AirBnb on a couple of occasions on Barcelona. Make sure however u check they have AirCon. A lot of apartments don't!

I like staying in different hotels and thinking of going for a couple of days before so want somewhere with a pool.

Has Anyone stayed in AC hotels before? Never heated of them but they are owned by Marriott. The AC Suites Victoria has some decent rates.

  3. Hello all,

My husband and I just booked this cruise. We have cruised before, but never a transatlantic or anything this long. We had been discussing a transatlantic for the many sea days and when I saw the prices on this crisis, we could not resist. We look forward to meeting everyone.

We done a few trannys now with other liners but this is the first time on NCL. They are a great way to really get the most out of a ship and usually they have extra activities on them.

Keeping a eye out for flights!

  4. I can recommend Barcelona Princess. Slightly out but very easy to get to the centre on the metro and the Ho-Ho bus also has a stop there. Great views of the city and ocean, infinity roof top pool, large rooms with a free mini bar. 5 minute taxi to the port.

  5. If sun beds is anyone's main worry why do a cruise do a land based holiday.

As I said at the beginning of this thread we had a great time just avoid the negative people.

Unless you sunbathe what else is there to do? Very few daytime activities that repeat every day.

  6. mmm, after 4 Celebrity cruises in 2 years and 2 Royal cruises I have experienced the exact sun bed layout as per the video. Maybe Disney is a notch above but we have yet to try them.

As others have said. Usually you have two sun beds and a drinks table.

Britannia it's like you on a battery sunbathing farm with just rows and rows of beds. I had to lay closer to a total stranger then I do my own husband in bed.

  7. Hmm

I am new to this P&O and a bit worried with what I am reading. ..

I have recently been on ncl and was wondering how they compare.

Can you get a drinks package with P&O?

They do not do a drinks package like most cruise lines. We most of the drinks reasonable comparable to London drinks prices. Cocktails where not worth it in our opinion. Most of them used pre mixes and the martini glasses where smaller than normal. They had a good selection of wines and beers but by the end of our cruise the bar has run out of a lot of the beers.

You can buy a soft drinks package that is not worth it as it limits you to 20 refills. We ended up just taking loads of bottles onboard with us.

You can by a costa coffee card which you essentially get 10 coffees for the price of 9. You don't save anything if you only drink Amerocanos.

You can get a wine package also but you can only use it in the restaurants. We dined a lot in the buffet so ended up not using all our tokens so we cashed them in on the last night and brought our wine home.

  8. Across the cruise industry the food budget per head has diminished significantly over the years, also staff numbers have declined in an attempt to maintain prices in the face of rising inflation. Therefore it is not surprising that many people have seen a fall in service and food quality?

The introduction of specialty restaurants has given their customers choice as well as giving the cruise companies a profit stream which helps maintain the headline price. It is no different than the accommodation choice, do you choose an inside cabin or a suite. Without the suite passengers the cost would be higher for everyone, simple economics. The moaners want the higher levels of service and seldom prepared to pay.

Compared to 3-4 years a go the cost of cruising has risen not gone down. The holiday we was on was not a cheap holiday at all and for some people they can only do this once in a lifetime.

  9. Have to agree with Dai, never have a problem with service, especially Ventura which we regard as one of the friendliest ship in the fleet. I'm not suggesting you don't, but it helps a lot to smile and acknowledge the staff. We do and you know, after a couple of days we are recognised and referred to by our name.

    Bal

We always said hello to staff and asking how are you. Asking if they had a good day etc. Most of the time it was like talking to a brick wall. The only people who spoke to us where our cabin steward and the staff in the Epicurean.

  10. Saying that the OP is used to American Liners is a poor excuse. These american Liners also sail form the UK and Europe and this is only increasing. These are therefore P&Os direct competition and the OP has every right to compare them.

I was also on the Britannia Transatlantic crossing and was bitterly disappointed. I so wanted to like this ship but was left confirming every concern I had of P&O prior to sailing.

The food was atrocious. I have ate better meals at a Wetherspoons than onboard.

The biggest offender was the main dining room which was a absolute shambles. I visited it three times before giving up. For the remainder of the cruise was left to eating in the buffet as at least then I didn't have to wait for a replacement dish and could just choose a different option if it was bad.

The staff on board did there job but with no enthusiasm at all except in the Speciality Dining restaurants where the service was incredible.

You could not sit in a public area without been harassed constantly asking if you would like a drink. I felt like i had to just leave a little bit of my drink left so I would not be asked. On one occasion i was asked 7 times in a row by different staff members if I would like another drink in the Live Lounge. It actually became a running joke but It made me feel like I could not sit in any public area without buying a drink.

On a positive I thought the headliners cast and there shows where fantastic as well as the Epicurean Afternoon Tea and Dinner. I put a excellent service comment card in about the staff at the Epicurean.

I also complained on board and was encouraged by the manager to also put my comments on the the end of cruise comment card. I will also be contacting P&O directly.

  11. Thats a shame and explains why dress standards are dropping.

Fine on any other night, but no way are they appropriate for a formal night. Made of leather or not. Costapacket or not.

    IMO

Who said anything about formal night? Read the post this is about non formal nights!

  12. Hello,

Airports charge landing and departure fees routinely. Coming into Heathrow is nothing, but leaving (when you fly on points) there is usually a substantial USD fee added to this portion of flight?

When we purchase a cruise vacation, port charges are routinely posted on their own line in costs details. Yes?

    DJ:)

I know every port and airport charges a landing fee but you don't see it as it is a cost on the airline or cruise line. I think the person was referring to additional fee payable when you are there, sometimes known as a Levi.Although I may be wrong .

  13. Some airports such as Norwich and Teesside charge this. It just makes people go to other airport. We had to pay a leaving fee to leave Cuba.

  14. Not really as the mini buses take you direct to check in. Then you board, but you can then immediately get off and go into town and buy stuff. A Friday start gives a better chance pre-cruise.

    Regards John

Ah thats annoying. We are boarding the same day as sailing away. The price was the extra night was extortionate.

  15. what about those online agencies that offer free OBC, drink packages, etc.? I've done TA and PVP and so far, not thrilled with either. But I keep seeing all of these huge perks and wonder if there is a catch? I'm ready to book with one. Does anyone have any input?

Most of the time the perks are just the same as the travel agent. I have never seen a Ta offer free drinks that the cruise line so not offering to everyone. OBC is different so just work out what is the best value.

  16. I have done both and just do it myself now. Not had a bad experience with a TA but it's so easy doing it yourself and I prefer to just book direct. Everyone who says it takes hours or that you can't do it is just complete BS. I booked in 5 minutes and arranged flights myself in another 10. I'm not a internet wizz and if I have any questions I ask on here and get a reply pretty much asap.

I am assuming that is £200 each not £200 per couple?
