  1. Just received our upgrade on Escape from inside to family balcony today.. 3 days before sailing! So don't give up hope people! FYI. We bid $100 per person ($200 total as only 1st two are charged) major savings for us over booking balcony straight

    up.

Just curious did NCL show that the family balcony was sold out prior to this week? NCL is showing on our cruise all rooms are sold out including the suite that we have bid on. Just wondering if this is something that NCL is doing to fake us out or truly sold out

  2. I got e mail never saw it on Website

It should have been on your NCL account as well. It was an email stating that you could bid. Same area where you received your e-docs notice to print. Maybe since I never received a regular email they just sent it via my NCL account.

  3. Since they took the upgrade banner off the website had anybody been successful while bidding? It seems ever since they did that these boards have been quiet regarding upgrades.

    Has anybody been successful lately?

Not only have they taken the banner off they also deleted the email itself for the upgrade bidding on my NCL account. You can still access your upbid account but you have to enter a different email address......

  4. Theory: do you think the bidding link on the NCL website has been removed because bidding is closed for new bids, and only remaining/open bids that received emails can adjust their bid? Just curious.. it's been off my NCL vacation summary as well for a couple of days and hasn't returned (I'm at 66 days, received and bid through an email at 80 days, and the "let's get you upgraded" link on MyNCL brought me to my bidding summary).

Just trying to make sense of their logic since we REALLY are hoping to win the Haven Spa Suite bid! The inventory hasn't changed since we made final payment, and the last couple of weeks the prices have gone down.

Come on NCL! We are cruising on my birthday -- this would be the best present ever! Haha

When are you sailing and what ship?

  5. Another poster suggested this and it works for me (although I have my original email offer)...

In your browser start typing upgrade.plusegrade and see if the link comes up on the pull down menu and click on that.

Let us know if it works for you :)

It did pull up once I started typing, it only showed the one that I bid on and not the other two (had a total of 3 to pick). But where is this saved, not on my NCL logon page

  6. Did it not come through your personal email address too? I had the banner when I logged in, that is gone, but the email is still active.

No I never received the upbid offer through my personal email, it only came through the NCL website. I know it's strange, my wife received the offer through her personal email and she forwarded the offer to me thinking that I hadn't received. I think I'll try to find her email and see if I can get into the link and see what happens.

  7. Well I figured this bid war would drive the prices of suites way up.

Everyone that thought this is correct.

If you final cost of your cruise is not at least between $5000 to $6000 during peak season you will not get your bid. Friends on my ship that were in that $ amount won there suite

All the lower bids lost. so everyone that keep saying I have my fingers crossed and there cruise cost under the 5k to 6k with the bid included will be out of luck.

NCL made sure of this when they started displaying it is time to upgrade on everyone's home page when they logged into the site.

now the folks that did not have a clue before are all informed.

That is the whole purpose of the "bidding" war. People aren't doing the math before they put in their bid and grossly overbidding especially since the only perks you get are the ones you currently have!! NCL is still playing games on available rooms/suites showing on their website that they are sold out but really not. On our trip NCL has pulled the week of 21-28th of May off with the impression they are completely booked but yet the week of 17-24 May, same ship different embarking ports they show available rooms. They even have pulled the upbid email that was sent which had my upbid amount with no explanation, figure that one out:mad:

  8. Hi. I am going on the Pearl on April 3rd. There are most categories of cabins still available. I have an oceanview room but would LOVE a balcony. How do you go about bidding? Do you get a email? If so, does anyone know how to get on the email list? Thanks! Really appreciate your help.

It's my understanding that the only ships that have the bidding program are: Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Epic, Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Getaway and Pride of America. However NCL has an upsell department for their other ships. You will have to call and speak to someone in that department. Good Luck

  9. Just noticed on NCL website that this week isn't showing anymore for selection. Since we are on for this week it appears that they want you to believe it's "Sold Out" however they are still taking "up bids" for cabins and suites. If this cruise was truly booked you would have thought that NCL would have pulled the bid process to make it truly clear that it was 100% booked... and the mystery goes on:eek:

  10. We also bought the luggage tag inserts from Amazon, they work great. We put them on before we left our hotel room headed for the cruise terminal.

That is what we are going to do Thanks everyone for all of your comments! Good Sailing:D

  11. Ditto. We have the cheap clear luggage tag holders that can be reused and since I didn't want to buy more for "extras," just print, wrap in clear packing tape and zip tie to bag handle when we get there. The nice thing about the clear reusable ones is you can put just your contact info in there when flying and then swap it out with the cruise tag when you get to your hotel or port. And yes, you could let the porters do this and I don't think there would be any difference. Just something about being "done with it all" and fun in preparation that we print our own.

Can't wait either. Just a few weeks. Have printed out plane, hotel and car service confirms; e-docs, amenities and reservations invoices; travel insurance details; and copies of passports, birth certificates, CCs and other relevant back up info. Now I'm just kind of pacing around the house!

Sounds like you have everything together!

  12. We just received our e-docs today and of course you have to print your luggage tags. Obviously the tags will be your standard "paper" material and I'm wondering how will the tags stay on during your flight and handling at the port prior to them hopefully getting to your room? What has people done to assure they don't get ripped off the suitcases??

    Thanks

  13. NCL is playing some sort of game with the rooms on the up bid process. I have been monitoring everyday the available rooms for the Haven on our upcoming cruise and the figure would vary almost everyday, some less, some more. Now NCL states the Haven suites (all) have been sold out! If that was "truly" the case then everyone who has bid on the Haven should have received notices that their bid wasn't accepted or state that all the suites have been taken. I guess at some point NCL has to make a decision to either gamble and try to get "full" price or accept the up bids , the question is how long before the ship sail is that decision made? I can't believe they truly wait until the last week before the ship sails to make that decision. Moving people around on the upbid process I would think for paperwork needing to be done would take some time to process. You aren't just moving one family you are also moving another family "up the chain" to the vacated room, You might have a chain that could involved 3 to 4 moves, now multiply that times the truly empty rooms not sold but available for the up bid. I believe the real reason that NCL has put the "sold out" sign out is that they don't want to let everyone know how many rooms are available because that could effect a person from bidding higher if they knew there was plenty of rooms available versus not knowing. Just my .02 cents, your comments?

  14. So out of curiosity, has anybody received an accepted upsell offer more than 3 days before sailing? I'm waiting on pins and needles to see if our upsell is accepted for our May 21st sailing, lol.

We are also leaving on the 21 of May sailing and have put in a upbid on the Haven. Trying to move up from a mini suite to the Haven, but not overbidding because there isn't anything wrong with what we have. What are you trying to move up to?
