  1. Your drink package includes wine from any venue (including Vintages) that serves wine by the glass. However, there are some exclusions, such as room service, beverages from your stateroom mini-bar, and wine from dispensers.

In other words, you can get glasses of wine at Vintages, but they must be served by a bar server not the wine dispenser.

Many thanks for this info. We are sailing with another couple but we are spending two nights pre cruise in Barcelona as we have never been. The other couple are flying straight in from the UK to the ship and I think this will be an ideal place to meet once we have boarded.

  2. We have the deluxe drinks package and are on board Freedom next year. As you say, they only serve wine. How does the wine dispenser work? Does our drinks package include the wine from this venue? Is this a self serve wine dispenser place? Sorry for these questions but I thought Vintages was a wine bar where you order your glass of wine and provided it is under $12 its part of the drinks package.

    Can someone advise please.

So looking forward to visiting this venue and having some down time if it is indeed quiet.

    Many thanks

  3. Now that I'm back on a freedom class next month, me and the wifey go right to vintages, plop ourselves down on the patio and sip back vino, with appy's and take part in people watching.

Sounds great but what are appy's??????? WHats the fizz like? Weve got the deluxe drinks package and I adore a glass of bubbly, my fav is Verve Cliquot but a good proscecco will do instead.

  4. Many thanks everyone - Ive looked at the web site and reviews and am going to post on our roll coll if anyone wants to make up a group of 8. Its well over a year but as Rome will be the highlight for my husband, I want to make sure we reserve the transport and tours.

  5. HI everyone

My husband and I have booked for next year on a med cruise and as it happens it will be the week of my husband's birthday. He has always wanted to visit Rome. I am thinking of booking a more or less private tour of the Vatican, Sistane Chapel and St Peters Well its a small tour of no more than 12 people but it means you have to be in the meeting place at 8.10 am. Our ship docks at 7 am. Do you think this is possible? WIll we be able to get off quite early to get into Rome so that we don't miss the tour at 8.10?

Any advice you can give would be most appreciated.

Don't worry everyone, it wont be possible, I didn't realise it can take well over an hour to get into Rome and that's by train!!!!!!!!!!

  7. I usually use the showers in the gym because we go right to the pool and it is easier to use the warm water and body wash in there than just step into the cold shower by the pool. I also use the shower to cool down after the sauna or steam. The showers are actually much nicer than the ones in the rooms also because they are BIG! I have heard several people talk about using them when there are several people in the cabin and getting ready at dinner can be a challenge I guess, we have not had this issue but I see it mentioned.

Oh I see - seems a bit of a bind dragging all of your clothes there. Do they provide towels for the shower and also the gym.?

  8. Since it's been 10 years since I've been on Freedom of the Seas, do they still have the locker rooms in the Fitness Center, along with the shower stalls?

    TIA

I'm a little bit confused why they would have locker rooms and showers in the fitness centre? Surely after a workout you would go back to your cabin/statement for a shower etc?

On my last cruise I went to the gym (Azamara Quest) and after went back to my room to shower and change - I know people used the showers in the fitness place saying that they were better and there was a lot more room than the ones in their room. Am I missing out of something?

  9. We have a cruise booked on navigator for next June . We booked in March this year pretty much as soon as the itinerary was released. The price now is about £1000 more than we paid - but now they are giving a "free" drinks package which wasn't available when we booked. My point being that the base price of the cruises is often adjusted just before promotions start . We don't drink very much so for us it is better to book early and get a lower base price and just pay for drinks as we go.

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

I sort of gathered that, people tend to think they have got a good deal (its a marketing ploy) and generally one never knows which promotion will suit them.

The booking all happened so quickly - for us the price was right and within the budget and to have the drinks, wifi and OBC thrown in as well was a bonus. We usually tend to go to Spain in October to chill and play golf (our last bit of sun and comfortable golf before the UK winter sets in, however the golf courses are getting so over crowded in October and taking nearly 6 hours to even reach hole 13 is no joke. I know its no excuse but both my husband and I just didn't play very well at all - having to wait so long before taking your next shot caused us to loose "the zone of concentration" and my husband said that he didn't want to go away to Spain for golf in October ever again. I mentioned a cruise (we already had one this year - a 16 night from Bali up to Osaka in Japan on Azamara) and he said to look at the MED. Azamara was well out of our budget and Celebrity only seemed to do 10 days (due to work commitments we could only allow ourselves one week) and then RCCL was offering the special, that we booked.

