I’m a non drinker at the moment as well. I’m looking forward to all of the mojitos from Sugarcanes, but in virgin form! I’m also looking for recommendations for other virgin drinks to try!

10 days left until our 15th anniversary cruise, and I want to get even more excited than I already am!
Tell me about your favorite cruise tradition. How did it start?
My first (and only other cruise so far) Cruise was with my 12 year old son. Our favorite thing was getting little sandwiches from the Cafe Promenade (on Allure) and going back to our balcony to play dice and cards until late at night. It was just lovely listening to the ocean go by, nibbling yummy sandwiches, and spending quality one-on-one time with my boy.
I’m sure it’ll be a bit different, but I’m looking forward to doing the same thing with my hubby- simply chilling on the balcony, having treats, and watching the ocean go by. Can’t wait!!!
I can’t wait to hear what each of you loves and has made into a tradition!

Have fun! Take good care of Bliss- we will be boarding on the 13th! Save me some pretzel rolls! ;p

Thanks, Bird Travels. You are a wealth of great info. I appreciate it!

Does anyone know if they offer a behind the scenes tour on Bliss? If so, how and when can this be booked? I’m a huge nerd and love things like this- hopefully something exists!

Good morning all. It’s a gray and rainy day here, and I need some fresh reading material about all things cruise-y! Who can help a girl out with links to past trip reports? Pretty please?

Wonderful! Thanks for sharing. Hubby and I are headed to Mexico on Bliss in October. It’s our 15th anniversary and his first cruise, and we are super excited! I’m gobbling up anything and everything Bliss related right now!

We’ve been offered a $25pp minimum bid to upgrade to a mini suite on Bliss as well. We are quite happy with the location of our balcony room, and don’t want to risk getting a mini in a bad location. If you are the gambling type, go for it! If you like your current location, I’d stay put.

We are booked on the upcoming 10/13 Bliss sailing and have been assigned a midship balcony on Deck 11. (We booked a GTY) It seems like a nice location, and we like that it’s sandwiched between decks of cabins. After doing some reading, I started to get a little jealous of folks being assigned rooms that are higher up and closer to the Observation Lounge and pool deck. I’m thinking we might be much happier on 11 though, especially since we are hoping to use the stairs as much as possible on this sailing. It seems to sort of split the difference between public areas nicely.
I’m wondering- what is YOUR preference for cabin location? Why?

If you had to pick, what’s the absolute best food you’ve eaten on a NCL ship? (I love to talk food, and I’m busy compiling a list of things not to miss!

Thanks, BirdTravels! That’s exactly what I was hoping for! I appreciate it. It looks like there will be enough options to find something that will comfortably work. 65 Days to go!

No. You can’t book them beforehand. We plan to book onboard, but so t want to have dinners already planned that will potentially conflict. I just wanted to know if anyone can tell me about when the comedy shows were on their sailings so I can make an informed guess about dining reservations while I’m booking them online. Anyone? Please?

We are sailing Bliss in October, and are currently trying to plan some dining times. We know we’d like to book a comedy show or two once we get on board, but don’t want to book a dining time that might conflict. Can anyone tell me about what time the comedy shows are usually offered, and how long they last? Thank you so much!

I’d love to hear what folks have to say as well. It’ll only be my second cruise, but we are doing Bliss after doing Allure for our first cruise. We loved Allure, and Bliss looks wonderful!
-
I’d love to hear about your very favorite cruise-y things! I’d love to hear what you love about NCL too! (We will be sailing on Bliss, so keep your tips coming!)
This will only be our second cruise, and first vacation without our 5 kids in our 15 year marriage. At this point, I’d cheerfully row the ship if I had to, so everything has me excited.
On our first cruise, one of my very favorite things was simply sitting out on the balcony and watching the ocean go by while I drank my tea in the morning. It was so gorgeous and peaceful! Another favorite was standing out on our balcony at night and watching a huge lightning storm over Cuba as we sailed by. It was incredible!
-
Perfect, thank you! I wondered if that might be the case, since the link directs me to an entirely different page.

I’m new to NCL and the upgrade system, and have a quick question:
We placed upgrade bids today, but it can’t see any record on them on our main cruise planning pages. Where should I look?
I can follow the link they sent in my email, but shouldn’t there be an easier way to monitor/modify bids?

Hubby and I are relatively new cruisers (just one one Allure so far) and have Bliss booked for our anniversary in October. We’ve got the UBP as one of our perks, but I don’t drink alcohol. Hubby does, and he’s excited about the good beer in the brew house! I’ll steal a few sips here and there, but would rather drink virgin drinks. Will bartenders make virgin versions of some of the drinks, and are they covered by the UBP? Can I get tonic and lime? I know it doesn’t cover some things, but I’m hoping that virgin drinks shouldn’t be a problem. Thanks in advance for input! I learn so much here on CC!

This is a bummer! We sail on Allure this Sunday, 8/13! Sure hoping they are able to sort it out. It's our very first cruise, and I'm hoping for a great time!
Of course, we are pretty good at making our own fun, so I don't think it'll be a problem...
Could this be the azipod issue I asked about last week, perhaps?
-
😂. I'll try to ignore the amateur engineers! Just was trying to gauge whether I need to hedge my bets. I'm 99% sure that both my son and I would actually enjoy a little rocking of the ship, and that neither of us will get sick at all. We've got an ocean view balcony, so we can always sit out there and keep an eye on the horizon if anything starts to feel too wacky. Thanks, all!
-
They may not have. I read in someone's post that it was for repairs to an azipod, but i suppose that may be heresay.
-
Recently, I ready that Allure was going to have some slight schedule changes due to repairs being needed on one of her 3 azipods, right?
Being new to cruising, I have no idea whether I'll have any tendency towards motion sickness on a huge cruise ship. My guess is no, but that's not necessarily certain.
I understand that if Allure is sailing with just 2 of her azipods functional, the captain will be less likely to use the stabilizers because they cause too much drag, therefore slowing the ship further.
Watching tropical storm Emily blow in prompted me to ask whether we know if the azipod will be fixed, because I'd like to know if I should give real thought to bringing bonine or something similar.
For those of you who have cruised though higher seas and rough weather, how did it affect you?
-
My 12 year old son and I will be on the 8/13 sailing of Allure. I'd LOVE to be able to show him the teen compass. I think I've seen it fairly recently-maybe as part of a review? I've searched the forum, but have had no luck. Could one of you more savvy cruisers help, please?

Between the Hilton Marina and which property, Vic The Parrot? A shuttle to the beach would be great!
