Hopefully, this information will help.  The allotment from Princess for food is $100 pp, per day.  I'll attach a copy of the letter we were provided while onboard the Emerald last month and the info from the company contracted to assist you while in isolation.  You will be reimbursed for the food allotment.

Btw, you will not hear from Princess or the CDC.  We were allowed to walk around outside the hotel, while wearing masks.   Let me know if I can answer any specific questions???  The Carefree Travel rep called us everyday while in isolation to see if we needed any assistance.

Do you mean, if we feel better enough to do so, in a couple days we can go outside the hotel and explore with masks?

They said my wife didnt test positive onboard, so I thought the 100/day was just for me.

if this was the case why didn’t they just let us fly home masked?

Dang, if I lived closer, I'd bring some excellent homemade meals for you and drop them off at your door, knock and high tail it out of there.  Sure hope you feel well soon.

    Thats sweet of you.

Our DoorDash groceries just arrived and a wonderful couple we met onboard (best thing of the cruise) who also both got Covid and live local have also offered to bring food for us if needed.

With all those symptoms and how you are feeling, please, please seek medical care ASAP.

Don't assume all will be OK without medical treatment.

    Thanks,

I feel rotten, I think I’ll be fine in a few days. Like a really bad flu/ cold. I’m more concerned about the brain fog and the long term / permanent damage effects that can happen.

I just didn’t want to see them repeat the same mistakes they made with our cruise by dropping all the testing.

we were so successful in protecting ourselves from Covid over the last 2 years.

we also thought that if someone tested positive onboard, they would do contact tracing using the meddaian to find close contacts annd then test them.

  4. I wish someone from the cdc will do a real investigation.

DoorDash driver said her mom works at airlines and tons of fake Covid cards out there.

    it makes sense.

when we arrived to embark, we expected to show our rapid test, have our vaxx cards scanned and verified and then get a pcr test. None of this happened. They only did a quick look at our cards and didn’t scan the QR code at all, same with the rapid test result… it could have been a screen shot of someone else’s.

Have you gotten any medicine?  I think you are still in the window to get Paxlovid but you would need to get it soon.

My wife brought plenty of cold and medical on the cruise, so we do have that. No medicines provided.

we are in better shape than others who didn’t bring meds or are feeling too Ill to use DoorDash to order them.

  6. We are 24hr into our 5 day hotel quarantine.

no contact from princess, the cdc or anyone.

last night was rough with many visits to the toilet to..,.

muscles ache like never before, head pounding and very congested; but no fever. I don’t want to even move, but breathing is good and coughing the Covid out. Yesterday I felt the worst was over, now I’m not so sure.

my wife, who they said tested negative (we never saw proof of her tests) is now not feeling well either. the quarantine support is non existent. The hotel staff is allowed to bring DoorDash up to our room and knock, but when my wife ordered a sandwich, fries and dessert for herself from the hotel restaurant it cost over $40 and she was required to go down to the restaurant to pick it up??

ladt night she used DoorDash to get herself and order of sesame chicken, rice and coke and that cost $45.
to survive on the $100/ day they allow for expenses we will order some groceries by DoorDash with our allotment.

I need to call insurance today when my head stops pounding.

I feel sorry for those on board right now if they didn’t make everyone including staff to take a pcr test departure, it will be worse in Hawaii.

I’m not sure what further proof you need that the sky is blue and the grass green.  Whether or not outbreak is the correct word can be debated, but there has definitely been an elevated number of COVID cases on board the Ruby Princess. The captain’s letter states as much.  I don’t think anyone has claimed that the news needed to be notified.

Thank you for all your travel reports along the way. I’ve been reading since you boarded and it was the first thing I checked every morning.
We would have booked the previous cruise, but our anniversary was on this one.

So how long do you have to stay in your hotel room before you test negative for cOVID again or is that not the procedure? Are you free to roam the hotel or is somebody monitoring you? Sounds as if you were taken to the hotel ,but no real instructions or?  Do you get to wander about and have food in the restaurants at the hotel or is everything brought to you? Well I do hope  you and your wife/traveling partner test negative soon or carry out your prescribed time period. I’m glad you’re feeling better as you posted .

