  1. I believe they are "free" for GS and better suite guests and $4.95 for others.

    Thanks Bob!

I get the convenience, I'll have to investigate CC a bit more. If it means taking it off to get a Drink at Venues, I see little value in taking Off a "watch like" device each and every time, I partake in my favorite Beverage.

  2. It has been a couple of days but I will try to finish today. Being such a large group ages from 23 to 84 we all kinda of did things on are own. So this will be what I did, So having the first couple of days as Sea days was wonderful I was on this ship 3 years ago so it didn't take long to find my way around. Our cabins were in the front of the ship Deck 11 and mine was right around the corner from the elevators. My point of reference on deck 5 was front of ship is Starbucks and back of the ship is Guest Services and on deck 16 front was the Solarium and back was Windjammer.

The first 2 days just relaxed on deck and read and wandered the ship. First stop was St Marten mist of the family had excursions but since I need to use a cane or walker depending on how I'm feeling no excursions for me. Got off the ship and they had golf carts running from the ship to the main area and back. So I jumped on one and did a little shopping and then went back to the ship. Most days I ate lunch at Windjammer always had a good selection to choose from.

Went to the Comedy Show comedians were very good but these shows are for adults.

Second stop was San Juan from I believe 7:30 to 2:00 again did not get off ship but I have been there before. Most of my family did Horse Back Riding they all enjoyed it. This is the day I found my new favorite drink. At the Solarium Bar I asked for a Pina Colada and they asked if I wanted to try a Kracken Colada, it was wonderful the Kracken Rum was a dark rum and very mellow.

Third stop was Labadee we were all off the ship by 9 and had a group of loungers under some trees by 9:30. The weather was very warm but there was a wonderful breeze. Enjoyed the day did some shopping and had lunch the food was good I had fruit and some salad. Enjoyed a couple of Labadozies the y were good.

Most nights I would wander around went to Boleros to listen to music and watch people dance, On Air for Karaoke there were some really good singers. Also hit the Casino as I enjoy Roulette dif pretty good for the week started with 200.00 ended up at 350.00.

If anyone has any questions I will be glad to try and answer them.

We were on the same Cruise with you, and also went to Karaoke, but missed the Finals to be somewhere else, Do you know who Won? Some exceptional Talent we thought as well.

  3. Just off the Allure - St Martin, San Juan & Labadee. I was traveling with my Family total of 13 people. Myself, Sister & BIL did this cruise rest of family did a B2B. It Was a wonderful cruise we were on the Allure back in 2014 so it did not take a long time to get the layout of the ship. We were all on deck 11, I was in 11566 with beds near the door. My stateroom attendant was very good no problems at all, he kept ice in my parents cabin, and as always had the cabin made up in no time.

Both my Mom and I needed assistance to get onboard and Royal has this down to perfection. Once we got to the pier one of my sisters went to find out where we should go. The is a sitting area right near the doors to wait in. So my Mom & Dad, myself and Sister & BIL waited there the rest of the family waited in the rather long line they told us the whole family could board together but we didn't want to take advantage of this service. So within about 15 minutes they came with wheelchairs and took us around the long lines into a line for wheelchairs and such. Our group of 5 were checked in and on ship within 20 minutes, once on board we went to the Champagne Bar to wait for every one else, they were all there with in 20 minutes.

So we had a drink or 2 then went to our cabins. So of the luggage was already there. I had my 2 pieces of luggage and Walker by 2:00. So I unpacked for the week - side note I used packing cubes for the first time and it was wonderful and made unpacking and repacking a breeze. Went to the Muster Drill then back to our Cabins and Balconies for Sail Away. We had the late seating for dinner, we only ate the there on the first night and the Second Formal night as a group the rest of the time we all did different places. Though one night we all ate at Chops. Service and food were great everyone enjoyed.

Will write more later. I do have the Cruise Compasses for the week. If anyone would like a copy let me know and I can scan and email to you.

We too were on that Sailing (Me, Wife, Son and his Girlfriend). We thought everything was very good, and despite some comments on CC about Service (or lack of), I personally thought Service was Very Good, and Bar Service was timely. I tend to be pretty patient (at least while on vacation), so honestly I didn't mind waiting 5 minutes for a Drink on occasion.

We all thought the Entertainment was exceptional.

  4. I know often, there are discussions about the Poor IT Dept at RC, and how on occasion they show additional charges on your Reservation (and in fact that happened to me a number weeks ago). But Now, for my upcoming Sailing, next Weekend, I'm seeing a Credit on each Reservation of approximately $700.00 per Reservation.

Has this happened to anyone else recently, and is it possible they applied a Credit automatically due to some better Sale than that which I used when I originally booked the Cruise?

Or is it their "crack" IT Dept messing up AGAIN?

