Coco Cay is all sand....

I agree with Bob, they are certainly on the prohibited list. On the other hand, there was a very recent thread started by someone who had inadvertently brought a knife with them and was concerned that it might be confiscated when boarding the following day. His later post noted that he had no trouble bringing it aboard in his checked bag. Several other CC members stated that they too have been able to bring small pocket knives with them, while others have said they've seen them taken away. My guess is that the responsible security team members use a bit of common sense: a small pocket knife they'll let go, but don't try to bring your 12" Bowie knife with you! Of course, there will always be those who go strictly by the rules, so there's always a risk.
Sometimes is it nice just to have a small pocket knife. We carry one all the time along with one thing not allowed on the ship. We don't take that one thing onboard.

Correct, but GS and RS are overkill

If just chasing point, GS and above would be overkill.
Even booking JS, I bet it costs more to reach PC than lower decks.

Knives are on the prohibited list.
I thought so..... so you buy it and then it is taken away..... I wonder if you bought it in a island, would they take it away and then give it back. The scanners were pretty sensitive our trip last week.....
Off topic but I also found it odd in St Thomas, there was a Kiosk, right at the gate to enter/exit the ship that was selling sweet mixed island drinks...... to only find out after walking 50' you were not allowed to bring back on the ship. Must have been 50 people trying to drink their drink before boarding.

It is just like Dress Codes, it is only a suggestion..... LOL and it is very poor manners if you don't follow you assigned boarding time....

When we disembarked Allure last Sunday, there was a table set up with confiscated items....
We had a good laugh as we saw at least half a dozen irons.... and lots of power strips and extension cords.
I want to know about pocket knives??? We saw many for sale in DI, the Swiss Army type. I asked could we take them on the ship???? They told us yes.... so are pocket knives permitted on the ships?

Yeah, this is what I'm concerned about--not finding it at all and then being out of luck. It's so much pricier do do it a la carte. We're leaning toward the drink packages, which I know we need to purchase in advance to get at a discount. Do you guys know if the soda package or the refreshment package are also more expensive onboard vs. online? We may add those for the kids, but it would be better to use onboard credit though not worth it if they jack up the price on the ship.
You want it, book it ahead of time. They do this so you can't use OBC plus it is at discounted rate. You could always use your OBC for additional tips.
If you wait, you might get some offer on board like BOGO but can't always count on it. Only have seen it for CHOPS and I have heard rarely if ever for Izumi Hibachi. On Allure last week, I didn't see either Izumi or 150 waiters out drumming up deals. Just saw Chops..... and Samba wasn't crowded at all once onboard, but didn't see any offers.

We stay in GS and often, depending on the ship, they are under either the WJ or Pool area. There is some noise early in the morning and late at night but not enough to bother us. Only heard it when awake so it wasn't enough to wake us.

I always tip $1 CASH for each drink and for special service, like remembering my name and drink, will get them a $5 CASH. I you eat outside your cabin in a Specialty Restaurant, we, the two of us, tip at least $20 CASH. If exceptional, then more.

Hello All,
We're sailing on the Allure in a couple of weeks and I'd like to add a 3-night specialty dining package, though I'd prefer to use our onboard credit and make the purchase once we board. Does anyone have experience doing this? I assumed it would be no problem but then read somewhere that the packages are not always available on the ships. Any insight would be appreciated!
I wasn't aware the 3 night or 4 and 5 night dinning packages were available once onboard. It might be, just haven't seen it.
Maybe ASK BOB can clear up.
Bob already answered this......

$103K by my calculations.
That does include 2 GS's and 1 RS
YOLO ;)
Doesn't that include a bunch of JS which are 2 pts and 3 pts for solo? I bet it is a bit more expensive to travel in Suites even with double/triple points than deck 2/3.

This seems to occur on MJ about every three months, maintenance of some sort. Often it has been with their fresh water system but it could be anything.