We are not big drinkers but we do like a couple of cocktails round the pool, maybe a gin and tonic pre dinner, wine with dinner and a liquor after and maybe more if we go to the casino or a show. Last time we cruised with RCCL and Celebrity, our drinks bill was outrageous. This way with the drinks package and I believe we get all soft drinks and water and coffee too, thrown in, will save us that nasty bill at the end of the cruise

    :)

  10. Yes it is/was a special promotion for the UK. I guess its all swings and roundabouts as I know that we had to pay £150 per person deposit which is not refunded but that USA you can re-book, cancel many times and not loose your deposit.

My colleague at work who is a die hard RCCL fan mentioned the offer (we were looking at other cruise lines for a Med cruise next year) and then another colleague at work (my husband and I have been away on holiday with them) said she was thinking about cruising having never cruised before and to cut a very long story short, we booked pretty much that day so as to take advantage of the special offer.

Sorry to hear that the USA customers did not get the promotion.

  11. Could not agree more about the outstanding Indian buffet! we always check as soon as we board to gt its schedule so we don't run into a reservation conflict with the speciality restaurants.

Thanks for the heads up on this. Our favourite food apart from Italian is Indian and we too want to book Chefs Table PLUS 4 when we board. If they know when we book the theme buffet nights we can adjust our dining accordingly when we book.

    :)

  12. I had already been let down by Azamara (for very valid reasons - they decided to put the ship into dry dock for 2 weeks re-fit) when I booked last year for the 1 April cruise this coming April, having paid deposit and luckily I hadnt arranged the flights, hence the reason I am slightly concerned that they could, again for very valid reasons, cancel the cruise at this very late stage from a safety aspect re the damaged propeller.

Thanks for all your comments everyone, they are very much appreciated.

  13. Hi everyone

I was looking on Cruise Mapper with a friend of mine who was wanting to see where the ship she was going on was at this point in time and I saw that Azamara Crest is in Australia at the moment as it should be finishing in Bali on 29 February where we board for our 1 March to Japan cruise.

However, when I click onto the Itinerary section of that site there is nothing for our cruise 1 March 2016 - its not there and also again when I looked on the Azamara site itself, its not there.

A few months back it had disappeared from the Azamara site as it was fully booked but I had noticed these last few months it was back showing some availability.

Please someone tell me its a glitch in the system and they are not taking it out for 2 weeks to repair that propeller that got damaged in Australia a few weeks ago.

We fly out to Bali next Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Worried.com ::(

  14. We will be on Quest for the 3/1 cruise departing Bali. So, I emailed a friend who is currently on Quest to inquire about its status. 4 days ago, he replied after talking with a senior officer on Quest. Repairs were undertaken, and everything is OK. The ship is perfectly safe. Complete repairs will be done during drydock in Singapore.

In an email received early today, we were told "so far so good"!

We're leaving in 2 weeks, and are looking forward to an excellent cruise on Quest!!

    Ditto:)

  15. Wow, you are organized! I'm am impressed and yet my method is to wait until the last minute to pack. Sometime maybe I'll become a packing planner!

The one thing you don't need to pack is a hairdryer, unless you simply like yours more than ours.

I dont think the hairdryers will be powerful enough. I think I read on the forum their wattage is quite low - Mine is a 2600 PRO one which has that sort of thing that reduces frizz. Bit I am thinking of buying a travel one that has 2000 wattage.

  16. Wondering how MUCH to pack?

34 days around the Mediterranean - no formal wear required.

How many different outfits for day, and how many for dinner?

Trying to decide what to take - help!

I actually prepared an A3 spreadsheet and made a row for every day which showed the expected high and low temperatures (I plagarised the temperatures this from another forum member but prepared my own spreadsheet.)

