  1. If booking a cruise longer than 7 nights and more than 4 ports, if we choose the shore excursion $50 per port credit does it still apply to each port?

Looking at taking an 11 night cruise with 8 ports, so I was curious if I could potentially get $400 off my shore excursions if I did an NCL excursion at each port.

I wasn't sure if there was some kind of limit or fine print that I may be missing

  2. Sailing with UBP and SDP. The new Free at Sea came out and for the same price I can get the same perks as well as $100 OBC. My sailing is a ways out, so is there any reason I shouldn't cancel and rebook the same cabin so that I can get the $100 OBC. Now that NCL doesn't give you an extra latitude point per night for booking 9+ months out I don't see why not.

  3. We are arriving at Ocho Rios Jamaica on March 29th. I originally booked the shore excursion for Bamboo Beach Club VIP, but after seeing some negative reviews I was considering cancelling that and getting a day pass at Sandals Ochi. Has anyone else done this? What is your experience getting a cab from and to the port? What is your experience with the resort?

We did a day pass Jan 2016 at Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort and it was fantastic. For about $80ish (I think) per person it included transfer to and from, beach, pool, food, and drinks. Not to mention the resort was beautiful. It is an adults only resort just as an FYI. I highly recommend it....my next land vacation could very well be here

  4. we are sailing on the NCL getaway March 4-11, 2018 we need to find a hotel in either Miami or fort Lauderdale for the night b4. its also the 1st week of spring break, didn't realize this when we booked the cruise lol

so any ideas were to stay that wont break the bank, not more then $140 a night if possible we have a group of 30 going.

I have flown into Ft. Lauderdale and taken Uber to Miami (roughly $40) where I stayed at the Sleep Inn Miami Airport (roughly $150) and then taken their shuttle ($10 per person) to the port in the morning.

  5. Thanks for the quick response. Out of curiosity, are there any lines that still have 5 or $6 table minimums? I know popularity varies from sailing to sailing but it seems like the tables were noticeably quieter than usual and I've been on about a dozen cruises.

Norwegian Getaway had $6 minimum blackjack, $10 minimum roulette, and $10 minimum craps. I think a few other table games had $5 minimums but not totally sure

  6. Hiya! New to the thread here and have a few casino questions... i have been on 10 various cruise and have never really set foot in one of the casinos, its just not my thing.

In 80days, my BF and I sail (his first cruise ever) and he enjoys a little casino action. So I know we'll make a visit in there. Here are my questions, does he need to bring cash? Is there an ATM available? Do you only use your sail card to access money for play?

Not sure what line you are on, but Norwegian takes cash, has an ATM, and allows you to use your card which they then add a 3% fee to.

  7. I had an aft balcony on the Getaway last year and the view while at sea is great, we liked it a lot better than the normal port or starboard balconies. While in port it's a toss up on the best view depending on how the boat is positioned. The aft balcony was also much larger as ours had an additional lounger. While it was slightly noisier on deck 13 aft than deck 12 port side, we would gladly do the aft again. Well actually, we were lucky enough that the Guarantee balcony gave us the aft view

  8. Hello, for anyone who has been to this water/adventure park, I was hoping you could answer a few questions...

Ideally, what would we take with us into the park? Can we take our own water bottles? Are towels provided? What kind of shoes would be idea?

Also, if you leave the park can you come back in? Some reviews seemed to complain about the food, so would it be feasible to go back to the cruise ship to have lunch and then return to the park (especially because my family is vegetarian)?

Are there shaded areas or umbrellas if we need any time out of the sun? Some of us have fair skin.

Are there lockers, or how would you recommend we keep our cruise cards, shoes, other items safe?

How crowded would you anticipate the park to be with 2 ships in port (RCI 4000 person ship and Carnival 2000 person ship)?

    Thanks!

    Thanks!

Was just at this park on 1/12 and had a blast. We are younger and like a little adventure so this park was pretty fun. Here is what I know regarding your questions...

    1) Not sure if you can take water bottles in with you, but they never checked.

    2) Towels were not provided, so we brought ours from the ship.

    3) Water shoes would work great but aren't a necessity. We only had flip flops but when doing the waterslides we went barefoot and many of the paths were a little tough on our feet. When doing the ziplines you finish in water and we were required to take our flip flops off on the final leg.

    4) Not sure if you could come back into the park or not. They give you a wrist band so you may be able to show it when you return.

    5) There were plenty of shaded areas at the pool to stay out of the sun

    6) There are lockers available for a $5 fee I believe. We kept our stuff at the chairs at the main pool area. The only people we saw in this area were other cruisers from our boat.

    7) We were there with just our boat of roughly 3,500 passengers. The longest line I ever waited in was probably 3 minutes. More than half of the rides I went right up and did it without any line. It was pretty great!

  9. Has anyone had $17.95 drinks made with a "cheaper" brand to keep price in $15 limit? Is that common at the bars?

Ordered a patron margarita (under $15 on 1/2016 sailing) as the first drink at O'Sheehans. The waiter came back and told us it was $17 now so we asked for a tequila that would be under the $15 mark. They had no problems with this at all.

  10. Thanks for the replies!! It sucks that the Muster drill is at 330! I was kind of thinking that there might be a conflict there. Do you know how I can figure out where my muster station will be? I'm in room 14242.

Your key card will give you what station you're to go to - your stateroom will show what location this is.

I also had to miss some of my Steelers while going through the muster drill. It does not last long and all TVs are turned off during this time, so there is no use in skipping the drill. On my cruise 1/8 on the Getaway they did not play the game on the big screen in the Atrium. Only small screens at O'Sheehans and Sunset Bar that I saw - not sure about other places
