I've had the same question. From what I've read there is no priority entry to the building - it goes by boarding time or just devolves into one big line. Once you get inside there's a separate priority check in. January will be my first time cruising from Baltimore.

Thinks of taking advantage of a great offer - mini suite, $1500 free play, Princess Plus. Anyone know if this can be applied to two cruises back to back? Are all the perks good on both, including free play?
thanks.

Download it at home. Download at the standard locations...McDonald's, Starbucks, etc.
Free downloads have a limited time they are good for and this is a 16 night cruise. So will need to download on the islands for the sea days back to the mainland. Ideally would like to do that right at the cruise terminal and the run computer back onto the ship.

On the Legend to Hawaii and looking to download some Netflix content for the sea days going back to LA. We're porting in Hilo, Kona, Maui, Honolulu and Kauai. I don't want to drag my computer far. I know some ports in other places have WiFi. Thanks.

Be sure to let us know what they say. That's just wrong and is not stated in the terms and conditions.

Enjoying your posts and also your LIVE posts elsewhere.
Just a note, Carnival cut their network TV at the end of last year. TV is dismal now on Carnival. Princess has so much better and numerous TV offerings.
-
Note, TNT, TBS, TCM ars not what you see in the US. They seem to be showing a packaged schedule that repeats in a loop. For example I did a 13 night cruise and TNT showed Godzilla at least 7 times that I saw. Other shows repeated too on that and the other stations. This was January and first cruise after they cut the networks .

We have two cruises booked for summer 2019, both currently have the sip and sail promo. We got our casino discount on one of them (an 18 day sailing) but were told no on the other (a 16 day sailing) because of the sip and sail. What's interesting is that the one with the casino discount is almost sold out, and the other where we didn't get it has tons of cabins left....so it doesn't seem like it be a case of capacity controlled.
.
I think it's capacity controlled but not based on general booking. I think the casino offer is allowed x number of cabins on a sailing. So if the casino offer capacity on the sailing is 10 cabins and 10 people book under the offer before you, then you can't get apply it to that sailing.

Really seems like the "Carnivalization" of Princess, ie no cabins till 1. Watch for being able to buy access (I know they have tested that already). Although Carnival at least lets Platinium and Diamond (Elite) have access.
Things that set Princess apart are disappearing. Like this issue. Like real coffee cards where you could use punches on subsequent cruises. Happy hour.
Looking into my crystal ball, watch for: No room service on embark/debark day; charging for room service after 10pm.

I was on Splendor in January through the Panama Canal and internet was AWFUL!

I've booked plenty of premier cruises and never had a problem printing all my docs and boarding pass way before the cruise. Check and be sure that you've completed all your check in process on line. Also make sure you've chosen a check in time.

I'm sad that Dream will be leaving NOLA too. It's my favorite class ship and NOLA is the only port within a reasonable ((8hr) drive. Don't like Conquest class.
If Breakaway is coming to NO, maybe time to give NCL a try

I could not agree with you more. First time I ever gave Princess a bad review on Horizon Buffet. We were on British Isles in August. Tried both and they were OK but would not do again. And the Buffet was awful IMO. I could never find anything I wanted to eat. Selection was terrible. I wrote on my survey that I hope they would not add this idea to other ships.
I filled out my survey too - lowest scores I've ever given.
Over 14 days, I walked out of Horizon several times with nothing. Saw meatloaf 3 times and it was not good meatloaf.

We did a partial transit on the Pride in March. The casino was open for its usual hours for a sea day - 7 AM to late for slots, 10 AM to late for table games.
P.S. I'm also on your cruise! Don't take all their money before I get to it!
Thanks. It should be a fun cruise!

Am doing a full transit in January on Splendor - a Premier Cruise. Is the casino closed that day? Honestly, I hope it is. LOL.
Just curious.
-
Was on CB 10/14 - 21 and Steamers/Planks pretty empty. I didn't go and would not pay extra for that.
Feel that one of the consequences for those added venues was a great reduction in the variety and quality of the regular Horizon Buffet food. Felt it was worse than my other recent Princess cruises. IMHO.
Hope they don't extend this to other ships.

Have a great trip! I loved sailing the Grand to Hawaii last year so much that I've booked again for next October! Crew is great.

Princess casinos are probably the worst as far as comping drinks while playing and lacking any sort of 'drinks on us' program.
The only time you get consistently get drinks while playing is if you are lucky enough to get a VIP cruise offer. There are several cruises offer thru the year which are VIP cruises. Those include a free drink card to be used while playing in the casino.
Otherwise it's up to the casino host to notice your play/points and offer you a drink now and then. Although I did hear a rumor that on Emerald there's something on the screen where you see your points while playing slot which offers/earns a drink every so often based on accumulation of points. Don't know if that's a test or what.

I was on the same sailing, Caribbean Princess 10/7. Booked on a comeback offer for free balcony. I'm a slot player but have read your reports over the past few years. I did hear lots of cheers and whoops coming from the craps table occasionally.
From a slot player standpoint, was not pleased with the casino - the games, the stingy payouts, the management, lack of comp'd drinks, lack of any sort of drawings or raffles (fireball or hot seat like on Carnival). Both Doral and the casino host Aowe were on the Crown TA in April that I was on. Aowe was nice enough and remembered me. I left a lot of money behind and did get a come back offer but much more limited than the last and doubt I'll use it.
Think in future I'll limit my gaming on Princess.

There is no Drinks on Us program on Princess. If you are in the casino a lot and have a high point count, you may get a few comp'd drinks. Would recommend you introduce yourself to the casino host at the start.
I would definitely contact the players club and ask about any cash comps based on your Carnival play. Give them your past Carnival ship, sail dates, and booking # along with what Princess cruise you'll be on and booking number. I can't say for sure that you'll be offered casino cash however a few years ago - going from Princess to Carnival - I did get a couple of hundred in casino cash on Carnival.
Princess does have a Come Back program now like Carnival's Bounce Back. They seem to be a little easier to book - less restrictions as to what sailings you can use them on. In fact, I'm sailing on Caribbean Princess 10/7 for 14 nights in a balcony cabin on a Come Back offer!
Good luck and have fun.

Just got off Carnival Dream yesterday. Early on hit $1890 playing a wonder 4 machine. Then last night of the cruise, hit a Grand jackpot for $10,000! Was on a Chinese themed machine, Dancing Drums.
There were a lot of big pays. I know of a $20,000 & a$17,000. Plus other smaller wins announced.
Fun trip!

I saw recent mentions that the cocktail party was now a buffet line for snacks and they are no longer brought around by the waiters but unknown if fleet wide. I'll be on premier next week so will see.
When I changed the champagne, I was in the room once when they delivered. Told the guy I couldn't drink champagne (gives me a headache) and asked if they could send white. He said he'd check and white was delivered next day. Another time I took the bottle down to the premier host and gave it to them. But simply going to a bar is a much better idea.
-
Thanks for your reply! Sounds great and I'm excited to finally take one. But now I have more questions. :) Was the champagne decent? What was the prize for the slot tournament? Was the number of points required a great amount, or did just about everybody qualify? Any other perks for premier VIPs, for example, do you get steakhouse dinner faster, or the same as a regular player? Or do they skip some of those perks because you're already getting other things?
Champagne was the cheap stuff. Gives me a headache so I don't drink it. I have had them sometimes exchange for a white wine (also cheap stuff).
Prize for slot tourney was a free cruise. I think you needed 1000 points to enter but not sure.
Depending on your play, the hosts may find you and offer steakhouse, spa, send wine to your table or offer steak option in main dining room.
