It was a footnote in the Chronicle, and it was only 10% for food and alcohol. I was informed a couple of days ago that it wouldn’t apply once we got into International waters, however we now have Portuguese VAT of 23%, including alcohol and 13% for La Dame and Kaiseki for the entire voyage. More EU gouging.

We are on the Oct. 30th TA....the second night we are in La Dame...if we have to pay a vat...that will not happen!

This is our first cruise since 2020 when Covid hit.  Prior to that we had always received cruise documents and luggage tags.  Our cruise is in 20 days and we have received neither.  Should I be worried?

We are on the same cruise, and we received ours today...Oct. 14

Did not like the Tiki.  Seems like my taste in food and wine seems to offend the die-hards.  Others think they know food and wine better and perhaps they do, but they do not know my tastes.  I live near a per-eminent wine region, am a gourmet cook and have dined in some of the best restaurants on the planet so I also know a thing or two and along with my own personal taste feel very qualified to comment on the food and wine on SS.

    After the first drink, I have never found a wine I didn't like....I am glad I don't have a palate!👍😎

  4. From Silversea Passengers

"Well… I really don’t know where to start with this post… other than to say that I’m glad there isn’t a ship called the silver positivity as that one would have long since sailed. The poor collection of covid positive souls who eventually were allowed to disembark today, finally made it to our chosen hotel .. during a short bus breakdown…to what only can be called a complete and utter shambles of a hotel, we are all currently still waiting to be allocated a room, many of us have not eaten since early morning and the small water dispenser dried up some time hence. Some 35 guests and 25 crew members are currently languishing in an out side foyer, it feels like we have all but been abandoned by Silversea, all phone lines end up in voice mail and we can’t reach anyone to help us Barbara Muckermann … some elderly and infirm people here need some urgent help. Thank you for your attention."

somebody else..."Nowhere to stay, no food or drink since 7:30am. We just want silversea to sort this fiasco out and give us what they promised. A hotel, flights home when we test negative. Not sitting outside a hotel with no available rooms and no idea what will happen next. Please silversea I can't carry on like this."

someone else..." I respectfully disagree. You CAN blame someone...not for Covid but SS has specifically outlined how they planned to handle this exact situation and it did not include dumping passengers and crew onto the patio of a hotel with no food or water! I am really shocked that the company does not have anyone on site."

hopefully Silversea will take good care of you guys. They are still my favorite cruise line.

they are no where to be seen even when I called the Miami office I was told as I was booked through the U.K. office I had to call them !

The first responce said, they finally got a room an hour ago!

  5. The CDC has gone to level 4.....Do not cruise!

The COVID-19 Travel Health Notice level has been updated from Level 3 to Level 4, the highest level. This reflects increases in cases onboard cruise ships since identification of the Omicron variant.

Key Information for Cruise Ship Travelers

    • Avoid cruise travel, regardless of vaccination status.
    • Even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants.
    • The virus that causes COVID-19 spreads easily between people in close quarters on board ships, and the chance of getting COVID-19 on cruise ships is very high, even if you are fully vaccinated and have received a COVID-19 vaccine booster dose.
    • Outbreaks of COVID-19 have been reported on cruise ships.
    • If you travel on a cruise ship, make sure you are fully vaccinated before travel and get a COVID-19 vaccine booster dose if you are eligible.
  6. sail1658...

Just so you know, we have four other couples sailing with us. I sent an email with all your videos of the Spirit to them. They were a hit! One couple will be in the Grand Suite, and wished they could of seen a video of it....said they made wonderful night of viewing your videos!

  7. Sail 1658 Thankyou for your video. I see you were in room 620. We will be on the Spirit in January, and our friends will be in 620. I have forwarded the youtube link to them. I am sure they will enjoy seeing their room.

  8. We have four other couples on this cruise with us...one has a large suite, and we are planning a party. I hope to have a slide show playing in the background of pictures of everyone over the years.

The last three cruises we have taken have been on Oceania, and they serve you at the buffet....I much prefer that in my old age!😎

I now see the Dawn is leaving on the third also....are you going all the way around?

  9. Around the middle of April I made my first post on the Silversea board. All I did was ask a couple of questions....Can you serve yourself, or does the crew serve you at the Buffet, and do the suite TV's have a USB port....The post is gone...I hope I didn't say anything that got the post removed! We are now on the Jan. 3 cruise out of FLL, on the Spirit...our first cruise on Silversea. Cruised on Oceania, Seabourn and Regent Seven Seas a number of times...I would like to know what happened to my post...Help!
