  1. We booked this excursion through the ship and did it this past January. Time from dock to helicopter was about an hour, that included walking to a van, which was a little bit of a hike, van transportation to helicopter and the training. Beware they do pull out a scale and weigh you. The actual helicopter portion over Montserrat was about 45 minutes. Helicopter seats 4 passengers and the pilot. Pilot and one up front, three in back. I was up front with the pilot and it was amazing. Not sure the middle seat in back would have been as great. While the volcano is considered active, we didn't see hot lava, mainly just steam and flew over the lava flow and destruction of the island. It was very moving. If you have any specific questions let me know and I'll try to answer.

  2. I agree with you about the OP referring to her son as #the boy in a loving way and this review is very interesting and entertaining. However, I’m one of those wives who would feel disrespected and hurt if my wonderful, loving DH of more than 40 years ever called me “the wife.” and I would never call him or refer to him as “the husband.” Nails on a chalkboard: yes, demeaning? YES!

    Happy cruising everyone!!

I used to refer to my now ex as my first ex-husband, probably a bad omen.

  3. I know the "sales" are just a marketing ploy and the short of it is, if you find an itinerary you like, on a ship you like for a price you are willing to pay, just book it. I've embraced that. My question is, during whatever "sale" is on, do the prices change anyway? Do I really need to check every day for fluctuations or do they only change when the sales change? (I think I know the answer, it seems they do change every day, but I don't track closely enough to be certain and I think I'm seeing a difference of two or three hundred dollars).

  4. JS be perfect, tons of storage, walk in closet is huge, many extra drawers, tub/shower may be idea for young kids too! Huge balcony, 2 lounge chairs, 2 regular chairs and table.

Junior suite on Anthem does not have a walk in closet. At least the spa junior suite didn't.

  5. Just returned from the Anthem in cabin 6242 Spa Junior Suite. After reading posts before sailing, I tried to switch cabins but none were available. Noise from flushing was day & night. After shows horrible, one flush after another. Sent us some earplugs. Midway through cruise offered to downgrade us to a balcony with a lifeboat in front. DH didn’t want to move. Ended up from not sleeping with a cold & bags under eyes. Last two days stayed in bed & listened to the flushing, one after the other. We were given a FCC of 20% of base price of cruise, which they will mail us, not worth it, stay away from this cabin.

It's amazing that they can't resolve this. There has to be a way to insulate the cabin from that noise. Glad you got the 20% though. We were given 15%.

  6. I've only done a junior suite once, so only had access to CK for dinner that one cruise. With the caveat that I've had stomach surgery and therefore don't eat much, the quality of food and service has far exceeded any other option I've experienced. (Thanks to Reuben, Kevin and K(ashmir) on Anthem. I would book a suite again in a heartbeat just for them. The ambiance, service and food can't be beat. IMHO

  7. Has anyone had the surgery done by an orthopedic surgeon? I've met with two at major NYC hospitals and both have extensive experience with this. However, some people have said I should use a neurosurgeon, not an orthopedic surgeon no matter how experience they are. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Neurosurgeon, although my surgery was "emergency" and I didn't have time to research any options. Reading after the fact though, I still would have used a very experienced Neurosurgeon.