    5 days until 4/1/22

Based on the loose quarantine ( I thought we would be in an isolated wing where there was oversight, but just a regular room on diff floors with no cdc), we may not get tested again at all.

we will just do our time and update here about the process/ experience.

    on a sad note.
they gave us obc that was non refundable, but no way to spend it. Our apps couldn’t buy stuff after our cabin changed.

my wife called about buying the pictures that were taken by us, but it didn’t happen. No option for buying a future cruise deposit either, so unless they come back and tell us they will comp us a future cruise, we will be done.

  9. We made it to our hotel, but no real lockdown/quarantine just honest system I guess.

they gathered all of us early and my wife counted over 100 of us. Saw a port person from customs I suppose took a picture of the crowd.

if we had under 1600 onboard and 100 sick sent off then that’s a pretty high percentage.

As we were walking down aloha we heard someone call out from their state room the they were staying on for Hawaii…is that allowed? Maybe after their 5 days in quarantine they can go back on deck.

im feeling a little better today.

I found from others that they were able to order food and drink from the app. This wasn’t available to us as our room was registered to another passenger and they couldn’t fix it. Medallion has a way to go yet, still lots of bugs in it.

I hope the cdc does a real investigation.

we never went thru customs or even had to show a passport, they just whisked us thru to the curb.. so smugglers take note;)

  10. Dinner arrived, but they seen to never get it right or leave out a critical component, like bringing our dinner with 1 set of silverware, lucky we had an old fork from lunch.

I know they are scrambling and one doesn’t know what the other does or doesn’t.

crew chat told us that we have to call the hotel and make reservations. So we do and the person at the hotel said they had 2 large groups booked already and it has to be done through princess. So had to call back. It’s all taken care of now, after we put down $1000 deposit for our stay by credit card. They said they would provide vans and or ambulance to transfer us. I did get them to remove medical charges for either the tests they for calling the nurse for advice not sure.

all we need to do is figure out airlines flights and someone who can care for our pets for 5 days.

we have the water and ice and just finished dinner and put our bags out.

I was so looking forward to this cruise and having such fun and good times. Maybe I’ll wake up in the morning and find out we are just about emBark on this cruise and it was just a bad dream… I wish.

If your husband is not quarantined with you, can he go in person to guest services to alert them that you are not receiving services in a timely manner?

We used the crew chat and they are trying. They just delivered ice and pops, but no glasses at all in our room.

reading lamp doesn’t work. I think they gave us a room used for spare parts, but there’s a previous occupant name on the tv and room door, so maybe not.

whohoo glasses just arrived and it’s amazing how much an ice cold soda satisfies when you need one and waited since 12:30 when we ordered lunch.

im still wondering what they will do tomorrow.

our hotel we had booked said we are not welcome with Covid and I don’t know if it’s up to us to find a room or if they are taking all us out of town people to a special hotel. I sure dot. Want to be home less for 5 days.

    i would be Iivid!!!

are you locked in that quarantine cabin?

They are putting your health at risk!!

Not locked in, but I’m about to put on a mask and see how far I can get towards getting some soft drinks and ice for our sore throats. Been trying to order dinner for an hour but all the lines they gave us are busy all the time

  13. Can’t order food or drink from the app in quarantine area. Ordered 2 cokes with our lunch than never arrived and called to reorder. It’s now several hours after lunch without getting the soft drinks.

now all the call numbers they gave us just ring busy.

yea, I’m a whiner when I’m sick and thirsty for something cold in my sore throat

“Arrange” means identify and possibly reserve. An earlier post indicated that people had to save all receipts and submit them for reimbursement.

That is always true for travel insurance even on Princess with their branded policies. Remember, insurance is underwritten by a major insurer and administered by AON. Princess has nothing to do with it except to provide a Family Assistance liaison to help you file a claim. So - have your credit card ready whether you have Princess insurance or a third-party policy.

