  1. Where in this thread are ecigs even mentioned?

The op is a non smoker and asking about smoke on the ship not about trying to quit smoking

No one here is discussing trying to quit smoking but rather trying to avoid the smoke given off by smokers

Btw ecigs are not allowed on balconies it in cabins.

I guess you don't understand the question being posed in this thread

I understood the initial question, however the discussion veered towards peoples attitudes towards smoking on ship - to which I am chiming in.

I understand not everyone smokes, that's their choice and the majority of the ships are smoke free.

But if you're expecting a totally smoke free environment stay at home.

  2. Just use an Ecig and then no-one can complain about you smoking.

Even then there'll always be that one person who has to complain about it, even if you're in the smoking area and obeying all of the rules.

Sadly there are people who will specifically go out of their way just to have a moan because they don't smoke, or don't like it or whatever - get over yourself!

  3. Ever wonder why that is?

Ok so an 18 year old is not responsible enough to drink...that tells me 18 yo take chances and statistically do stupid things I guess

So of course 18 yo will volunteer to serve in greater numbers than say a 25 yo

So of course 18 yo will vote for the party that makes it sound like everything will be given to them if elected.

    That's the point

As far as the Ncl casino is concerned...well it doesn't take a genius to figure out an 18 yo will take more chances with money than a mortgage paying 35yo family man

Works for us here in Europe.

If you let your kids drink from 15 - 16 in a responsible setting (e.g. a beer round the dinner table with family) then when they get to 18 - 21 it isn't such a big deal.

But when you don't let kids drink until they're 21, of course they go mad when they're finally free to hit the bars.

  4. Tried Escargot a few years back. Not for me. Staying in the Haven on Escape next week and hoping to try Fois Grois for the first time. Other than that I'm typically a meat and potatoes kind of guy.

I'll have to give this a try whilst I'm around France, I've heard mixed review so ultimately its down to the taste test!

You do know that Foie Gras is liver? I actually love liver but I know many people do not. Despite my love of liver the Foie Gras was very greasy when I tried the filet with Foie Gras in the Haven. But I loved the liver pate which is made with the same type of goose liver on the appetizer section.

I'm not a huge fan of liver, I find it to be quite dry with an odd texture. Liver pate on the other hand is lovely on toast or in a sandwich!

  6. This no longer works in the same way (at least for US passengers). You must pay the DSC. They will give you a form you can submit for a refund after the cruise. Sometime later you will receive the refund from NCL. The time between submitting the form and getting the refunds has ranged from a few weeks to a few months.

Ah I see, might be slightly different for you folks across the pond (UK passenger here).

Seems a tad underhand, but I'm not that familiar with what US law does/doesn't allow - it wouldn't be over here!
