On Nov 15th in St.Thomas just before scheduled departure time, local police showed up and removed a pax. Just curious what happened.
Perhaps they were caught getting a drink for someone with their drinks package? Or worse, sneaking into YC.
Just kidding, but curious to know...

Yes, the Wellness experience must be a bust. Like I said, we booked a Fantastica suite with matching experience. I can't figure out why we were then just given a Wellness experience, but I guess I'll take it. I like the healthy eating options and MY CHOICE dining. I don't like not getting my 12 drink vouchers. Oh, and although I like to go to the gym, I sure as heck won't be going for any dr. check-up onboard. I do that when needed at home, and I can think of better ways to spend a cruise than in a dr.'s office having blood drawn.
Imagine if it were a fasting blood test!

Well, it seems to be all but confirmed that the Wellness stateroom category will be replaced by Aurea. MSC have added 'new deck plans valid from Summer 2019' on the individual ship's profiles, with all the former Wellness cabins re-categorised as Aurea. Interestingly, the Wellness interiors will become Fantastica - I'd thought that maybe interiors with Aurea experience would be added.

We're doing the Caribbean/Central America on Divina in March 2019 and staying onboard for the repo to the Med, JP, so that's not an option for us.
You did right to book the YC - I've noticed that the YC insides can sometimes work out better value than a Fantastica balcony when, as you say, you calculate the cost of a drinks package addition. I'd say you're going to have a fab time.
Wow, now you've made me jealous! At the end of that cruise I'd have to be dragged off as I wouldn't want to leave! Think nail marks across the deck...
-
Please do!
Seeing how terrific Seaside is looking, I'm sooooo tempted to book Seaview next year. If we weren't blowing the budget on Splendida's repo next March, I'd have it booked by now! Seaview's itinerary doesn't appeal, but I think the ship could be the destination in itself.
Bea there are some great offers on Seaside Caribbean next Winter. I ended up booking YC interior suite as it was better value than me booking Fantastica and getting the drinks package on top. I think at the moment interior and balcony are the same price...
I absolutely cannot wait, I don't know how I'm going to handle a year of looking at images and videos of Seaside as they emerge over the next months...!

Hey all,
MSC have just announced the name of their first Meraviglia-Plus class vessel, the MSC Grandiosa.
What do you guys think of the name, and some of the new features mentioned in the article below?

I loved the intro to opera on the Divina but admit that it's not for everyone and probably not for most younger kids. I think MSC is taking a chance with this show and will probably replace it with a different show if the reviews aren't good. Bob
Its funny you say that about young kids and opera. When on board Divina recently I went to see the 'Love Me' opera based on La Traviata, and noticed that four boys (aged around 10-13) had nabbed the four prime seats on the front row centre stage. I thought to myself 'well they won't appreciate that!'.
I've never seen four people look so enthralled and enthusiastic! That'll teach me to judge...!

Very excited to see this space in full! The vestibule seems to confirm that the deck atop the bridge will be YC exclusive. Al fresco dining here I come!

Definitely Bea. A possible direction would be splitting up the Wellness benefits amongst the Aurea and Yacht Club experiences - like with the Yacht Club Wellness cabins on board Meraviglia.

I found La Cantina di Bacco to be fairly quiet during most evenings, and has a lovely atmosphere well-suited to evening drinks. A fair number of people pass through on their way to the Photo Gallery or Villa Rossa restaurant, but this only meant it was good for people watching (particularly on Gala Nights).
My favourite bar on board was either La Luna just by the theatre - which meant it did get quite busy at peak times, but never overwhelmingly so.

Hi all,
Just noticed online in 'Compare MSC Experiences' that the Wellness Experience has an asterisk stating that '* THE WELLNESS EXPERIENCE WILL BE AVAILABLE UNTIL WINTER 2019'.
Do we think this means that MSC will no longer be offering this experience? If I'm honest I wouldn't blame them as I've never heard of anyone booking it!