We have to pay for all our care up front and sometime in the future maybe get reimbursed

  15. About smoking, they have had casino smoking the whole cruise as far as I know.

plus smoking on parts of pramanade deck and sun deck. I’ve never remember smellingso much smoking on previous cruises with princess, but those were royal class.

I would put the nice anniversary cake they gave us back in the fridge, but there wasn’t one.

friends we met on the ship are also both positive.

I wonder what the final count will be or if we will ever know

  16. Just added some vitamin c to one of the water bottles we brought from our original cabin, took a drink and went to put it in the fridge and opened to door to find no fridge.

I was not feeling well beginning on the 21st our 30th anniversary. I thought it was just the beginning of a cold.

I have mild cognitive impairment and trouble controlling chills or overheating.

our letter said well would be compensated for our last day

they just showed up to re sanatize of bathroom after it was left full of someone’s poop.

  17. Back in December or January I had heard they were giving a future cruise or a refund…believe me, it’s not worth it.

I thought we were fairly safe since they were reducing precautions and testing.

now thinking about the extra dining room and caribe cafe being closed and at times only serving food from one side of horizon court.

this whole thing is on whoever decided to get rid of testing and mask enforcement!

it’s not on us at all and I just want not be sick and to wake up to this bad dream.

As with pre-cruise testing, if you catch the virus at a port stop you will not test positive returning to the ship. It will be 3 to 5 days later Covid would be detectable.

Testing of all needs to be done mid-cruise.

    I agree.

  19. Not sure if they would pay for a rental car or not. Those are really pricy right now and I’m not feeling well enough to drive to Colorado.

im getting worse now and can’t hear anything but ringing. Going to see if doctor can give me something for high anxiety. Been taking Zyrtec all along to prevent allergies.

hindsight is so 20/20. No wonder I haven’t felt like drinking since Costa Rica

  20. I think this is a big one.

just went to use the bathroom in our quarantine cabin and lifted the toilet led to find it full of diarea, it did flush though.

very disgusting. The shower gel was completely empty… so I think they are scrambling to find rooms. Just glad we have a window still for the last day of or 30th anniversary cruise

Simple solution, wash your hands before you eat or use hand sanitizer, it's not that complicated. That or cruise on HAL if that's your biggest concern, which it shouldn't be in the grand scheme of things.

We did, but of course not everyone did and there was no enforment in tight spaces like the theater.

what is the timeframe from catching to showing symptoms? It’s possible we were all walking around 4 days ago spreading it.

If you have travel insurance - make sure you seek their coverages also.

Godspeed for healing! Thank you for posting a very honest report of what is going on as I board a ship this next weekend. I will be extra careful now.

    Ok thanks for the tip.

I hope we get some help in finding hotel or seeing if our 1 night scheduled hotel will take us and extend or stay

I’ve got so much brain fog and anxiety right now. The whole port side of aloha deck if for Covid, not sure about other floors or sides.

I think they are very chump in their lower standards just for our cruise.
I thought all the people getting off in Costa Rica where performers going to a different ship, I guess not.

missed final formal night for a hotdog.

I can’t believe they won’t refund at least half the cruise.

if totally screws your life over.

don’t have anyone to watch our dog after Monday. Our paid parking for our car expires then as well so need to contact and hope it isn’t towed away.

missed doctors appointments that took months to schedule.

sorry, the staff has been great, but we are really screwed.

will they pay for lost work too, I doubt.

  23. Moved us the aloha deck using an interior

dozens of red and orange tagged doors long the way.

letter says they will reimburse us for the day in quarantine cabin as a future credit (like we would come back with only 1 day credit given). They will also pay for 4 days of hotel quarantine and 100 a day for food. We need to make arrangements  this is terrible. It’s a not just a flu, some symptoms may never go away, it’s just to new to really know.

we did everything right and quarantined for 10 days at home before the trip
