We did the same cruise in May - even stayed at the Hotel Riu.  I'm definitely following.  It brings back memories!

We also did this same cruise, same ship on May 2 or 10 days....LOVED IT...We stayed at the Riu for 1 night after the cruise....Thanks for sharing....

  2. Good morning....trying to make a decision....Spirit or Horizon....I like both itineraries......they both sail the same day....I have been on the Vista...so I am sure the Horizon will be similar.  Can anyone tell me what they liked about the Carnival Spirit....TIA

Reviews generally trend negative as the only people who will take the time to write one generally had a bad experience and want to talk about it.

FWIW I like the Sunshine. Never had anything but great food on her, including my cruise earlier this year.

Never been on Elation but I loved Ecstasy and Fantasy. I'd probably choose Elation just because that class of ship is nearly extinct and who knows how much longer the Elation and Paradise will be around. Although interestingly, Sunshine is older than both so she may not live as long as them!

I completely agree....most people only tend to write reviews if something went wrong....sad...because most of the time, the positive OUT WEIGHT the negative reviews.....

Don't forget to Google for further research on your ports being considered.

Also there is a bunch of information at the Ports Of Call Section right here on Cruise Critic.

THANK YOU ...I APPRECIATE YOUR REPLY

Yes I've been to both, nice ports, I'd go back to both. Lots to do at Amber Cove, La Romana is a little more challenging but still you have some options. In La Romana on Freedom last year we did a private beach day, we got on a boat off the pier and took a 20 minute or so boat ride to a small island off for a very serene beach day.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH

  6. I give up....tried to put vaccine download from my wallet....won't accept it....ArriveCan WILL....GO FIGURE....didn't have Verify last cruise 3 weeks ago....looks like it isn't happening again.....ugh

Not sure.  I uploaded pics of front and back of CDC card.  That was six months ago and I've never had to deal with that again.

It was updated two days to remove quarantine requirements.  Make sure you have updated the app.

WHEN MY sister went into hers this morning....there was a message that said to update and she just clicked on it.....I didn't get one....

  8. Would it not come up..."update".....maybe i should just delete both travellers and try AGAIN....for the 4th time...when i was flying out of Florida 3 weeks ago after my cruise.....it wouldn't work either....the ticket agent was kind enough to spend an hour trying to figure it out....ended up doing it on her phone and sending it to me.....I'm so tired

  9. I downloaded this app on my iPhone.  when I put in a copy of my vaccine qr etc. it doesn't show a picture of it....it just says "Vaccine uploaded with a green check mark...ok...great....next question.  Do you need to upload another proof of vaccination for this traveller...yes or no....I check no....it sends me back to the first page again....WTH.....

No, it doesn't show the image. But there should be a green check mark. It will ask if you need to enter another image. If the certificate image covers all required doses the answer is no.

Yes there is a green check mark...And when I click on "no"....it goes right back to the beginning ugh

  11. OMG...I am going to pull my hair out....please tell me if I have this correct.  We have to fill out the ArriveCAN within 72 Hours of boarding out cruise out of San Francisco ....(we stop in Victoria)....OK....when I go into my ArriveCAN....it shows myself and my brother.....I keep coming up against the question...."Do you need to upload another proof of vaccine for this traveller....".....I uploaded it and it says its there but they want to know if I need to upload another.....I click on NO....IT THEN PUTS ME BACK TO THE BEGINNING ....I am going to pull my hair out....It asks how will I be arriving.....Am I putting "Marine" ....so I won't be putting any flight info in??????

Really?  We flew home April 3rd and no one even looked at it or asked about it. Same with our September trip.

Not sure if it was because we were flying United ....my brother left a couple of days before us....flying Air Canada...did NOT HAVE IT DOWNLOADED...they asked hi to go in another line and fill out a form...go figure

Just yesterday, I saw the word ARRIVECAN. I clicked on it and now OMG, I am so confused. Have not heard of this before.

We are cruising round-trip from San Francisco with our last port stop (day before arriving back) being Victoria, Canada AND we are taking the White Pass Rail excursion in Skagway. I have seen absolutely nothing in my booking where it states we would have to do anything with ArriveCan. It’s not listed anywhere that I can find. Sooooo, until Carnival lets me know this is required, do I just not worry about it?????? I would think Carnival would have notified us somewhere within the booking process that this would be necessary. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Sure don’t want to fly in to San Francisco and attempt to board and them say “show us ArriveCan information” and we have nothing and can’t board.  Hard enough with all of the ever changing Covid rules. 🤯

I was on a caribbean out of Miami 3 weeks ago.....now....we were flying home out of Ft. Myers, Florida and they would NOT LET me board the plane without Arrivecan....all filled out on my phone...I had a glitch and for some reason, it wouldn't work on my iPhone and the ticket agents was kind enough to spend over an HOUR...FIXING it....Getter done!

Ok,  living in Toronto you understand cold and how to dress for it.  I just want you to be ready for rain and wind.  Even in SF, the city is often times socked in with marine air cloud cover during the morning hours.  Just be ready for it.

Here is a link to a great live webcam in Juneau.  You can follow the weather conditions.  Make sure you have your sound on.

Oh wow!   Thank you so much for sharing....4 am now....doesn't sound warm lol

Not sure where home is for you @susan1957, but May early can be cold here.  Also, doesn't it take 2+ days to sail from SF to Alaska?   Anytime that you will be outside it could be quite cold and windy.

As I am sure you have read, layering is necessary, and fleece is your friend.  Rain will impact you more than a dry cold day.  Make sure that you have waterproof shoes as well.  Expect the time viewing the glacier to be cold and possibly windy.  Have a hat and gloves with you.

Home is Toronto...p.s.....it was just snowing....
