When the CBP references "premium coffees" what does that mean? Lattes and the like? Better brewed coffees from where?
Thanks!

Grilling beef short ribs and drinking beer with the yard cat tonight. We are so damn landlocked seafood is a crap shoot.

Groceries turned into running a ridiculous errand with my husband for someone I am not a fan of. On the up side we got really terrible rural New England Chinese take out so no cooking. And there was Allagash White pints in my fridge....and Fireball. So not a total wash

What was the beverage of choice to accompany said sardines?
P.S. I had pizza rolls for dinner, in case anyone wants to know.
Hummus and pretzel chips here.....with a soda. Family drama means I need to be able to get behind the wheel at any time. But after work today it will be beer o'clock.

Hypothetically, what would happen if you booked with an offer that gave the second guest a reduced fare and did a no show? Would the fare of the now solo cruiser go up?

Whew....finally caught up! Stumbled on this yesterday and binged thru the whole thing mostly to know if you found the new place. Now rather hooked on the whole thing.

Thanks for sharing this! Currently I only travel solo for work but anticipate solo travels for pleasure in the future. It seems the best things to pack will be a positive attitude, intrepid spirit, and good insurance!

I'm from one of the EDL states but will still get my passport before I cruise. My EDL is lovely for a drive across the border into Canada. But if I'm on a cruise in one of the foreign ports and the ka-ka hits the fan (I miss the ship, get injured or become extremely ill) I will need an actual passport if I need to fly to the next port to meet the ship or if I need to fly home. Is it highly likely that any of these things will happen? Probably not but I'd rather have it and not need it, than not have it and end up in a mess.

You might also ask your doc or the nurse about a suture removal "kit" if you are traveling with someone who can help you out. And if it is your non-dominant hand you may be able to DIY. I've removed stitches and staples from DH with minimal instruction and a "kit". And stitches from the dog and the cat on separate occasions. In order of cooperativeness dog...DH...cat. 😉
The kit was gauze, alcohol wipes, and disposable nippers for sutures and for staples the same items except the nippers were a little tweezer type item that somehow squeezed the middle of the staple which disengaged it and allowed it to be lifted away.

You can also mimic a hard seltzer by having a flavored vodka with seltzer.

Hi Jenn; nope, this is a "convenience" spot for service animals on board with their passenger handlers. Detection K-9s are usually contracted to screen inbound cargo (at times, luggage) at ports. You might also encounter K-9's that belong to national organizations (police, customs, agricultural inspections, military, etc.) in ports like Cabo San Lucas and Costa Maya, Mexico, Callao, Peru, Tanjong Priok, Indonesia, etc, that are used for screening purposes. There are no detection K-9s actually on board on HAL ships
Ah well a girl can dream right? At least I can admire the working doggos in some of the ports from a respectful distance. One of my favorite trip photos is a selfie I took with a police horse in NOLA. DH just shakes his head. LOL

Are there security K9s? ( I imagine they would be more detection than patrol.) If so you've just made the HAL 1000x more attractive! One of my favorite professional perks is having the K9 classes use my office for training exercises of the non-poo box variety.

Not a discount on the gift card itself but my plan is to buy them at Price Chopper (grocery chain in the northeast) when they run a 4x reward points promo which gives us $$ off gas. So we will save money in one spot at least!

Would he be able to eat table foods that you put through a baby food mill? If so Amazon has several portable options that are pretty inexpensive. It might expand your options (and his) for dining on board.

I would love to meet Captain Kate. It always makes me proud to see a woman in the driver's seat, be it a plane or a ship or a CEO of a big company. Once upon a time we were not even allowed to vote. We've come a long way! Three cheers for Kate and others like her.
Agreed!

Hi all
I posted this in the HAL forum but I am also considering X .....
DH and I have not cruised before but I hope to talk him into one this year. My preference is someplace warm but I am flexible regarding exact destination. Mostly my goals are to be in a deck lounge with a book and a cocktail for about a week!
DH loves to fish and a chance to deep sea fish would help sweeten the deal for him. (Yes I am sharp enough to know he can't fish off the ship lol)
Have any of you taken off ship excursions to fish? And how would you rate them? DH has two replaced knees and some balance issues along with being a big guy. How are easy is it to get on and off the charter?
I would prefer booking through HAL if they are any good. Surf fishing would be a second choice.
Thanks!
Bonus question that I'm sure is fairly foolish but keep in mind my cruise experience is limited to old episodes of the Love Boat. LOL Does skeet shooting ever happen on cruises?

They also mention premium coffee under the non-alcoholic portion of the CBP list...so other Cafe Al Bacio coffees like lattes etc as well? At least I hope that's what they mean.
