  1. As far as mobility issues.....getting in and out of the boat was difficult for some. We had a woman onboard that had bad knees and they almost had to lower her into the boat (which made for an akward experience for both her and the boat guys). .

So you were on the same excursion as us :) That was my mom!! I was trying to figure out which one you were.

They SWORE she wouldn't have any problems getting on or off. We checked ahead of time. I am glad they were so accommodating, but had we known it would have been like that ahead of time, we wouldn't have booked it.

  2. Without quoting people because I am on my phone and can't figure out how to do it:

    1. I did do my due dilligence, or at at least I thought I had. I knew the track was above us, but reviews said the noise 'wasn't that bad', or it was only bad if they ran across the 'bridge part'.

    2. Open letter title is a joke, of course not everyone will read it....so literal

    3. We did try to address the issue. We informed our butler who said he would look into it. Besides posting up a person out there 24/7 I am not sure what they could really do.

    4. The hours are confusing - we looked into it! The signs say say the track is open 7am to 10pm, the freestyle daily says 9am to 10pm. Either way, 4am is obviously too early and 11pm is too late.

This post is really a reminder to be considerate of your fellow passengers. I think most people 'got' that.

  3. Dear inconsiderate jerks*,

There is a reason that the jogging track is only open during certain hours. NCL has this rule in place for a reason. It's a pretty good one too because as you are getting your sweat on at 4:30am, enjoying that runners high, breathing in the fresh salt water air, I am trying to get my baby back to sleep who was rudely awoken by your STOMP, STOMP, STOMP every 2 minutes (hey, good job on that eight minute mile! I am sure those pre-dawn runs are really what was able to help you cut it down...). In other words, the track on deck 13 is located directly over my storeroom on deck 12. Oh, the baby is back to sleep? STOMP, STOMP, STOMP, here comes another one at 5am, and 5:15, and 6, and 6:15, and around around you go. STOMP, STOMP, STOMP!

Then the post 10pm runners would start. STOMP, STOMP, STOMP. Seriously, who runs at 11pm on vacation?! You should be at the bar. That's where I'd be if I wasn't dealing said baby who is going bananas from being woken up at all hours of the day.

In closing, and on a more serious note, please be considerate of your fellow passengers. No one is saying you can't run (although in all honesty I am not sure why anyone runs without something chasing them) just do it doing the posted hours that the track is open.

*specifically directed towards those on the 4/3-4/10 sailing, but it applies to all inconsiderate jerks.

p.s. inconsiderate jerks aside, we had a lovely time and put a deposit down for a future cruise. Full review forthcoming some time this week.

  4. Hi, my mom sounds similar to your dad as far as limitations. We booked the Shark Ray Alley snorkeling tour through Coral Breezes Tours. On your way to snorkeling, you stop at Caye Caulker for a bathroom break, non-snorkelers can stay behind at this point, snorkelers go on and do their thing. You come back to CC and everyone meets up and hangs out and then goes back to port. They actually charge less for the non-snorkelers too. I think their prices are very reasonable: Adult, snorkel 72; adult non 42; kid (3-12) snorkel 60; non 32-- under 3 FREE

We depart on 4/3 for our cruise, so I'll let you know how it goes.

  5. This will be the first cruise we take our children, ages 14 and 22 months. We are trying to find a toddler friendly excursion in Belize. Any suggestions? DH has emailed Bottoms Up cave tubing and they said she is allowed there but not so sure have kid friendly it is? Also we dont want to have to carry a carseat around with us so suggestions on that as well. We will be going in April. TIA

I am having this same issue. We are also going to Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Roatan. I have found toddler friendly activities at all of these, but Belize continues to perplex me. I have no interest in the zoo, he is too young for the adventure activities, and I am not sure how he would be on a 30+ min boat ride to one of the beaches...

  6. Thank you for taking time to review your cruise! We have a family suite reserved right near the library for April on the Star and are trying to decide on "what to do and where" so your opinions are appreciated. Shame about the staff in the children's programs not being kinder to both you and your son. I don't know that my daughters will use it much anyway, neither are particularly joiners, lol. Thanks!

Us too! What sail date? we are on 4/3.

  7. I have heard that on NCL some off-duty stewards or house keeping staff will provide in-room baby sitting for an hourly, cash, fee. Of course, NCL's official policy is that they do not provide this service so I wanted to ask on here if anyone has done this? How did you find the person? How much did they charge? Were you happy? etc. Any insights you can provide would be helpful.

We are just looking to go to dinner by ourselves two nights, and maybe a show, not having the kids watched all day on a port day.

p.s. my kids are 7 and 1 (so the latter is too young for kids club or group sitting)

  8. SIBSIB-- I am almost the same demographic and looking for good things for my 1 y/o. What other ports are you visiting / what did you book? We will be in Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Roatan.

My kiddos will be 1 (22 months) and 7, so its hard finding something they can BOTH do/enjoy.

If there is a way to PM, I dont know it. New to this site, sorry!

  9. I am 83 days out from cruise. We have a suite with the 4 free offers included (drinks, dinning, excursion credit, some wifi mins). Shouldn't I be able to log in now and make reservations for dinning and excursions? When I go into my NCL account it only points me to booking the aforementioned packages we already have, not to booking restaurants or excursions specifically.
