Are any of the specialty dining venues open for lunch on embarkation day on Harmony?
-
This happened to us a couple of years ago disembarking in Vancouver. One piece of a matching two piece set was not in the waiting area. First time in 13 cruises. I searched and searched as more luggage was being stacked out, but it never came. The RCI person was very helpful in searching the aises with me several times as the luggage eventually thinned out to nothing. She took a lost luggage report from me. One week later without notice, the large suitcase shows up at our door via Fed Ex. Inside of it was a RCI inventory sheet listing out all of the contents they saw in it prior to shipping it. I am pretty certain it was taken by mistake and then returned to the port. We were amazed to see it again. It was the suitcase that had our dirty laundry and all of our Alaska souvenirs.

I should also mention that you should plan to do the walk off with your luggage early to meet their pick up time at the dock.

We did the Rowes Wharf water taxi cruise ship special. It worked great.

They pick you up right at the dock, take you to their facility where you store your bags. Spend the day sightseeing on your own, then they take you and your luggage to the airport in the late afternoon.

That land/sea excursion sounds like fun!
It was a short tour driving the streets of Fort Lauderdale, and then a narrated boat tour in the waterways passing all the homes and yachts. Then dropped at the airport with time for lunch before the flight. This was a very pleasant way to end our 15 night Panama canal crossing.

Right now I'm thinking of upgrading to first class and sitting in the lounge all day!
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Delta lounges are available (at least for free) to domestic flight first class passengers.

RC has a bus tour/intercostal boat ride that looks interesting.
We did this. It was great.

Looks like a wonderful time. Thanks for posting!

We did olistrolley dot com for a tour to Cadillac Mountain. Very easy.
Take a heavy coat.

LOST Property - property that was unintentionally left by it's true owner
MISLAID Property - property that was intentionally set down by its owner and than forgotten.
A wallet falls out of a pocket, its lost. It is left on a table in a restaurant it is mislaid.
So under common law, the finder keeps it if it is found in a common area, such as on the street. However, if it is mislaid, the shop owner (cruise line) has a better claim to the property. Think of if you find it in the safe, and it is mislaid, than the ship has claim to it, and you took it from the ship thus stealing from the ship who holds the claim to it.
The mislaid item is claimed by the business, who in theory has a better chance of reuniting the item to the owner. In this case, you found it in the stateroom, so most likely, the ship knows exactly who it belongs to. Allowing the property owner (the ship) keep it, makes it easy, and realistic for the recovery of the item to the proper owner.
Bottom line is the poster is not the owner, but the ship is the new owner and the poster stole from the ship. It was just like any other item in the ship.
I found a television in my cabin. Are you suggesting that I shouldn't have taken it?

Unless thats what floats ones boat, so to speak!
Please, "ship". Have we not learned anything today?

NOOOOOO!!!! MY SO is a Fox news junkie I was hoping for a news break on the Jewel. I hate watching news on vacation. Guess I am out of luck there.
Don't worry, you won't be.

You have just made a monument out of your ignorance typical hypocrisy claiming your tolerant while spewing your own prejudices.

Intolerance of intolerance is NOT intolerance. When in doubt, try live and let live.

Set fixed number of FREE drinks period. Limit it too two in DL. That would free up seats. If your two are used up in DL, then you can’t use in Dinning areas.
If you drink outside of DL, set to 3 on Pass But drinks in DL count towards the 3.

Then why even bother having a DL?

I like the harbor tour on the Carrie B. Narrated 90 minute tour from Downtown Ft. Lauderdale off Las Olas Blvd. if you have a rental car you could store your luggage in it. Las Olas has a lot or restaurants and shops as well and leads to the beach. carriebcruises.com
We did this Harbor tour. It was offered as a ship excursion with a short sightseeing tour of the city before the harbor cruise, and then a drop off at the airport afterward. They hold your luggage in the bus the whole time.

We went to Peppers and had a nice time.

Vacation is my time to relax and escape. I spend almost every other day of the year filling my head with actual information and verifiable facts. Why would I want to watch MSNBC while on a cruise?
-
I would imagine not. Walk in security is not able to screen large suitcases.

In real life, it's much worse than other ports in my experience. You have to go through this to get out of the port area to the Highways and out to the Locks. Have you ever ported there?
We did a Colon port stop following a full canal transit in 2013. We did the Panama City excursion through the RCI offerings.
I agree that Colon outside of the pier area looked dismal and the tour bus operator warned us not to venture beyond the pier area.
Contrast this to Falmouth (2012). We talked to a police woman at the protected area gate and she said we would be fine walking around the actual town. Here are some photos. It was quite nice walking around and we even talked with some locals that were just hanging out by the shops.
The following year, when we saw Colon, we said no way. That photo that Hoopster posted was nicer than I remember!

Thanks for the great review. We did the southbound Radiance on June 23 and loved it. We had done the same itinerary on Vision back in 2005 and said probably "one and done" but alas it was in the cards to be fortunate enough to return. So I bet you will be back.
We did the First Night Done Right and found out on this forum that you can pick which ever restaurant when you board. We picked Samba grill and loved it
Loved seeing your perspective. We also did the Chilkoot Charter Tour and enjoyed it, but did not pay extra to actually ride the sleds. I noticed that you make no mention of walking through the main street in Skagway after the train. Did you get a chance to do that?
This was a great trip report. It will be very helpful for many people.

You are the rude fool that would make a entire table wait 10 - 15 minutes after the doors close to see if you show up. I see you only care about you and your vacation. Dinner does proceed as usual but only after others who have been well manured enough to waste there time waiting for you.
So sorry, but you are so off base on this. The wait staff knows darn well that people might do other options or nothing at all. They never hold up the service because of empty seats. This ain't my parents' cruise ships anymore. Sometimes they pretend to care by asking something like, "Oh, where are so and so?"
A collective shrug from the others at the table and service begins. Nobody is being kept waiting for anything. That would be insane.
-
I believe it was about $240.00 per person
Did you actually do this? What boat did they use? Was it one of the tender boats? How many people did it take?
-
We usually make a blanket comment to table mates and waiter that we are prone to choosing other options sometimes, so please don't ever wait on us if we aren't here on time. That being said, I think it's been years since I've noticed the wait staff even wait 2 minutes for any stragglers. The service always seems to begin promptly. The staff is fully aware that people are doing other things.

Does anyone know if the Maine lobster option at Chops is included in the UDP price?
Thanks.
