  1. We were on a cruise with, something like, 200 people from Tupperware. It seemed fine to us. We didn't even really notice them besides when they took over the Observation Lounge.

But 500 attorneys? Hope the bartenders don't get any drink orders wrong!

  2. If anyone has taken the Butchart Gardens Tour in Victoria how much time you get to spend at the gardens?

Are you doing just the Gardens or the Gardens and castle?

We did the tour with both and got a couple hours at the gardens which was more than enough time to explore it all.

  3. We've been on 2 Celebrity Cruises in the past 2 years, and we loved every single second of it.

The staff was always phenomenal, we loved the on board entertainment when we went and the locations were amazing.

Sorry if your experience wasn't what you were wanting, but Celebrity still seems like a top notch cruise line to us and we are already planning another cruise soon!

  4. A lot of grumpy people in here, it seems.

You're really no more likely to "fall overboard" playing Pokémon GO than you are from doing anything else on a cruise ship.

If kids, or anyone, wants to use their vacation for this, then it's completely their prerogative.

To actually answer the question of the topic though:

No. It's really unlikely anyone will be finding Pokémon on a cruise ship, even if you have the internet package (which you'd need to even open the game). The game works on already planned out Geo Locations for cities and towns. Cruise ships exist outside of that, and won't register as actual locations for the game.

So, fear not. Your cruise will be safe. In towns, though, may be another story.

  5. It's funny. I keep seeing these posts decrying the younger cruises and millennials. However, my experience is a bit different.

As someone that enjoys traveling and cruising, and is in their very early 30s, most of the people I see not ad hearing to any sort of dress code and acting foolish have been in their late 40s to 50s.

All of the entertainment on Celebrity still caters mostly to an older demo, as well.

And even if some of it is trying (albeit poorly) to appeal to younger cruisers, why is that bad?

Stagnation is death for a business. Simple facts.

Celebrity definitely seems to still be one of the top cruise lines for people of all ages, unless your thing is water slides 24/7.

  6. At only $50 pp it's definitely worth it.

The welcome aboard bubbly is not so good, but the first day lunch for CC, the free snacks (and fruit) in room and the (most importantly) quicker boarding times are definitely worth the slight increase.

Plus, you'll likely have a slightly better room position on the ship.

  7. I know our Reflection Mediterranean cruise for 2017 was changed just a day or two after the airport attack.

Originally they had us stopping in Ephesus but now we're going to Malta.

I'm sure Celebrity will be changing a lot more of their cruises here very quickly. Changing cruises that are already fully booked and set can't be easy though.

  8. In a lot of the towns you can do the excursions yourself for a fraction of the cost.

Rainforest hikes in Ketchikan are simple. The Visitor Center guide will give you lots of information and maps for them all.

Juneau is amazing and definitely do the whale watching. You can get to Mendenhall for $30 (there and back) right from the dock. But I'd still get a whale watching excursion if you can. Such a cool event.

Skagway is a great little town to wander all the shops. And you can rent scooters for cheap and go up into the mountains! (Just watch for bears!)

Victoria is a beautiful town. You have to see the Butchart Gardens and Craigdarroch Castle. Such a wonderful history.

Be sure to pack for cold weather and warm weather. It'll likely be raining at some of your stops and when you're on the water or in the Fjord, it'll be cold (if not freezing!).

    Most importantly, have fun!

  9. (We had the "funniest and best Captain on the ship").

I know everything is Captain Kate right now, but Captain Tasos (the younger brother), is amazing.

He's absolutely brilliant, skilled and one of the most personable people I've meet.

I had the honor of being part of the Captain's Dinner and he was an unforgettable event.

I'd sail exclusively on Solstice just for him!

  10. The hardest part of leaving a Celebrity Cruise is that you can't find anything even close to as good as Café Al Bacio anywhere. It's amazing how prompt the service is and how amazing all the drinks and pastries are.

Just counting down the days until our next cruise now!

I will say, I've been looking into buying some sets and teas from TeaForte (who provide the glassware and teas to the Celebrity ships). Such an amazing product!

  11. :p That's like saying a Mercedes is just a car!

    .

    Exactly!

As mentioned above' date=' it's not "near" the docks but 2.5-3km is certainly walkable. I'm sure you won't have a problem bringing them on board. Here's a little map. Blanchard@Johnson is in the upper right.

Thank you very much for the map! It'll come in handy!

    Thanks for the responses, everyone!

  12. My beautiful fiancée and myself are doing our first cruise on the Solstice coming up. One of our stops will be in Victoria, BC. She absolutely adores Tim Horton's (we get it every time we're in Ohio).

This may be the strangest thing asked on this forum, but what is the status of getting Tim Bits in Victoria near the docks, and what's the policy on bringing them back to the ship?

    Thanks in advance!
