Each cruise we pack lighter than the previous. My husband hates ties so, no ties. He takes khakis in a couple of colors and a few collared shirts, knit and cotton. The best investment for cruising was a neutral linen sport jacket. Dresses up any outfit. I wear sundresses of various styles and lengths. Everything is comfortable. We each walk on with one suitcase. We do not, however, wear shorts or jeans in the MDR although many do.

Thank you all! We wound up booking on the Avalon Panorama, Prague to Budapest with two extra days in Budapest. Having fun now researching and reading about various tours, etc.

RCCL has had lobster in the main dining room on each of our cruises but frankly we don't order it. Hard to make lobster in such large quantities and not winding up with it being pretty dried out.

Check out the day passes at Mr. Sancho's in Cozumel. Short ride by taxi from ship. Great facilities, food, beverages, amenities. We had a great day there.

This is all just wonderful information. We are so looking forward to the food! My family is from Hungary and I cook many Hungarian dishes but having them in Hungary is going to be something I've dreamed of for many years. (I'm looking forward to all of the food everywhere!)
Thanks for the tips too about the tours. We do plan on spending an extra day or two in Budapest at the end of the trip but so many of the tours along the way look wonderful. I'm going to have to pace myself. If there are any especially that you know of that you can recommend in Prague or Vienna, as well as Budapest, please let me know. Again, thank you for your insight.

Thank you so much for your reply! I appreciate your sharing your experiences. My husband and I have cruised the Caribbean several times but this will be a first time river cruise for only my daughter and myself. One of the things that attracted me to Avalon was the opportunity to bicycle. We both enjoy that; it can be a fun way to sightsee. So right now we're leaning towards Avalon but I don't think we can go wrong either way. Looks like we're going to go in late April or early May. Am very excited for this trip. Again, thank you.

My daughter and I are planning to cruise this summer, probably an eight day cruise that ends in Budapest so we can spend a couple of extra days there. I've looked at both Viking and Avalon and am wondering if anyone has thoughts on which would be the better choice.

Aft vs hump????
in Royal Caribbean International
Posted
We've done both although our aft cabin was on deck eight. There are pros and cons to both. We did love the big balcony aft but really found that to be the only advantage. There was more vibration but no soot issues. The long walk was no big deal. Our next cruise we're back on the hump though and are fine with that.
