    I am flying to Oslo.

everyone’s situation is different. I fly for a cruise, so I must get there on time. If SAS resumes flying and my original flight goes, great. Otherwise, I let them cancel me for full refund and potential compensation. Don’t think I would try them next time. Too unreliable. I cannot accept airline cancelling as late as 24-48 hrs.  Some years ago, I encountered a pilot strike situation from British Air.  They informed me of a potential strike over 2 weeks in advance. There was enough time for me to make alternative travel plan.  I ended up traveling days earlier. Airfare is more reasonable booking 2 weeks ahead instead of 2 to 6 days.

Do you think SAS will be around next year?  Or any SAS flight to/from US after consolidation?

I’m shocked what a small amount of flight options I have  open to me

    SAS really had market cornered

    not sure what to do

travel agent told me to hang tight as the prices go up

    Sorry, that makes no sense.

    What strike ?

What flight are arriving on, and which flight are you departing on. What date, what time,  and what terminal ?

Sorry I currently have a SAS direct flight but that might be cancelled so I am looking at alternative flights. No good alternatives thus I was asking layover questions but I agree one hour is too risky

    Exact details would help.

However,  can I suggest you post in the Cruise Air forum, where you will get better advice.

If you tell us your ultimate destination, and when your cruise departs,  you will get more help.

You really need a Plan B. Flights are chaotic worldwide at present. If you miss your connection,  what will you do ?

This is a problem I have direct SAS flight to Stockholm

indimt know if the strike will resolve and no good options from New Jersey to Stockholm

If you buy the flights  as a single ticket, yes, doable.  If two seperate tickets, no way.

For example,  the BA official minimum connection is 60 minutes if in the sane terminal, 90 minutes if travelling between terminals. This assumes you are travelling on a single BA ticket.

Thanks it’s one ticket four of us through united

    Where are you flying from?
there are almost no options from US to Stockholm

I asked my agent to look at cancel it and change it to next year if it doesn’t get better

I can’t afford a air flight that double to triple in price and the time on plane doubling

Yes, I booked SAS and alternate vendor flights on my own. I did so, mainly because my cruise operator did not have option for nonstop flights. Can’t answer about SAS connect, because all my SAS flight segments are strictly SAS (not select or connect). SAS website said the other units are not impacted by the pilot strike. Still, I heard many of their intra-Europe flights have been cancelled.

Personally, I worry more about the cross-ocean flights than intra-Europe flights.  Once I am in Europe, somehow I can more easily find transportation to get to my final destination.  I have a one-day cushion from a hotel night pre-cruise.

I benefited from this thread in that I was able to timely book a non-SAS flight for my specific travel dates, so I want to offer my advice to those who have upcoming SAS reservations, whether or not you have started your travel. Book an alternate flight from another airline as soon as possible.  Available flights are disappearing by the hour, and prices keep increasing.  I have been monitoring available flights and fare since yesterday morning.  As of now, whatever flight I got is it.

If you are not sure, at least pay a higher fare to get a refundable ticket. It is better to be sure you get to your destination, cruise or home, on a flight that suits your schedule and for the price you are willing to accept.

Did u book on your own?

Any chance SAS connect gets impacted ?

  8. I called them and it’s 250$ a person to change flight and even though SAS is on strike and filling for bankruptcy royal won’t make any changes and told me to wait

than if canceled flight and they find a flight for me which will be more expensive royal told me I pay the difference

Do not cancel your SAS flight yourself - wait for them to either cancel or re- route. When SAS cancel the flight less than 14 days before departure you’re entitled to a compensation of up to € 600 per person.

Thank you for the continued updates

I have flight with four people july 30th through royal Caribbean. Do you think I just wait or go ahead and rebook while I can find something. I don’t want to jeopardize getting to Stockholm for the cruise

We will know a lot more tomorrow morning - right now positive messages, but no valid messages.
I suppose your journey is end of July - if strike tomorrow I will personally see what happens within the next few weeks.

    Correct

first family vacation in years and before my daughter goes away to college

I looked at all flight options are horrible and some cost as much as cruise

The announced pilot strike has once again been postponed - until Monday at 12 noon.

It is moving forward, but the parties are still very far apart. The negotiations between SAS and the company's pilots have been extended.

Thanks trying to figure out if I need ti

cancel SAS and book another one

Thanks for the update. It sounds encouraging that they can get it settled without a strike, but as they say "the devil is in the details". So to quote the great philospher Yogi Berra, "it ain't over until it's over.".

Any update? I don’t see anything online

In the long run, restructuring is necessary - if the necessary restructuring does not take place now, there will most likely not be a SAS in six months.  Wages and working conditions for SAS Scandinavian are a ‘relic of the past’.
For SAS Connect and SAS Link, personnel are employed on market terms similar to other airlines.

Does not sound like the pilots will settle

so the company goes under or someone folds

  14. 1 minute ago, hallasm said:

yes, if the conflict is not resolved or start of strike postponed 14 days.

What I read and the restructure / the strike would be worse than settling the strike

    peak season

SAS makes the money on the international flights not the local ones

    Coming from where?

    Within Schengen - no problem.

Non  Schengen to Schengen - normally close but doable, yet right now there are problems due to staff shortages everywhere.

Newark to Munich than Munich to Stockholm

     one hour layover

You might want to check availability and prices for Icelandair. I know it’s not non-stop but the stop in Keflavik (KEF) is relatively short and airport not that big. Very efficient.

Flights will arrive to ARN or CPH just after noon.
Might even be an advantage with the short break.

Thank you I will take a look

I hate to cancel SAS flight which was good time and price but looking at backups

Have you checked the rates for booking another airline, especially at such late notice?  Rates are sky-high (no pun intended.)

    I know so

wait and hope SAS strike resolve and if doesn’t than I have to scramble to find a flight

or book a more stable airline

    not easy decide

  18. 3 hours ago, hallasm said:

    There are currently three options.
     (i) The strike can start from June 29, (ii) the pilots and SAS before June 29 agree on new working agreements.  (iii) or the conciliator chooses to postpone the strike for up to two times 14 days. Postponing is a very likely option.
Personally, I would rather end a holiday with a strike than at the beginning.  Airlines are more motivated to help on the return journey as they have to pay for accommodation and meals in addition to compensation for delays according to the EU 261 charter.

Ok it’s tough as SAS is the only direct flight from Newark area

all other flights are layovers and get late into Sweden

debating on canceling flight and booking with another airline
