  1. Is it just me or does it look like the head of your bed is in the other cabin space? It looks like you can knock on the wall and get a reply by your neighbor while lying in bed.

To me, it looks like the glass of the shower is open to the rest of the room.

  2. Why call it a " dress code" if there is no code! I really hope I don't run into anyone on my sailing who would cut anyone a "new a******", but I guess maybe that's the " new normal"! I thought Celebrity was a little better than that!

Because there is a dress code. It's just not a particularly strict one.

  3. It's an attitude thing, you get on the ship and at sailaway you hear the steel drum band, gets you ready for the week. Sorry, but I can hear Adele at home, I haven't been to a sailaway in years largely because of the music played.

Personal preference then, I guess. Getting to explore the ship is always the thing that puts me in the mood. I tend to always enjoy the live music, no matter what genre we're talking about. Loved the Great American Songbook act that was playing in the Rendez-Vous on my trip on the Connie last year.

I'm not a big attendee of the sailaway parties either, but it's more because I'm not fond of crowds like that.

  4. Totally agree. It adds to the "cruise experience".

Howso?I get that it's a personal preference thing, but it just seems like something you'd see on The Love Boat, and I've never had a cruise where a bunch of B-list celebrities were looking for love. Its absence doesn't really impact the experience any more than the lack of ice sculptures does.

I wonder if Carnival Journeys have them. I know they still do big midnight buffets.

  5. I always upgrade because I love their martinis. I always stick to the menu but do the bartenders know how to make any martinis that are off the menu? On Princess the bartenders were always getting me to try martinis not on the menu, like the key lime martini. That one was so good.

    Laura

I've had luck ordering off-menu at the martini bar. I don't even like martinis and they managed to come up with a whole lot of things that I liked.

My husband, who is a big martini fan, declared it his favorite place on Earth.

  6. Maybe I'm getting old, but my limit is far short of 16:D. Seriously. I've never seen anyone cut off, but then again I'd hope that Celebrity would cut someone off before they became a danger to themselves or someone else.

Depending on how watered down the drinks are. My experiences on Carnival was a decade ago, way before their Cheers package, but it was noticeable even then.

Have not really experienced that on X.

  7. Does the Martini Bar make drinks other than martinis?

I'm thinking of upgrading, but my DH does not like/drink any martinis. If i were to upgrade, he'd be just sitting there next to me with no drink and his hands folded like a schoolboy.

The Martini Bar is my husband's favorite place on the entire planet. I am not a fan, but the bartenders have always managed to improvise things I actually like. You'd be surprised.

What is the difference between premium and non-premium bottled water? Is it like Dasani versus Pellegrino?

  8. This is a known bug that even Captain's Club will acknowledge. After payment the reservation goes to revenue accounting and they enter the adjustment. It usually is completed in 7-10 days.

Of course. I'm guessing they're not going to put the extra money they're going to make from the Elevator Passes into website architecture either.

  9. Submitted final payment for our forthcoming Solstice cruise (biggest vacation I've paid for by a wide margin). Got an email invoice saying that everything is paid in full. The website still shows us owing the gratuities even though we're booked under Go Best.

Which do I go with? I really don't want to call them and get fifteen different answers.

  10. We like to dress up on our cruises. This June we will be on the Equinox, our first Celebrity cruise. It would be nice to hear from you after your March cruise about what the guys wear on Chic nights. My DH likes to wear his Tux. I know people will say to wear what we want. But, I don't want him to be the only one that dressed up.

Enjoy your cruise. Looking forward to your opinion.

If having a true formal night is part of the cruise experience for you, why does it matter to do if others aren't dressed as formally? I would hope the even the worst-mannered pax wouldn't be pointing and laughing. My last cruise, there was a guy who chose to get fully attired in a white tux and seemed to be having a splendid time dancing in the Rendez-Vous. Even if I was only in a collared shirt, I thought he was awesome.

Some folks have merely expressed that they prefer to have a couple dress-up nights. Yet many of you (the collective you) have ridiculed then, called them names (antiquated, backward, costumers, old, etc), and told them to go elsewhere....and demanded they forget about it and get on board with the new way of doing things. And worse, many of you (again, the collective you) complain bitterly that you are being put upon by even the suggestion that dressing formally a night or two was missed.

And yet, those of us who aren't fond of formal nights have been called "bums" that "belong at a flea-market."

Wear what you want. Put on your tux and tails. Be especially pedantic and explain for the millionth time that it's actually a dinner suit. No judgment here.

But do me the favor of giving me the same courtesy.

  11. Agree but the countries chosen were actually chosen by the Obama Administration who did the same ban on Iraq a couple of years ago. Perhaps people should actually read what the order says before panicking since it's not being reported accurately.

My husband works for the State Department.

  12. I learned when I was 24 and have been playing ever since; now I'm 70, so I presume you wouldn't call me young any more.

Not sure how a person plays ironically. There are some hotshot young players but perhaps those are the only young ones who play. Did Celebrity say they don't want old cruisers?

The irony comment was a joke on the stereotype (or is it a stereotype if it's true?) about the Brooklyn hipsters who are my neighbors.

I think it's awesome if bridge is an activity you enjoy whether 17 or 70. But if high stakes bridge is something that only appeals to a small subset of the pax, I don't know if it's reasonable to expect X to cater to them. I get why it would be good to have on a TA or TP when there are long stretches of sea days.

  13. It is only 7 very dodgy Muslim Countries that have a history of terrorist acts by its citizens that are affected. By the way it seems Iran has banned all American tourists from entering their country.Alah only knows what that will do to their tourist industry.

    😱😜

Except not Saudi Arabia, the UAE, or Lebanon, which was where all the 9/11 hijackers were from.
