There are currently 3 levels of service available. Travel 46 business days or more, travel 3-45 business days before, and travel 2 business days before. You should have enough time for the 3-45 day service, which takes up to 2 weeks plus mailing time.

That 3-45 day service now takes 9 weeks + mail time.

  2. Yes I know I should have looked at expiration dates before booking.

My son just turned 18. His passport expires at the end of September. Haven’t travelled in 3 years, his father renewed his passport the last time so I lost track. Shared custody situation. Anyhow I booked a cruise to celebrate his 18th birthday on August 6 2022 for us and extended family. Realized today he needs a new passport for this cruise😩. So today went to Service Canada to bring all the necessary documents. The lady took his application and documents but told him he would not get it before the cruise, that he had to go to the passport office on July 28 for an emergency passport. Problem is on the 28th it’s his grandfather funeral 900 km away (and 700km away from any passport office). Any suggestion would be appreciated! You can also scream at me for my bad planning.

Considering that the airport suggests a : hour arrival time for international flights in the best of circumstances and the port is a little over an hour away, the math doesn’t work well.

Yep. I gave them the math. To no avail so far.

  4. I’m trying to convince my extended family that booking a flight to Canada out of MCO at 11:30 on the morning our ship gets back to Port Canaveral is not a good idea. Already told them I’m not doing it but they think it’s doable. 2 moms with 6 kids between 7 and 14. What do you all think? Too much stress for me😂

  5. Sounds like I could wait until we get on board and ask about birthday cakes at that time.

It never even cross my mind to expect the kids club personel to put on a party for the kids. I just wondered if they aknowledge the kids birthday in any way (a simple happy birthday? A card? Nothing at all? Just asking, not expecting). With 7 kids between my sister's family, her friend's family and my family we already have a few surprises and gifts in the works. My question was to enquire about possibilities I might have overlooked.

Thanks for sharing experiences amd suggestions.

  6. We will be on Seaside with extended family next March. 2 of the pre schoolers and one adult will be celebrating birthdays. I remember being able to order a birthday cake in advance on the website a few years ago but the option is not there anymore (even after scrolling down and loading more and searching the website). Does anyone know how to order one? Trying to avoid calling or waiting to be on board as one birthday is on boarding day.

Also is there any type of birthday celebration at the kids club?

Will appreciate all suggestions to make this triple birthday cruise extra special!

  7. Hello to everyone reading this.

We are in the process of getting ready for ou Mother/Son cruise in November on Allure of the Seas. My sister told me her son is dead set on wearing a tux for the formal nights. His mom (my sister) is an amazing mother to 4 kids under the age of 9, she is a gifted surgeon, she is involved in her community (she organized a summer camp for the kids in her community last summer). Her older son (9) is my godson and I really want to make the tux happen for him. He was born with part of a foot missing, wears a prosthetic foot and is very, very brave. I am very prood of him and my sister. Nobody would know he had any health issue looking at him as he is involved in sports, school, teaching other kids amputees how to deal with their differences. We can't rent a tux from RCCL as he is not yet big enough to fit in a man's tux. They live in a small town in Canada away from big box chains who might be able to sell and tailor a tux for him. If anyone has any suggestion to make this dream happen for him, I would be a very grateful auntie. I would attempt sewing one but he lives 500 miles away. Thanks.

  8. I have been reading this thread for the last few months trying to figure out the best plan for our upcoming cruise on the Breakaway.

The plan for us in to drive down from Montreal on the Saturday, stay in hotel in NJ with parking one night pre cruise and leave the car there for 10 days. Car service to ship. After the cruise stay 2 nights in Manhattan then car service to car at hotel in NJ.

Country Inn in Elizabeth offers park and cruise for 10 days for less than parking at the pier.

I want to avoid driving in the city. My husband wants to do it but the co-pilot-human-GPS assisting the GPS (me) does not want to deal with being responsible for the stress of the whole thing. Could have always let him drive, not comment, not try to help but can't help myself. I would have to be drunk to master this.

I'm the planner. He usually just wings it.

So does my plan make any sense? Car service suggestion bookable in advance if possible?

The idea being to avoid stress, not to save on every step.

I prefer spending a bit more to avoid the hassle and stress.

  9. My sister and I are planning on taking our 2 preteen boys on the Divina in November. Only looking at the Yacht Club cause I have been spoiled before and want to be again. We do not want 4 people in one YC1 so it should be 2. Do they have any connected YC1? Or can the balcony partition be opened? We would have booked a YC3 but they are all gone. There are 2 YC2 but I'm worried about the lack of a balcony.

If that plan doesn't work we might consider NCL Haven but would much prefer MSC. Alas no flexibility on dates (school). And don't worry, we are bringing two preteen gentlemen.

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

  10. This might just drive me nuts before even getting to the cruise. Sailing on the BA in July. Booked a nice aft balcony under the canadian at par promo. Got the email to bid on higher categories. Those lower bids are very high for that cruise compared to what I have read on here. Only bid on Haven aft penthouse because we want to keep the aft. I have over analyzed this whole process trying to figure out if I have to increase my bid. There are still 9 aft suites left (and numerous other cabins in other Haven categories on that sailing). To upgrade to full price would mean doubling what I already paid for the cruise. Not an option for this year. I know there are no formulas and I will be happy with my aft balcony but I still want to try. Does half of what it would cost to upgrade to full price sound fair? Too high?? Doesn't even move the meter to good!

I will keep watching prices and availability plus emails, credit card and myNCL. Must also find time to work to pay for the trip!

A birthday trip in the Haven would be fun. Will keep my fingers crossed.

  11. Looks like it will be scooters again this year for us. Was kind of hoping to have the opportunity to try those minicars for our trip in July. Limited availability+ high season= scooter again.

We have driven on different continents with different types of vehicles and in all possible driving conditions. Don't want to start a debate because I know from reading numerous comments on cc and Bermuda newspapers that allowing tourists to drive is a hot button subject.

And we let anyone drive here up north in winter when some tourists have never seen snow. No car crash epidemics reported. Or maybe not enough tourists?

It's late, I'm being sarcastic. Just would enjoy visiting Bermuda driving around with my husband instead of behind him on a different scooter (we've also done same scooter). Will not do taxis again (last time taxi rate for a short ride was more than the scooter rental for 3 days and the loud gospel music+ singing gave my husband hives for the rest of the day). Buses: not enough flexibility.

Please no flaming about safety. DH has extensive motorcycle experience (driving, fixing, rebuilding). I know we don't control other drivers.

Maybe I will get to try that cute pink car in 2018. Now how to get my DH to sit in a pink car....

    But I digress.

If anyone knows if we can rent a minicar this year, let me know. Preferably not pink. Just in case.

No matter what we will be in Bermuda in July on the Breakaway.

  12. Not very important to the question but I did identify myself as his mom in the first post and about two phrases down I wrote about getting him food and being with him that my bed can wait until he's fed. In the second post I also referred to my son.

    As I said, doesn't matter.

For anyone else needing info the shuttle runs until 10pm. Have to call them from the airport, hotel has menus on hand from restaurants that will deliver late.

And if this DM47 can somehow have new batteries installed in herself (my attempt at a joke; sorry long day at work) before the trip she might take her DS12 to Duffy's. He might enjoy it. They are open until midnight.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions. I'm sure we will have a wonderful trip.
