Our daughter studies in Santiago and has told us things are improving. There is smoke and haze from the fires but no danger to the major cities.

For your general knowledge. I used to work for a mortuary shipping company. If a loved one dies onboard a cruise ship do everything in your power to keep the remains onboard the ship until you reach a US port. There are large extra costs and delays in returning remains from other countries and islands where there may be only one funeral home. A few years ago arrangements to transport a body from Florida to a northern city would be under $1000 but Caribbean islands could cost $5-10,000 and take over a week to arrange. Cruise ships do have the capability to keep bodies on board in a safe manner.

I hope you enjoy your cruise! We will be on the Infinity for the first time in March and I am interested to see the daily news sheets from the ship. Trying to get a feel for the activities and entertainment we may have. If you could post some photos at some point it would be appreciated.

I have begun looking at these for our trip and cannot find any that do not include surge protection. Can anyone recommend one that is not surge protected to keep things safe?

I can tell you that the Deck 6 forward Oceanview cabins are beautiful(sailed in 6001 a couple years back for a transition cruise from San Juan back to Bayonne), very large windows(you get the same view the captain does) and it feels a bit more spacious than the traditional Oceanview cabin. Even though it's directly above the theater, I had no problems hearing any noise bleeding through the floor, from either performances or any rehearsals. The only drawback for us(I often travel with my DM, who had the beginnings of her mobility issues before that cruise and was starting to use a cane regularly)was that it was quite a hike to the MDR and buffet, but very easy access to the pools and gym(which pleased her a lot as the T Pool is her favorite spot). I hope this helps you as well.
Thanks for your review of cabin 6001. We will have that cabin for a cruise on Infinity in March. I wonder if you could comment about the ship motion being so far forward. My wife may have some issues but we are going through the Panama Canal and thought the forward view and larger size room would be worth it.

The 1pm arrival time in GMT so it was actually their planned 8am arrival. There is a webcam which shows the port area and there does not appear to be high winds.

Would these be the same or similar menus to what will be on the Infinity?

Thanks for this excellent review. We are on Infinity next month and this really gave us a taste of things to come. The dailies and menus were great to read.