    Thanks

  5. So, can you provide some simple explanation of the Mobile Passport App? Is the information already in a Database of sorts that allows Customs to process you quicker?

    Thanks

We just spent our 40th anniversary on the amazing Allure of the Seas.

These are my impressions of this spectacular ship:

About us- we are in our early 60's and traveled with my father in law (90) end his wife (late 70's)

We are Diamond while they are Gold. We took a transport chair for him. The chair was just what he needed because the ship is huge.

Embarkation: easy and very quick. We arrived at the port at 10 and we were on the ship by 11

The ship: WOW, it is amazing. We had a boardwalk cabin and enjoyed the ocean and entertainment view. We watched some of the game shows but be aware it is noisy at night even with the door latched. About midnight it settles down. Our room was comfortable but with only 2 drawers storage can be an issue. My daughter sailed Harmony a month ago and she gave me great tips. The closet has 6 shelves and I purchased fabric bins at Dollartree. The shelves are different sizes so we brought 2 large bins and 3 smaller ones. They really saved us. FYI There is only shampoo in the shower dispenser and bars of soap. Everything was kept clean and tidy. The walking track is a great way to work off those extra calories. Every employee we met was friendly and helpful. The only exception was our maitre d'. He got offended when we didn't opt for lunch in Chops and ignored us the rest of the cruise.

Food: We did 1st night done right at Giovanni's. I went to the restaurant when we got on and made the reservation. It was good and DH thought it was great. I had Osso Bucco and he had the steak. We ate lunch at the Windjammer, Central Park Cafe, Johnny Rockets, Sorrentos, American Icon, Solarium Bistro and the Promenade Cafe. We had table 142 and the best wait staff we have ever encountered in 27 cruises, Nike and Austin. We had made reservations and the hostess remembered us every night and we sat near the entrance because of the wheelchair. We thought the food was excellent and it arrived hot. Food is subjective but I'm a pretty good cook and I yummed at every meal. Check your tv for wait times in the Windjammer. We never waited but there were really long lines at about 9 am and again at 1pm. The lines for stand-by reservations and even those with reservations at American Icon were really long at 8:00 pm. We didn't order room service.

Entertainment: Again subjective but it was outstanding the exception being Mo5aic. We have dear friends who have a theater in Branson and they are an amazing vocal band so we were pretty picky. We had reservations and there is handicap seating at each venue but come about 20 minutes early. Best entrainment at sea imho.

Diamond lounge: Great place to hang out the first 2 nights. When we went after hours 8:30ish and later the last few nights there was a really rowdy group upstairs, not Diamond members, that totally ruined the ambience. We ate breakfast there one morning.

    Ports:

Nassau-I downloaded a walking tour and we walked in the rain and thunderstorm. We talked to people on board that had snorkling tours that cancelled because of the lightening.

St Thomas- We rented a car and went to Saphire Beach, Meagans Bay and Mountain Top. It was a good day.

St Kitts- again we walked around town for a couple of hours. Next time we will go to the beach but we were beached out.

Disembark: We did self disembarkment and had downloaded the mobile passport and it took about 15 minutes. You still need your passport so don't put it away. We were catching an 8:40 flight and we were at the airport before 7:00 am.

I will try to answer any questions you might have. Allure is definitely a new favorite.

  6. Robyn, thanks for sharing your Cruise.

Any plans to Post the Daily Compass? We will be sailing same itinerary in Mid June - Thanks.

It's midnight, and we are home safe and sound.... a very long travel day.

I'll continue to answer questions if anyone asks, although tomorrow it's back to the office I go - good thing I love my job [emoji6]For those wondering, I'm the Corporate Human Resources Manager for a large organization based in Toronto [emoji16]

    Happy Mother's Day!

  7. My gosh Robyn, you couldn't have Ordered better weather and Seas this week. I'm envious and can only hope for similar for our June 18th Sailing.

Last October (Oasis) we departed FLL when Hurricane Matthew was wreaking havoc in the Caribbean, but it had little if any impact on our Cruise, so you just never know.

Again, I'm enjoying and look forward to your Reports.

Good morning! We are just about at Labadee, and once again it is a gorgeous sunny day ☀️

Time to have some breakfast and head ashore soon after the gangway opens at 10.

I'll be taking lots of pictures today, and will post a full recap once I'm back onboard later this afternoon.

For those who may be interested, the Captain backed the ship into port at both St. Maarten and now Labadee. If your cabin is Port side, there isn't much to see from your balcony while the ship is docked. I say that, but looking at the ocean works for me any day! [emoji4][emoji41]

  8. Robyn, it's not the Heat, it's the Humidity, LOL. Seriously, 28C is about 82F, not Terribly Hot, so I assume it's quite Humid.

