We are considering an Alaska cruise next year in May and the one we are looking at says we arrive at Victoria at 7:30 pm. What time does it get dark? What can you advise about Victoria? We won't be spending a lot on shore excursions.

We are considering a cruise to Alaska from Seattle in May of next year. Would anybody like to offer some advice about that?

My review has been published along with pictures. I don't know how to tell you to get to it.

We just finished a cruise on the Freedom a week ago and the menu in the main dining room is not the same every night. You can get substitutions on vegetables.

Download tapatalk app and link it to cruise critic. Post pics through tapatalk and it will be here immediately.
Is tapatalk free? I saw where somebody mentioned paying for it and also said there were lots of ads. I am hesitant about putting it on my phone because I am running out of memory.

I saw the ox tongue one night on the menu but it doesn't appeal to me.

After the Good Hope Estate at Jamaica, we had the Hell, Turtle Farm, and Stingray Sand Bar at Grand Cayman. The area of rocks they call Hell is not very big. The turtle farm was interesting. We got to hold turtles and take pictures. On the sand bar I touched a stingray. It is rough on top. We waited til we got back on the ship to eat. Then we went to Cozumel. My son, his wife and her mother and the two granddaughters went snorkeling but my wife and I didn't. The buffet lunch was excellent. We also enjoyed the sea lion show.

I got a notice that says it hasn't been published yet; they will tell me when it is.

I used the review format and uploaded a lot of pictures; now where are they?

We had booked the Family Adventure at the Good Hope Estate. There were not a lot of activities besides walking around and seeing the house and the aviary. There was not a great variety of birds. Some would sit on your hand and eat bird seed but the birds did not want to be touched with your other hand. There was also a pool and a slide. They also had rum tasting. A meal with a bottle of water was $18. You could get jerk chicken or fried chicken or a chicken sandwich. I had the fried chicken and I thought it was good.
Ok how do I put pictures here?

We drove in from the Dallas area early on Aug. 5 and arrived in Galveston around 10:00 with no traffic problem. We stepped onto the ship about noon. After going to our staterooms, we headed to the buffet. I had fish. It was good. Sunday morning we had breakfast at the buffet. The cinnamon roll was not good and the biscuits were terrible. Otherwise it was good. There was bacon in varying degrees of doneness. Later I tried the strawberry ice cream and it was very good but they did not have that flavor every day. The dinner menu at the main dining room, called the Chic restaurant and also the Posh restaurant, was not the same every day. On the first Elegant night I had lobster and it was very good. Another time I had clam chowder and frog legs. They also have "brunch" on sea days and once I had steak and eggs. They will cook them any way you want them.
Monday was a bad day. It was a little stormy and we could feel a lot of ship movement. Once it felt and sounded like we hit a triple speed bump. Sunday I had only felt a little vibration in my feet in the bathroom. The rest of the trip was fairly smooth.

Guy's Burgers is only open 12 noon til 6 pm and they put it on a plate and you can take it anywhere. They are very good home-style burgers.

I used Dramimine with ginger.

If they would hire me for piano player and pay for some shore excursions in addition to a decent salary.
-
I am more concerned about where the ship is going, not which ship it is.

I won't be wearing a tux or a suit. I will wear dress pants and a western shirt.

I read on the Carnival web site that prescription drugs should be in your carry-on luggage. What about non-prescription drugs and vitamins? I didn't see any mention of those items but I could have over-looked them.

I haven't found very many cruises that go to the Dominican Republic. Is there a reason for that? Is there just not much demand for cruises that go there?

I hate cottage cheese. I don't care for smoked salmon either.

"This is reflected in my experience, lower quality food, disappearing tablecloths, reduction in staff, which erodes service"
I really don't care about tablecloths. I do care about food quality. I think if they want repeat cruisers, they should also care about food quality. If their burgers taste like McDonald's, I won't like it. Also I won't be splurging on pictures and drinks. Maybe I'm not a typical first time cruiser.

On deck three of the Freedom deck plans, I see the Posh restaurant and the Chic restaurant. Are these where you pay extra to eat?

Anything I think I need with me that I don't want to get wet, I would use ziplock bags and double bag things to be safe. You can probably buy better waterproof .containers.

I am going on my first cruise in 3 weeks. We chose Carnival mostly due to price. If I cruise again, I will want to go to a different place or if I return to the same port, I will want to do something different. Excursions are important to me; I want something interesting but not too expensive. I don't go just to swim or relax on a beach. I can do that without the expense of a cruise.
What did you learn on your last Carnival cruise?

The food is good. There were some things I didn't like but most of it was very good.
