  1. Hi I am wondering what we can do in ROATAN with kids with out booking from NCL? Any ideas? Or know of any sites I can search for details? Thank you!

My family and I are cruising in November

Ronystours.com - Can't say enough great things about him. We've used him many times. Your kids can also meet kids in his neighborhood if that type of thing interests you. We feel very blessed to travel and our little girl loves to take gifts to the children.

  2. Mamajules what did you do/see on your island tour? Was it exciting enough for the kids?

We have booked Ronys Tours, but don't know what to do. Our kids are 15 and 10, but we are also traveling with the grandparents.

You can do the Monkey stop. Go to South Shore Canopy and zipline with the kids. Rony can take the grandparents to a beautiful resort. He will come back and pick up those who wanted to zip and you can all meet for a beautiful afternoon at a fabulous resort.

  3. I can highly recommend Crescencio. He is very friendly and speaks good English. Some of the driver's have very poor English which can become difficult if you want to stop to see something particular or deviate from your plan.

  4. If EVERYTHING goes perfectly, you would make it. SJU can get really congested. We've flown in and out many times, but we've never tried to self disembark and get to the airport asap. It is possible, that the crowds are less if you arrive early.

I just checked the latest wait times. It looks like the wait time for the main security checkpoint is 5-7 minutes from 7am-9am and goes up to 27 minutes at 11 am. From that it looks quite possible that you could possibly get checked in rather quickly. I would worry about a delay in disembarkation. THere are a variety of reasons you could be delayed getting off the ship.

  5. While I have read that some sailings have had 3 formal nights, our sailing (6/7/12) had just 2. I questioned someone at the customer service desk. He said that if many cruisers (especially those with lots of prior sailings) request 3 formal nights, they add an addtional night. They want to keep the "frequent cruisers" happy. Also, if their are mostly non smokers onboard, they add an additional night. I guessing this is because they can increase casino revenue if it is non smoking.

He said they decide very last minute if the sailing will have 2 or 3 formal nights, so I don't think you will know for sure until you board.

  6. Hello - "going to see the world" from a fellow Pennsylvanian. We are in our 40's. We have a daughter just out of college and a 6 year old DD. We both have great work flexibility. We don't drive fancy cars and I have yet to receive a flawless diamond. We purposefully save for travel-almost as if it a necessity. We have been blessed to have 28 cruises under our belt so far-some more luxurious than others. It seems to be the only time we are all focused on making memories - not work, household chores, texting, boyfriends(not me, DD of course), etc. If we only had 5 days vacation per year - there is no doubt we'd spend them cruising. The memories are priceless!

  7. I just wish people would obey the rules even if they don't agree with them. Last cruise on the Liberty of the Seas an 18 month old had an accident(#2)and they had to shut the entire splash park down. Last day of the cruise and a sea day with 100's of little one's with nowhere to play because this lady didn't think it was fair that her little one couldn't play in the water too!

It was really a shame because our other sea day was rainy. I talked to a lot of mom's who saved for a year or more to go on a larger ship with splash park. Their only opportunity to use the splash park ended at 10:30am because one lady didn't like the rule.

  8. Thanks for the note. I thought we'd avoid the nudity of Orient if we went to Pinel. We have a four year old and would definately rather go to a non-nude beach. We've been to St. Martin several times and I'd really like to see Pinel Island, but the potential nudity isn't an option for us.

  9. I've actually paid for trip to purposefully swim with sharks. They are amazing. They are often interested in looking at humans, but then just swim away. They are magnificent to watch. I've swam with as many as 30-40 at one time and have never felt that I was in danger.

Just so you know, statistically, more people die from head injuries sustained from coconuts dropping from trees.

  10. You would need to check with reliable people in the areas you intend to visit. We have tried to mail boxes in the past. Unfortunately, the rate of theft is very high, as the boxes usually contain things that are of great value to local people who can afford little. We've found for many areas the only way to contribute items is to deliver them personally.

  11. My daughter and I have worked in orphanages and schools in several countries. We have found that most are in need of medical supplies. We usually take pain reliever/fever reducer and bandaids, etc. In most countries these are a luxury. If a child is in pain - even from a broken bone, they rarely have the means to take any kind of pain reliever. Also, toothbrushes and toothpaste. We consider these a necessity, but many children are thrilled to get new toothbrushes. Most of the children we have visited really like balloons. We blow them up and show them how to hit them in the air back and forth to each other. Lots of very inexpensive fun.

  12. I think it's a great idea. People would be able to spend as little or as much time together as they like. Kids club onboard would provide activities for anyone who brings children. I would definately decide as soon as possible. We did a family reunion cruise. You will want to get a group of cabins asap. It was nice because our travel agent did all of the brochures, took care of calling everyone and handled all of the payments. Plus, most of us had never cruised, so she helped us choose the cruise that was best for us. I can email you our flyer we sent out if you like. Just email me.
