  1. Some people don't drink a lot, so 2-3 drinks at the Elite Happy Hour are sufficient, and they don't need the drink package.

If you are in a Suite and can utilize Michael's, some people don't want to have to run there every time they want a drink. It's a hike from the Sunset Bar on the S-Class just to get a free drink in Michael's.

Yep, exactly why we like a package as well, was just curious if I had missed something somewhere. Not that we are huge drinkers and during the day stick with soft drinks anyhow.

  2. Done it several ways, but for us the best option and if you want to add to your experience, the last couple of times we have flown the day before and stayed in Civitavecchia the night before.

We use the Hotel Bogo del Mare, they do an all inclusive package circa £260 for room, dinner and private pickup from airport, transfer to ship and private pick up from terminal to Rome airport on disembarkation day. Not 5* but totally Italian, superb food and run by a lovely guy called Allasandra.

Will be repeating the experience at the end of this month.

  3. That's EXACTLY what we've always done with multiple cruuse lines. In 20+ cruises, This is the FIRST time we've received a notice like this (which I admit I found mildly irritating.) I suspect its something to do with the terminal at Dublin.

We've had the unfortunate experience of being stuck in a terminal for HOURS before being allowed to board. Not something I want to repeat.

Can understand your irritation, would feel the same. Unfortunately and one reason (among many) that we no longer cruise with P&O, 3.30 boarding across the board is no fun.

  4. So, we had our first cruise on Reflection in a C3 cabin in Feb 2017. We had it booked for months beforehand. When there came a promo for 50% off the second passenger I was able to rebook and get about 1000 dollars off because there were still C3’s available.

Ever since that first cruise, I have watched Celebrity site regularly, and never see that promo anymore. All I see is 50% off 3rd and 4th guests.

I guess we can speculate they did away with it, or want to appear more of a luxury brand.

But, do any of you know any more about this, or why? Royal is having that promo right now, why not Celebrity?

Not sure where you are located and it always seems to me reading these thread there are different promotions either side of the 'pond' but in the UK 50% off for the second passenger was available just a few days ago as made a reservation for October.

  5. Hi

    Ok so I have upgraded to Sky Suite and cannot wait. I got my online login details through and have a question or 2 please;

If I order a 3 night speciality package now, and afterwards make 3 online reservations for speciality dining will the discount be applied or using this package do I have to book the restaurants another way?

What are the internet speeds like? With P and O they are poor while for Royal C they are good. I won't personally use the internet much, but my wife and 2 children always do, so I usually go for 2 packages.

For dining in the Luminae. I am on a wait list for anytime dining ( i prefer this ) and have been put on 1st sitting for now. If I go and ask the Maitre D' to change to anytime, what are the chances of him changing me over?

Thank you for any help here

edit and what are the must do speciality restaurants pls? we are big meat eaters or lobster

Unlike MDR Luminae doesn't have different sittings, in our experience most people seem to arrange a dining time preference on day one (as we always do) or alternately ring ahead of time to ensure your table and time. Have never sen anyone waiting for a table, but there again we eat early so may be different later.

If you have Luminae why would you want other dining venues (imo), it's one of the biggest draws for us to a suite, coupled with Michaels ?

Internet speed seemed fine to me and granddaughter would soon have mentioned if it was slow.

Should add that your confirmation of booking will not show Luminae, so that's why you will see a dining time as that relates to MDR prference.

  6. As I recall I've only had one with both of our names since at least February 2016 as long as we have just one credit card for both of us and one account. Unless you don't fit that, or if you are for some reason arriving at the pier separately one is sufficient.

We were on Reflection October 2017 and defo had two, hubby and wife arriving and travelling together and using the same on board account and payment method. That was a European sailing so maybe it's different depending on location.

  7. On her in October as was not that impressed and most shows very samey, but I do think what they offer in Europe may well be different to other parts of the world. On her in three weeks again and may well not bother with the shows, we go more for sunshine, a chill out and relaxing in Michael's etc.

  8. is anyone having problems printing their express pass? Every time I try, it prints a small amount on the background information. Thanks.

I printed mine of last evening direct from the web site and it was fine.

One change I did notice since October cruise, just the one boarding pass with both our names on it, previously there was one for each, good idea actually as one less thing to lose.

  9. ok, thanks for the replies. I am a big eater. Love my food. Love trying new and good restaurants. Is the suite restaurant worth it?

edit so can Sky Suite customers have access to luminae and michaels restaurants ? is there even a michaels on silhouette?

A suite is definitely worth it and as others have said Luminae is excellent both in terms of the food and service. We wouldn't even consider downgrading for that very reason and keeps us hooked on X. Three weeks to go and counting!

  10. Hi, was wondering if anyone out there has been on Reflection in the ladt last few weeks and knows if Dominik (odd but correct spelling) has returned to the ship ?

He left for leave when our last cruise ended last Autumn and he was hoping his new contract in February would take him back there. We are due on her again next month so keen to know if he did indeed get back onto Reflection.

  11. As an earlier posted said, you will get conflicting opinions.

I base my comment on having used Luminae on several different ships and will be doing so again on Reflection the end of May. It has never disappointed with regard to food and quality (and I am a serious foodie working in the industry) both in the evening, breakfast and lunch on sea days. But even putting that aside, the calmer more intimate atmosphere coupled with first class staff at every level it has to be worth it in my view.

  12. When you've made final payment and if you are in time with Celebrity, having done the booking via a travel agent, it might be worth cancelling the old booking, losing your deposit and do a new one under the new price. If you ask Celebrity to work out how much it is just to upgrade they give you a silly price. Even rebooking always seems to cost a lot more than the website infers.

    Phil

Did that once and worked fine, choice of cabins is not good now though and we are a tad fussy about our 'spot' on the ship.

  13. Not sure if this helps but will pass on my experience earlier this year. Already had a booking made direct with X in the UK, asked to upgrade and they said yes I could but the prices would be based on those at the time I made the initial booking despite the fact they were actually selling for less when I asked about it.

  14. Reading with interest and guess many of you are from the States.

We are in the UK and have traveled X many times in the past 20 years, the last 7/8 years is suites and yes you get Luninae and the quality of food is good, but on some nights we have ordered from the MDR and quite honestly have difficulty identifying with the "inedible" comments.

When the grandchildren were younger we went RCI on ten or so occasions, the last being 2015 and I would agree that their service and food quality has declined. But afraid I am unable to correlate with some of the criticism of X in this thread.

It is accepted that all cruise lines are tightening their belts and staff are thinner on the ground, cabin staff are one very good example. But if one reflects on the increases in price against the cost of living I do not personally believe prices have hoisted that much.

There is reference to high prices paid by suite guests, we are travelling on Reflection next month and the cost of our suite is only £1,000 higher than our daughter is paying for a Concierge cabin a few weeks later.

We have also traveled HM a few times, excellent service but much higher costs. Now if you were to try the major UK operator P&O you really would see declining standards, not to mention cabins the size of a shoe box.