I can't wait to read your Review after all is said and done - we are sailing the same itinerary in June, and while we've been on Oasis, never on Allure. I like the fact that Allure still has the Old Menu's in the MDR, we did miss some of those Offerings on the last sailing of Oasis.

I'm curious to see your review of Giovanni's tonight. We did the First Night Done Right, and I hope to visit Gio's.

    Loving the Review, thanks.

Never rely on the Caribbean weather forecast. It is a perfectly sunny and HOT day in San Juan ☀️☀️

I sent my request and received a Confirmation for our June 18th Sailing,

    it's special_needs@rccl.com

Also, following, WOW talk about calm Seas. I remember one Cruise experiencing similar seas, I swear we could have been on Labadee Type Mats.

I'm curious to get your thoughts on Schooner Bar and Bow & Stern entertainers.

    Thanks

  10. Yeah, you just never know what to expect in Hurricane Season and with that said, we've Cruised a number of times during the Season. Most recently we sailed on Oasis (Oct 1 - 8, '16) and you may recall Hurricane Matthew was causing considerable destruction. We didn't know what, if any impact it might have. In the end, we didn't even know there was a Hurricane in the area. The only alteration the Captain made to the Itinerary was on the way back to FLL from St. Martin; rather than sailing well of the Coast of Cuba, he stayed a tad closer, explaining the Seas may be rougher if he were out in the "open" a bit. We didn't even have any rain from the Storm, Granted, by the time were Departed FLL, Matthew was heading over Hispaniola and then was turning North, and by then, we were well East an heading South of it.

I guess that's the advantage of being on a Ship, with enough time, they can alter the course, unlike being on an Island and captive to the Storm.

But, I'm sure others have different Hurricane stories.

  11. Went there in October, Loved it, I think I had the Lamb (sadly I can't remember, lol). Highly recommend the Cucumber Martini, and this from someone who, one doesn't drink much, and two, told the Waiter "I'm not a Martini type of guy". Maybe the Best Drink I had all Week. Also went to Chops and Giovanni's, enjoyed as well, but we enjoyed CP more, I think because the Waiter made the overall experience exceptional.

  12. Depends on the number of nights you're Sailing and whether you purchase pre-Cruise or after you Board. Typically, RCCL will discount the Pkg Pre-Cruise. Our upcoming 7 nt on Allure was $48 pp + 18%, so about $396 pp. Most Cocktails will range between $10 - $13. I believe, from reading on CC, that on Allure and Oasis, the Alcohol Pkg will cover Drinks up to $13, but I'm sure this will be confirmed.

Price for a Pkg after you Board varies, but will be in the neighborhood of $56 and up, plus 18%.

If you purchase a drink that is, say $14, you'll be charged $1 + 18% gratuity for that Drink or $1.18. (Assuming you bought a Drink Pkg).

If Interested, I have a Spreadsheet that I didn't create but someone on CC did, that I find helpful to determine your Breakeven, if that's important to you.

  13. I've not been able to see VIsa points OBC on line. However, I have seen it on the booking confirmation.

The Visa redemption people usually apply that OBC in order of cruise date, so if your cruise is still months away, it may not have been applied yet.

Thanks Bob, since I'm still about 3 Months out, it probably just isn't showing up yet. I'll check as I get Close to Sailing Date.

  14. Contact whoever booked your cruise and ask them to send you Royal's Guest Copy of your booking confirmation.

Thanks, I just checked my Booking Docs and Yep it' listed for each Passenger.

I'm still wondering how to confirm the BOA OBC. I'm hoping it can be Confirmed On-Line and I don't need to go through a litany of "push 1 to ... and push 5 to ..."

    Thanks

  15. I have OBC as a result of Booking our upcoming Cruise while on our previous Oasis Cruise (in Oct). How do I confirm my OBC ($100 per Cabin) with Royal, as well as $25 for a Referral?

Also, we used the Bank of America Card, and I completed their Form months ago to obtain additional OBC. How, again, do I confirm my OBC on the BOA Card? When I look in the Account, I don't readily see anything indicating I have applied and it has been "approved".

    Thank you

  16. What's your favorite spot on Oasis for cocktail hour/s? Any spots with ocean views specifically?

I know it doesn't provide an Ocean View, but we enjoyed the Champagne Bar for the Martinis. And let me preface this by saying, I'm not a Martini (Gin/Vermouth) drinker. But if this is what Martinis have become, Line em up. :)

We enjoyed stopping there after Dinner, before our Evening entertainment, or just before Dinner, to People watch - can be quite entertaining.

Also, enjoyed Boleros for Latin inspired Drinks.

I'd caution you to order either from the Menu in the Bar, or make sure they know how to make what you order. I ordered a Smith & Kearns at On-Air, and he started making something with Hennesey, NOT.

The only time I drank with an Ocean View, was from the Pool Deck during the Day.

Sorry, I know this doesn't answer your question.