Off Allure last Sunday. Lots of pre-school age kids. We talked to a family is the SL and they told us it was hard to get their kids out of Adventure ....... but we did think there was a higher number of kids than we expected.

Hello. I need some quick help. I am going to St. Maarten on the Allure of the Seas next week. St. Maarten is on AST. Royal Caribbean says we dock at 8:00 that day. Is this local time or ship time which I would assume is EST. I booked a tour through Bernard's. They say I need to be at their location at 8:30. I told Bernard's we dock at 8:00 not realizing the time difference. Do I need to change the time of my tour?
Also, do I need my passport to cross the board to go to the French side?
Thanks,
Theresa
Just off same Eastern Allure 1/29. Ship never changed ship time (EST) although ports were on different time. All times listed were based on ship time.
I don't think anything is required to cross over to French side but we didn't make it. We always carry our Passports with us because if something was to happen and you missed the ship, it is much easier getting to the next port or back home with your passport.

Dresses are a lot more effort than shorts, therefore by virtue of wearing a dress a man has shown the requisite amount of effort required to be "dressed up" enough for dinner. Hows that? [emoji6]
But their legs and Adams Apple for most part, look the same as Men in Shorts. Why is ok for one and not the other??

You've sure got a bug up your butt about this lol
And nobody is willing to say why is is bad for men to wear shorts but ok for men to wear dresses. (not kilts).

This response comes up every time. There is a difference. People may come to the port earlier than their assigned time however they are not forcing their way on the ship. If they come earlier than their time and they end up waiting at the port so be it. This request really has nothing to do with proper attire for dining.
They are both suggestions or requests from Royal, no difference. Have you received an email requesting you to board by deck number?? We have received 3 now.

Only because the same people who say you must dress to a suggested will be the first to ignore a request from Royal to board by deck number.

Too bad people just can't simply follow/respect rules. Regardless of what they may let you get away with.

So, if you received an Email from Royal to board by deck number would you abide by the request?

We book our cabin, the one we want, typically a GS, and NEVER look at prices again. We book the cabin we want and move forward.

We did Allure of the Seas last week and experienced the same sales pushes everywhere. During dinner, outside the Windjammer in the Promenade and then every time we got off the ship or were on our excursion there was even more sales pushes by the locals. And then to top it all off, the last day and half seemed to be filled with tip us extra here, and give us more money for this if we provided a Wow moment. Either at the bar, by the pool, in our stateroom on the departure educational video, etc. Enough already folks.
It didn't ruin our experience but it definitely detracted from having a more relaxing vacation.

On same cruise. True, it's almost like some of the Islands in the Promenade but we just say NO THANK YOU and move on. Never heard to tip more. We had a GREAT cruise.

You don't get it. It's not about what I personally like or don't like. I don't gasp at the sight of a dude's legs or storm out of the MDR or consider my dinner "ruined" or any of the other silly straw men people throw out. I just think it's good manners to follow the requested dress code of whatever social situation I'm in, if there is one. Is that really such a crazy notion? No need to make it more complicated than that with contrived hypotheticals.
Trust me, this is not contrived hypotheticals. Next time pictures. Lol
So is ok for Men to wear dresses but not shorts.

Per the GQ pics. I don't understand wearing a jacket or long sleeve shirt with shorts. I thought it was hot, so shorts were needed? So why wear long sleeves?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Forums mobile app
You know, must be Style as both Celebrity and Allures shopping gurus wore shorts in Ports with a dress shirt and jacket. White shoes as well.
Saw similar dress while on Serenade this past November and it was really hot on some islands.

If "you" you mean "me", I'm satirical half the time. Soup nasi (I'm not allowed to type the real word here lol) reference is one of those times, and every post here, I've never had a problem with it. In fact, in one of my first posts in the thread, I provided several examples of very classy GQ shorts.
I get it but many of the people speaking out against shorts remain quiet on the subject??? Hum???

Interesting and welcomed info.
BTW, Allure only has one Scrubber installed and still in testing. Chief Engr had no dates for install of second scrubber.
