  1. I always find it funny to walk in to your cabin and have a 3 oz bag of shortbread cookies on a ship full of sweets. I guess its great for those times when you go starving from walk from the WJ back to your room but along with the mints on the pillows to me this just seems silly. Give me a free ice cream from B&J instead of some cookies i can go seek out elsewhere.

  2. So how is this enforced? I was thinking of buying one package but getting my wife drinks using it. How can that work or not work?

Unfortunately that is what they refer to as stealing and it is very much against the rules. Would you ever walk into a buffet, pay for one person and let your wife "eat off your plate"? If you get caught, and yes I have seen a LOT of people get caught you will end up paying full price for every drink you have bought and your package will be revoked. Makes for a pretty lousy trip I am sure.

  3. I send requests to shareholderbenefit@rccl.com and have always received a reply within a few days - many times the next day.

Is this the typical response you get when you email for the shareholder OBC?

Thank you for using our Coupon Redemption Center.

We have received and applied your Royal Caribbean International coupon as requested.

  4. Call me cynical but it sounds like he got his extra gratuity for befriending you and has now moved on and is making friends with other guests.

Completely Agree with this. I'm sure he is a great guy with a lot of stories but he has another few thousand guests to try to make their vacation more enjoyable and possibly get additional gratuity. Don't take it personally, if you enjoyed your vacation that is what matters.

No he did not get fired or reprimanded for talking to a guest for a lengthy period of time, i've had plenty of those type conversations, it just makes me tip them well and come back again.

  5. Most drones are powered by lithium-ion polymer batteries which have a bad reputation for catching on fire if not handled properly. Just ask Samsung! While drones may be prohibited simply because RCI doesn't want them flying around the ship, it's more likely that fire is the major issue. If that's the case, I doubt that they'd allow it on board at all.

Based on this logic they would ban all laptops, Iphones, Androids, battery powered tooth brushes, battery shavers. I think its because a drone can literally slice a nice gash into human skin and can has the ability kill people. Put 4000 - 20,000 people in a confined space (multiple ships docked) with some inexperienced drone pilot doing risky maneuvers and you have a recipe for disaster.

  6. Am I the only person who gets emails from RCL with someone else's name in the subject line? For example the email this morning has the subject:

Sherrie, it looks like you left your drinks behind

I have never known a Sherrie, Never Traveled with a Sherri, my name is Chris. I have gotten similar emails with the name MARK in the subject. For me I just laugh but for someone who is very particular they could take this in a negative way.

  7. I dont understand how they do their math. I am sailing next August and just got the email about it being discounted. It says $48 per day. But 20% off of $55/day is $44, not $48. We have a large group going, you'd think they'd offer something if we get a certain amount of people to book, like a slightly better rate. But the least they could do is get the math right since they are advertising a 20% off rate. I'm also trying to decide if i should wait it out or book now since we have almost a year.

Some ships/sailings have a price of 61.00 a day so 20% makes it around 48.00 as you are seeing. Each ship and each sailing are priced independently so you cant compare one price to another.

  8. I am have a few questions regarding the new drink package. We are sailing on 12 night Anthem if that matters.

From my understanding, if I were to purchase it online before my cruise, the gratuities are included - shows up as a service charge - Is this correct?

Is it better/cheaper to wait until we board before buying the drink package? Can anyone tell me how much it is to purchase onboard?

Can you buy a package for X amount of days and not the entire cruise?

I have read about a drink card. Can you explain what that is and the cost?

People who have been on ships since the drink package change have reported seeing it being sold for 61.00 USD / day + 18% gratuity which is quite a bit more than the discounted price on the cruise planner. 20% off would lead someone to believe 55.00 is the onboard price but ive seen multiple people say they are seeing 61/day.

  9. The secret is to find a bartender that will actually muddle the mint instead of just putting a few leaves into a shaker and shaking it with the liquor. Thats why i prefer the frozen mojitos, they extract all that mint flavor from being pulverized.

  10. With these "Wow Bands" when you order a drink do you have to take it off and hand it to the bartender? I could see some sweaty WOW bands going back and forth. I know the sea pass isn't exactly clean but i dont see it collecting as much sweat as something on someones arm that is out swimming and in the sun all day.

  11. We will be a group of 10 going on the Allure in January. A few of us purchased the drinking package. My question is can the drinking package be used in the specialty restaurants? I would think so but the answer on RCCL website makes it seem like no.

Q: In which venues will the all-inclusive beverage packages be honored?

A: The beverage packages are honored at any of our bars or lounges, Windjammer Café, Main Dining Room, and our private destinations during normal business hours. Room service and minibar are not included.

Also, we were thinking of buying a specialty dining package. Can you order the sushi at the hibachi experience and use a dining credit? I know the package can't be used for the hibachi experience and I know you can order sushi at the hibachi experience, but can you use package for the sushi?

If you buy the dining package they will give you 30 dollars to be used for sushi, ramen or anything off the izumi ala carte menu. I found their prices to be quite good in that you can get a 10 piece nigiri plate for 18.00 + ramen makes it right around 30.00 and you are nice and full. While you are there on a drink package dont miss the Lychee Martini.

  12. Am I correct in assuming that a specialty dining BOGO (except for a Diamond+ freebie) shows up on your cruise planner. We just did an 8 day Jewel cruise in September and have a 7 day on her in February and never saw a BOGO offer. Depends on ship? C&A status?

The BOGO in the cruise planner is selected ships / sailings but is only to be used on nights 1 and 2. Night 1 is typically slow for specialty dining as is night two because its the first formal night. This is their way of trying to fill those specialty dining restaurants on nights one and two. You will only be able to pick the time you want on night one, you will have to book night two after you board.

  13. Royal leaves cabins unfilled for situations such as cabin flooding, bedbugs, smoke in cabin etc. With that being said I am sure just like any hotel they would take bed bugs EXTREMELY seriously should they have brought these issues up to guest relations. They would have been in another room in no time. Something seems fishy here. Food issues, sure, that happens, it happens at the finest restaurants and its unfortunate. This just seems all too scripted.
