  1. We are on a 14 day cruise on the Crown in July this year, I like wine and on holiday I would estimate that I would drink around a bottle of wine on a sea day but perhaps only a couple of glasses on a port day so perhaps a wine package would be prefarable to the all inclusive package as its almost double!

  2. We are due to cruise on the Crown in July. Originally we were going to turn off the auto gratuities and tip when we had good service but after discussing it with my in-laws to be (they have cruised before) we decided to leave that on.....it's more than covered for on our obc but this tipping thing is alien to me as a Brit. In the UK tips are not expected and only given when it is earned. I am sure that when we get on board and we will be blown away by the service etc. However I really feel this is going to be an expensive trip if we are paying auto gratuities and tipping on top of this? Don't get me wrong I work for living so I know that good service should be rewarded but once! Does that sound cheap?

  3. Wow so much great advice and all of it really useful!

My fiance and I are so excited to be going on this cruise......probably more than the actual wedding 😄 (I'm afraid I'm turning into a bridezilla!!!)

We have decided that we will book the princess tours for Rome and Florence but make our own way for the other ports. My fiance as a really big fan of the movie Gladiator really wants to stand in the colleseum, I want to see the Sistine chapel and throw a coin in the trevi fountain. I am really looking forward to Florence as I love renaissance art, plus the Ponte Vecchio is such a romantic bridge. Other than that we have decided that we will take it easy at the other ports.

We have taken the advice and have already booked the balcony dinner, we have booked it for the fourth day of the cruise so we will be well past the Bay of Biscay and high winds.

Luckily we are both good sailors but will be packing some medication just in case......apparently green apples are a good treatment!

Thank you all for taking the time to give all the excellent advice and tips.

    Xxx

  4. Thank you all for taking the time to reply to my "wobble", I have never cruised before and apart from buying a car this is the biggest expenditure I have ever paid in one go (it felt like giving birth!) so when I then read some of the reviews I panicked!

I dont normally take much notice of bad reviews unless the same issues keep coming up but I think in my head my honeymoon is so long awaited and so looked forward to and the most expensive thing we have purchased I guess my expectations were rocked by the bad reviews and I started to take them seriously. I can honestly say you have all reassured me and I cant thank you enough. I am so happy again and have started looking at my countdown clock again!.......as for the cruise next year, I am very lucky that the parents in law to be have already booked us on the Britannia next July! :) :) :)

  5. We are sailing in July on the Crown Princess and I have been reading the reviews and have to say that it has really shaken me. We are going to be on our honeymoon and this is our first cruise so really don't know what to expect but it is starting to look like a very expensive trip with rude staff and shabby rooms and being harassed by hard sell from everyone.......please tell me its not true?

  6. Hi everyone

We have been reading a lot of the advice in the newbie section a lot of which we have written down in order to create our own packing lists......this is very useful.

I think I am being really dim but I am trying to create a countdown thingy but I can't find the link can someone point me in the right direction? What is the link called?

    Many thanks x

  7. Just to clarify we booked our cruise through a UK travel agent and we booked a room with a balcony on the Caribe deck near the front (what I call the pointy end) 😁

We have looked on the website but there still some questions

1 the all inclusive drinks packages are very expensive, can you carry wine onto the boat to drink in the room?

2 how many formal nights do have to do?

3 what is the dress code for the formal nights for both men and women.

These are just few questions ...... so far lol

  8. Hi all

My fiancee and I are getting married in July next year and are setting off for our honeymoon on the crown princess for the Mediterranean cruise from Southampton.

Neither of us has cruised before and are a little nervous about quite a few aspects of the cruise and would welcome any advise.
