Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Yep, that was us. I remember talking to you and you mentioned you were from Canada. You had a runaround with your dining reservation. I thought you were girlfriends on a cruise together. What a surprise to learn you were cruising with your daughter. You both look fantastic!
  2. We were in late seating, table for 2. Not sure it was us next to you. Yes, I tested positive on day 2 so we were a no show in the dining room. There were three 2 tops about a foot apart. We were seated in the middle of the 2 tops. I finally tested negative on May 25 and 26 and got off the ship in Athens. In fact, just walked off and got a taxi to Athens airport. I was very impressed with the care and concern I received by the medical staff and Guest Services. Also, the food from the room service menu was really good and accommodating with any requests I had.
  3. I also followed your blog after I tested positive on Brilliance on the 2nd day of a B2B. I am on day 8 in quarantine and still positive. Husband tested Negative and was not allowed to be with me in isolation. He was tested for 6 consecutive days and was Negative so he was free to roam around the ship. I am told I will need 2 Negative tests to get off the ship and will then get the Certificate of Recovery. So, now I am on my 3rd B2B. Hoping to test Negative before we arrive in Athens on Wednesday so we can fly home. I was double boosted just before we left the US so I was shocked that I got Covid. I realize now that I should have been wearing my mask everywhere even being vaccinated and boosted. We were very careful on the first leg. We stayed away from crowds, did not do any bus tours etc. but we were packed in like sardines at dinner. Lesson learned is that no amount of precautions taken will prevent you from getting COVID. Luckily, my symptoms were very minor (the famous cough). Staff has been very accommodating and room service food has been very good so, all in all I am just taking one day at a time but I want to get OUT of here. Thankful you made it home safely and your husband can have all the vegetables he wants!!!!!
  4. Medical dropped off my positive paperwork this morning. On my day 5 I will have an antigen test. My husband is still testing negative, thank heavens. The family from Ireland with the 4 year old got to leave quarantine last night. They were quarantined 8 days and am so happy they can enjoy the remaining 3 days. Their son was really good during the 8 days and occasionally escaped their cabin and ran down COVID hall with happy screams. I am feeling good with no Covid symptoms so am staying positive (!) that my test will be NEGATIVE tomorrow.
  5. Not sure about the freestyle drink machines as we are Diamond and get the 5 drinks a day on our sea pass card.
  6. You sure are a Debbie downer! Why so negative? I posted information I have gathered by walking the halls that are coded RED on deck 3. I am free to walk as much as I please in the quarantined area and I know who is receiving room service meals. Several of us in quarantine have been able to have hallway conversations. My stateroom door is always open. We are all trying to make the best of our situation. Really don’t appreciate your snarky insulations. Maybe you can find another thread to leave your comments as they are not appreciated here.
  7. Update on my Covid quarantine experience. Last night as I was setting my dinner containers in the hall a very nicely dressed couple stopped me to ask how to “get out”. I asked if they have COVID and they said no. I told them they were in a quarantine Covid area. They were shocked! I told them I knew a way to get them “out” and led them down COVID Hall to elevators that I had scoped out earlier in case I needed a quick getaway. Also met a neighbor with a 4 year old boy and his wife. They are from Ireland. He and his family all tested positive after his son spiked a high fever which necessitated a call to Medical. They tested positive a week ago today on the May 6 trip. They are still testing positive as of yesterday and at this point they want to get off in Grease to make their way to Mykonos where they booked a flight back to Ireland, but he just told me that the port stop to Mykonos has been cancelled tomorrow due to high winds. So now they are not sure what they are going to do. He thinks they caught COVID from his elderly parents, who had symptoms but managed to get back to Ireland when they were in Rome. More cases of COVID joining me on COVID Hall last night. A rough count is 10 total. My husband tested negative today, his 3rd negative. Two more to go. He was informed last night that he has to order all his meals in the room. Also not receiving any cabin cleaning etc. because I tested positive in the cabin. Initially, we were told I would be reimbursed for this cruise and he would not. He is going to talk to guest relations to get some compensation for his all the reduced benefits etc. Also will be trying to get my compensation package finalized before we depart.
  8. My husband tested with (PCR) again this morning. He will have to go to Medical every morning to get an antigen test. He is free to go anywhere on the ship but will be wearing a mask. Thanks for suggesting we get our account sorted out and other important information for disembarking ASAP. l get tested on Friday. That is our biggest worry now. I need to test negative on Friday, Saturday and Sunday so we can get off the ship. Staff has been wonderful, making sure I have whatever I need. Dr said I could walk the COVID hall whenever I wanted. I appreciate that as I try to stay fit by walking 4+ miles everyday. It breaks up the day because this is very depressing and boring.
  9. I was in a cabin on deck 4 inside. Husband still there. Get’s retested at 10am today. I did some snooping and there are a whole hallway of cabins for Covid (all porthole). I have a neighbor but do not think there are many more in quarantine.
  10. They did not test us for Covid on the changeover to this cruise. We had to show our vac cards but that was it.
  11. To answer some questions, I am in a room on deck 3 with a porthole. No balcony. This is a 20 year old ship so my movie selection is non existent. I scroll through the channels but other than news shows there is minimal entertainment. I have mild symptoms. My cough is dissipating. Only had one cough drop and no cough syrup and was able to sleep. Turned in at 10 pm and am wide awake at 1:15 am. Only other symptom is an occasional sniffle.
  12. My husband will be tested tomorrow at10 am. Dr. Said he can leave the cabin but wear a mask. The letter I received states that he is not allowed to be with me in the approved covid hotel and will need to find his own accommodations. l did order dinner and it came within an hour. Went to take a shower and NO HOT WATER. Called maintenance and they said someone will get it working. Also found out 2 people from the May 6 cruise are also in quarantine. This is going to be a long week and will be a real test of my patience .
  13. I'm in isolation now. It is 5:45 pm and no printed dinner menu’s. Ido not have a phone to use the QR code. Called twice. Protocols in Italy require that I test negative on day 5, 6, 7. Unfortunately, day 7 is the day after my cruise ends. I am told on day 7 I will be taken to an “approved” Italian covid facility of which there are 3. Complimentary transportation will be provided. My husband will have to fend for himself and find a hotel. I did manage to smuggle some silverware and a coffee cup. Thanks for suggesting.
  14. The doctor came to our room and I need to be tested on days 5, 6, and 7. They are moving me to isolation after a staff member comes and answers all of our questions. This could take some time based on the speed things are happening. Thanks for all the replies, but I am looking for constructive suggestions. I prefer not to hear from people who suggest I should not have reported.
  15. My husband and I just completed the May 9 cruise and are on the May 15 cruise. Last night I had a nasty dry cough so called medical first thing this morning. I tested POSITIVE and husband tested NEGATIVE. I am very bummed as I was vaccinated and double boosted (in April). I will be spending this entire week in quarantine. We have been quarantined in our original stateroom for 24 hours and husband cannot leave. He will be retested tomorrow. I have been told I will be moved to another room but have not received any information on when or where. I am posting to gather information as to what to expect from others that have gone through this issue. I was told that I will be in isolation for 10 days which means I will be moving to a hotel at the end of this cruise. We had flights and hotels booked after the cruise which will have to be cancelled and new reservations made for our flights home. Just trying to digest this news and appreciate any advise going forward.
