  1. Thank you! I JUST discovered this PopSlots today... only see a $100 and $50 OBC option and a 5% off fare option... do The rewards change day by day? Also we booked our most recent cruise on January 1. If I am reading the fine print correctly this means we need to redeem these by the 15th? TIA!!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I redeemed for the $100 OBC a couple weeks ago and the terms and conditions on the e-mail they sent (which I'll copy/paste below) only indicated I needed to redeemed within 30 days. I'd read that a booking is considered "new" if it has been made within 14 days, so I made sure to redeem it within 14 days of making my booking to be safe.

Another interesting bit: the terms and conditions indicated the reservation had to be made through Club Royale and wouldn't work for reservations for online travel sites. I'd made my booking through Expedia under a RC sale, but Club Royale didn't seem to care- they applied the credit within a couple hours of forwarding the reward e-mail to them. The worst case scenario is that MyVegas will credit the loyalty points back to your account if you encounter an issue redeeming your OBC reward.

It took about two weeks of running the apps and Facebook game whenever I was hanging around the house to garner enough loyalty points for the OBC, so definitely worth it to me!

Here's the terms and conditions from the redemption e-mail: Reward must be redeemed within 30 days of a new cruise reservation booking. Reward is applicable to new individual bookings only and is subject to verification. Only valid for new reservations made through Royal Caribbean Reservations at clubroyale@rccl.com. Not available for reservations made through online travel sites. Only one myVEGAS Reward can be used per reservation. Credit is in USD, non-transferable and shall not exceed $100.00. Credit is combinable with standard/full fare rates and restricted rates. Credit is not combinable with any other offer or promotion. Must be 21 years of age or older.

  2. In my experience with the 6-8 age group, Adventure Ocean staff didn't typically follow even the list of activities for each session. There were days my kids went because they wanted to participate in a specific activity listed and ended up playing gagaball instead. I didn't get the impression they follow a rigid schedule, aside from things like evening movie viewings. Your only option would be to ask the staff at Adventure Ocean if they could give you an idea of specific time frames for activities in a session.

  3. We were on Anthem in December and they had at least one parent/child activity scheduled each day. These included a scavenger hunt (went around the ship finding employees from each department to sign out sheet, with bonus points depending on what country they hailed from), family feud, art class (one was a drawing lesson, another we made paper snowflakes), gagaball, bingo, trivia, and a science lab activity.

There was a character breakfast, which eventually showed up in our cruise planner online. It wasn't well advertised on the ship itself.

Re: formal night. Escargot is available every night in the main dining room; one formal night had lobster tails on the menu (we had two, on a 12-night cruise). I felt like the food on the menu wasn't significantly more upscale in comparison to other nights, aside from the addition of the lobster.

  4. Any news about when the National Parks Service visitor centers in San Juan, Puerto Rico and St. Thomas, USVI will reopen? Our family loves visiting our national parks, collecting NPS passport stamps and having the kids participate in each Park's Junior Ranger program. We are on the 12/2 RCI Anthem sailing and are crossing our fingers that will be an option at one or both of those ports.

  5. We'll be on the same sailing and we're wondering the same thing. Are there any holiday-related activities happening on the ship in addition to the decorations? My kids asked if our elf (a la Elf on the Shelf) will be able to visit us on the ship, so we're going to have to get creative and/or heavily tip our stateroom attendant to ensure "Bobby Snowflake" stays active when we leave our cabin. :p

  6. This happened to me, too. The amount of OBC available in my cruise planner suddenly dropped from $200 to $100. (Only made complimentary reservations so far, so no reason for a deduction.) Emailed my TA, who said he had no idea what happened there, but would kick in another $100 OBC out of his pocket to make up for it the week before our cruise.

Still wanting an explanation for what's going on (since who's to say the remainder won't vanish, too), I emailed RCL customer support. They said that it must have changed because I changed my reservation and to contact my travel agent. I responded that nothing changed on my reservation- still in the same inside guarantee I've had since Day One- so it must be a technical issue on their end that my TA has no control over, and I have yet to receive a response.

This is my first cruise with RCL and I'm getting pretty wary of what to expect after this, along with a couple other issues we've encountered after booking. If anyone can point me in the direction of who to speak to for a resolution, I'd appreciate it.

  7. Mine was assigned to me immediately and I am pleased with the room assignment. I was worried we were going to get an obstructed balcony view but we lucked out and it isn't.

Don't get too attached to your assignment. We booked an inside guarantee (because it was one of the last options on a December Anthem cruise we wanted) and were super excited when we were assigned a midship room on a lower deck that was an upgrade to a large oceanview (one motion-sickness prone kid means that's a great location for us). I'd never heard of a room assignment being switched after getting a stateroom number, so I was pretty surprised when I went into our reservation a month later and saw we had been moved to an interior room on a higher deck. I know that RCI can do whatever they want in that regard until we board the ship, but I would rather they had left our room unassigned for an extended period of time than give us an upgrade and then take it away.

  8. Do we have any new data points for using OBC pre-cruise? If so, which ship(s) and sailing(s)?

Wondering if the pilot for allowing this on a limited number of (March & April 1) sailings has been extended and if anybody had difficulties once onboard with purchases or remaining OBC.

I just had the pre-cruise OBC offer appear as a pop-up in Cruise Planner for my June 18th Summit sailing. It hadn't shown up prior to today; in fact, I was unaware of having any OBC for this sailing, but now there's $50 sitting there. I'm curious if it's only showing up as a promotion for the pre-cruise booking program, or if it would still be available for use on the ship. I didn't see anything clarifying in my cursory perusal of the terms and conditions on the pop-up.
