  1. No stress free way to get off. We used elevators for embarkation but upon our return we were told that the elevators were unavailable. We were yelled at to stay left in single file and then suddenly we round the wall and were told to get on--- and my friend and I (both seniors and one age 82) stood our ground and refused to take the escalator with a large suitcase and large totes as well. They finally allowed us to use the elevators. It was a horrible situation. I need to write a letter to the port authority. This may not have any bearing on your situation but it does give you an indication of how helpful they will be.
  2. Some may have been discontinued on some lines and not others. Some of these things I don't miss at all. Also I am very pleased that mini-refrigerators are becoming common. If you know of others please post. But these are the things that I think were discontinued: After cruising on Princess and Royal Carribean, I have just returned from a cruise on the Carnival Victory. I am now wondering where I got the list of discontinued features. Since our recent cruise featured just about all of the items that I mentioned as discontinued. On this recent cruise we made good use of the soft serve ice cream on board. There was no mini-fridge that would have helped with my mother's insulin storage. There seems to be something less in cruising as compared to the 90's but it is very intangible--nothing that you can itemize.
  3. I'm not trying to be negative here because crusie lines have added services and attractions over the years that may make up for these losses. Also I have only been on 8 cruises on various lines. Some may have been discontinued on some lines and not others. Some of these things I don't miss at all. Also I am very pleased that mini-refrigerators are becoming common. If you know of others please post. But these are the things that I think were discontinued: anytime lemonade gifts like fanny packs and win a cruise contests for repeat cruisers fruit basket in the rooms water color prints (suitable for framing) of your ship soft serve ice cream 24 hour pizza station some midnight buffets
