Could it be Legend or Splendour?  Wouldn't explain the Anchor logo but nothing else makes sense

Legend and Splendour did not have the slanted smoke stack at the aft end of the ship.  Also, the Legend and Splendour were the only two of the 6 in Vision class that had three decks of aft staterooms.  Today's ship had only the two decks.

  2. Hello All - great to read all of your responses.

I can't yet seem to get my photos onto the laptop to post for you.  I'll keep working on that.

Again, the Rhapsody is right in front of the Jewel on the pier.  The Vision is at anchor out in the water - apologies for saying it was in the bay.  I don't know where the bay ends and the ocean begins.  Also I stink at judging distance.

It is most definitely the Vision.  I know all of the Vision class ships, and I can tell the difference between the Grandeur and her two cousins the Rhapsody and the Vision.

I will work on the photo situation.

  3. What do y'all  make of this?--

I am on the Jewel of the Seas.  Today there are 4 Royal Caribbean ships tied up at the piers in Phillipsburg, Saint Martin:  The Jewel, The Rhapsody, The Explorer, and the Harmony.

Out in the bay, the Vision of the Seas is at anchor, looking ghostly.  There is no activity to be seen on the ship; no tenders, etc.  The most intriguing thing is that the name of the ship is painted out on the aft end and the bow end.  The blue crown and anchor are still on the stack though.

A few of us in the Diamond Lounge were buzzing about this.  At first when we sailed in we weren't sure what ship she was because of no name on her aft, but then by comparing photos and looking at her sister the Rhapsody, we knew it was the Vision (and not the Grandeur).

Why is this?  Anyone know what's going on with her?

  4. Hello All~~

When I look at deck plans and at photos of the front of Anthem of the Seas, I see an odd space that exists between the "102" rooms and the "500" rooms on Decks 8 through 11, just to the port side of the center line.

If you look closely at photos of the front face of the ship, the port side has 4 staterooms in this category and the starboard side has 5. Just off to the port side of center there is a space there, which to my eye might be more than just structural. Is there any equipment housed there? Is it a closet area for the staff?

I would love to book one of these centered staterooms, but I don't need any surprises!

Has anyone stayed in these rooms? Does anyone know?

If you are sailing on Anthem soon, could you talk a walk and investigate for me, please?

    Thank you~~

  5. Hello All~~

My Question: What is the deadline for naming the second person in my stateroom and providing all information about them?

I've been searching around on Cruise Critic and the RCCL website, but cannot find the answer. I don't wish to trust someone at the call center.

I wish to travel on the January 26th sailing of the Anthem. Once I hear back from you, I will book, but I don't know yet who I can find as a 2nd guest (friends are checking their work schedules)

I don't have a travel agent; I always book online with RCCL.

Do I have this right: I understand that the process will have me pay for two people, as would a solo traveler, but >> how long do I have to find a person to go with me? What is the deadline for naming that second person and providing all information about them?

Also is it true I should put TBD in the line for the 2nd guest and not leave it blank? I did see that on some of the search results.

I am very grateful for your help!

  6. Dear Two Wheels Only~~

I am hugging you over the internet. Thank you so very much for your quick response and the key to a very great resource, which I did not know how to get to.

You are very kind to help with what must get asked over and over again. You've saved me valuable time, and I appreciate it.

May you have a wonderful weekend and many many happy cruises in the future.

  7. Dear NCL experts...

On the Deck 8 deck plans there is a certain shape to each of the M6 staterooms, in addition to the Plus and Triangle symbols indicating a 3rd or 4th guest possible.

    1) Does the jog in the wall on the deck plan mean anything?

    2) Can one tell if the bed faces forward or aft?

    3) Can one tell if the bed is nearer the balcony or nearer to the bath/hallway?

Thank you very much for your help.

  8. John -

Thank you for clearing the fog. Someone told me that the Veendam and her three sisters were the same.

Do you know why only the Veendam is different (among the 4 sister ships)? Will changes be made in the future to her sister ships, or was this an experiment that then was not executed on all the others?

Did the Rotterdam ever have an aft pool?

    Thank you~~

  9. Hello Holland America specialists~~

.... a Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruiser here....

We are looking to try our first Holland America cruise soon, and we are getting lost in the searches and online brochures and available material regarding refits and renovations over the years, so please help us:

As of May 2016, which Holland America ships, if any, still have a regular swimming pool on the aft of the ship, as opposed to a redone area with whirlpools and shallow splash area?

DH and I enjoy using the swimming pools and are looking for something different from RCI and Celebrity (no aft pools ever), so the first of many question arises.

Thank you so much for your replies~~

  10. With the zipline there the lagoon island can't be exclusively Yacht Club only. Something I thought when I read about a YC area in "the north west" part. Probably too big to exclude it anyways. :)

The island as shown in post #17 is a proper orientation, with North being at the top of the photo, as some of you likely already know. So the promotional drawings are not oriented north-top; they show the east coast on top. The ship pier will be on the south side of the island.

The northwest part of the island doesn't have the zipline, so I have hope that there indeed will be a portion exclusive to the Yacht Club.

  11. We are Diamond Plus on Royal Caribbean. We were seriously shopping a cruise on the Breakaway, which would be our first NCL cruise.

We will NOT be booking a trip because of this business of not being able to take food from the buffet back to the room.

It is that important to us.

Early early morning... After a shore excursion... It's handy to be able to swing by the buffet and get a small, QUICKLY PROCURED snack, go back to the room and be alone, undisturbed.

It's not about the money for us--it's about the selection and instant results.

  12. Have you been here clear.gifCountdown to Quantum Class

Oh yes, I have been to the Quantum special thread--a great thread! Actually, my intention was to post my questions there, but I see today that I bungled that up.

Sad to hear the likely off-limits helipad. :( I have enjoyed such a sense of serene freedom and peace sitting out on the helipads of other Royal ships while at sea.

Thank you all for your replies~~

  13. Hello All~~

On impulse I booked a cruise for January 2015 on Quantum, so now I've been wandering around the threads here looking for info on Quantum....

Is it known yet, or would anyone care to speculate......

    1) Will there be a specialty coffee and pasty place? I was greatly spoiled by Cafe al Baccio on the Celebrity Summit. I haven't been on a Royal ship in too many years.

    2) Will passengers be able to go out onto the helipad at the front of the ship? We can on many Royal ships, but we could not on the Celebrity ship. I so love the helipads, but I'm seeing comments on how the Quantum resembles the Solstice, which would make the helipad off limits to passengers.

    Thank you very much~~