I listed the times of departure from home and ETA at the airport. Times of take off from airport and arrive etc etc. I also listed out on every day, whether we have an excursion planned and the sea days and then marked those days when I would like to go to the speciality restaurants (we want to book the Chefs Table Plus 4 - we are on a 16 nighter). I was then able to gauge those casual clothes and those evening clothes where I would want to wear a nice dress to the Chefs Table and the 2 special restaurants and a more casual attire to the MDR or what I wanted to wear to the Azamazing Evening.

I now have my pretty much completed list and from that I have been able to plan the pjs I need, underwear etc.

I then went from there but as said before you can always go to the self service laundry or send out. For me I expect to have to go to the self service laundry with all of our underwear and easy iron stuff but havent ruled out using the $30 bag too. There will probably be a couple of my husband's trousers and my linen trousers which we would ask to be washed and ironed for a charge of course.

We depart 2 weeks this coming Saturday and all of my hanging clothes are hanging up ready for packing (although I may have to re-think what actually goes into the case because of the weight restrictions.

Problem is with the weight restrictions, its not really the clothes its all the toiletries, my hair dryer, my ghds, my cosmetics, these all weigh a lot.

OMG I have forgotten something - I havent even started on what shoes with what outfit............... back to the drawing board.

Oh No!!!!!!!! What about the handbags - I had forgotten those too.

Good luck - if you want to see my spread sheet please let me have your e mail address (I am not sure how to attach it to the thread).

  17. Ed Waters is on Journey right now and he plays soft rock/pop/mellow tunes and is very interactive....sometimes he does a music trivia quiz with everyone singing along on some of his sets....great fun.

Max di Faz is returning to Quest in a week or two, he's on vacation at the moment. He plays jazz/pop/swing and is a lovely man and very happy for you to chat and give him requests. He's also a great guitar player and his Max Grand one man show in the Cabaret Lounge should not be missed. Very entertaining.

You will have a great time with either of them entertaining you.

We are on the Quest in 3 weeks time (first timers on Azamara) - I didn't know they had a piano player in the evenings? Where does he play? How nice to have a cocktail or two before dinner or even a nightcap before bed listening to some nice piano music. I used to play the piano many many moons ago when at ballet school and had private piano lessons - I was chosen to play in assembly once or twice a week (when our music teacher was off) and I practised and practised Morning has Broken until I was allowed to play it - I never even touched a piano when I gave up dancing and have forgotten it all, I wouldn't even know where to start now BUT I haven't forgotten my ballet steps!

  18. Sorry to hijack this thread a bit but we are on the Quest in 3 weeks time - before its re-fit - I never knew there was a washing line in the bathrooms - is this in every statement? Although I don't like wet washing hanging around it would be good to hand the swim costumes to dry although I cant imagine where the line would go from to stretch to as my understanding is that the bathrooms are tiny.

Is it possible to hang the wet cosies over the back of the balcony chairs?

  19. I hope you have an incredible trip! We did Panama Canal many years ago, when Legend of the Seas was a new ship.

We too did Panama Canal on Celebrity's Summit. Met some lovely friends and have stayed in touch over the years. There was a historian who did a 3/4 maybe 5 days of lectures on the Canal. I never went but my husband did and said he was amazing in his talks not to mention how the building of it was a feat in itself.

    Have a lovely time.

  20. Hi everyone and thanks for all your help and comments on the packing issue.

Well today, is Saturday 5 February (3 weeks to go) and I spent this morning clearing out my wardrobes and drawers. All of my hanging clothes are hanging in the kitten room/beauty room/study (kitten room because I used to breed Siamese and Oriental cats and this was where mum had her babies until they were weaned and potty trained and were allowed free roam throughout the house although they were shut in the room when we went to bed. Beauty room because this room got converted into a mini salon when my daughter went to college to study Beauty and she practised on me and her friends (she now is 27 and has her own salon!) and study room as this is where I did my study in property law and now finally the spare room with desk and computer and "junk" - oh and cat radiator beds for my Siamese boy and Sphinx girl.

Oh I digress sorry - I have already put those clothes that don't crease into a packing cube i.e. knickers and swimming stuff. Its all going to fit that's for sure but its the weight of the toiletries could be a problem. Oh well we will see. I can always use up half of my husband's case. (lol).