17 is considered an unlucky number in Italy because - when written in Roman numerals - XVII is an anagram of VIXI which in Latin translates as 'I have lived' - implying death.

I think you will find that you are confusing Cunard with another line. Seabourn is not a part of Cunard and does not do Queens Grill.
Regards John.
I think you may have misread the above - Seabourn is part of the Carnival Corp and so operates as the small luxury ship offering within their broader portfolio. For a short while from 1999 into the millennium Seabourn and Cunard were ran as a single entity by Carnival.

You have to email them using this online form - their contact number is also on there, which is 1-877-665-4655.

My version of a Royal class cunarder!
Looks great! I had a go myself at creating a Royal class Cunarder - which I've named Cunard Queen Consort. It's interesting really how unusual a two stacked ship looks in Cunard's colours, as really they haven't had one in service since before QE2 entered service. Part of Cunard's 'look' now centres on the iconic single red funnel, and two looks a bit out of place.

Would love to watch it, but sadly can't seem to get access from the UK :(

MSC has the second worst website among cruise lines, surpassed only by Celebrity.
THANK YOU! Celebrity's was just awful - in the end I gave up and didn't bother looking any further at their cruises.

I'm sailing on Divina 4 Nov WC - I've just looked at noticed mine too has been changed from 2nd to 1st sitting. Although there is an option to 'change' it always reverts back. Not sure if this indicates a potential glitch and that original time may actually be what you get?
Either way, hope you get it sorted as I agree that 6:30 is far too early to eat.

Finding ugly ocean liners now has actually become quite fun (subjective of course!). I think I've found a few more offenders:
Orient Line's Strathaird, Viceroy of India and Strathnaver
Perhaps slightly more controversial, but I've never been partial to WSL's motor ships - Georgic, for example
-
Queen Berengaria, I rather like that, and the original ship was BEAUTIFUL. Come to think of it, were any of the ocean liners of yesteryear ugly in the same way as some modern cruise ships?
I can think of two: Royal Mail Line's Amazon (1959) and the French Line's Champlain (1932) - look at that funnel!
-
Still, it's interesting to look at Fincantieri's concepts for QV and QE - helps us to see what could have been and on some level appreciate the 4th Cunarder's design.
(Taken from Maurizio Eliseo's book on Queen Elizabeth)

I can't help but feel that in hindsight naming Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth was perhaps not the best idea as it limits the naming of future ships. Neither Queen Anne nor the names of any other consorts have either any form of resonance with the general public in name alone, or convey any unique historical period or style. Given the marketing focus that was placed on the significance of QV and QE's names, I can't imagine Cunard's PR team having an easy task communicating the 'golden age of erm, ... the last monarch of the House of Stuart...?'!
Either Cunard are betting on Catherine being Queen consort by the time they are to announce the name, or will just gamble on a name like Anne. Alternatively, they could of course use a classic Cunard name like Caronia, but this would just stick out amongst the Queens. Cunard certainly couldn't rename QV and QE Mauretania or Aquitania (neither of which really have any resonance either outside of fan circles), although perhaps they could try and make some of their more awkward 'ia'-ending names fashionable - Cunard Ultonia or Abyssinia, anyone?
Perhaps name the ship Cunarder Queen Mary, and rename QM2 something entirely new in recognition of its unique build? Controversial I know!
-
Alternatively, pretend you've walked into the wrong room!

Do the staff tend to leave the curtains pulled on the glass doors to the balconies when you enter your cabin for the first time?
I know this is a weird question but.....
This trip is a surprise for my wife and she doesn't even know we are doing a cruise until she arrives SOOOOOO i was just daydreaming how awesome it would be when she pulls the curtains to see the ocean. :) She has only ever had interiors before. :)
I read this too quickly and wondered to myself how on earth you were going to manage to get your wife onto the ship without her knowing! May I suggest a burlap sack? :')
A lovely surprise though. Try going up and around the ship so that she becomes disoriented, that way when you end up on one of the higher decks facing outwards she won't guess from cabin location alone!
