2 things I recommend (as do a ton of other folks)

#1 Bug Bite Thing - used PROPERLY (that means really reading the instructions and following them exactly). This item works on virtually any insect bite for removing a great deal of the irritant. Not 100% perfect, but it really does provide a huge relief.

#2 A Picaridin based insect repellent. Our choice (and many, many others) is Sawyer Products 20% Picaridin Insect Repellent. Two very specific benefits to using Picaridin. It doesn't ruin some fabrics like DEET based products. And this is HUGE - it doesn't stink like DEET based products. We are currently using the 4oz spray bottles, but I have also just purchased the 4 oz lotion to try.

Right now - the best value is the single bottle package of the 4 oz lotion. Currently $5.97 (or $1.49 per ounce) I just ordered - and received single package 4 bottles.

Thank you so much for this, I am buying both immediately.  Mosquitos eat me and my son alive - I will take anything that can help.  We are doing a rainforest walk in Ketchikan and a hike in Skagway.  Hopefully its still cool enough that there aren't too many around.

Let me know if you were able to secure transport with Princess.  I was advised that a poster had trouble with it.  So I am curious.  Thanks

@Italy52 we have moved our flight to leave out of Seattle and we were indeed able to book a shuttle through Princess from Vancouver to SEA-TAC.  Thank you so much.  We had to call to make the arrangements.  We booked our flights through Princess though so once we moved our flight we had them add the shuttle.  Feeling much more calm about the disembarkation now.

We found out that Princess offered a shuttle/transfer service (bus) from the Seattle Airport to the Vancouver Pier (Canada Place) and the Vancouver Pier to the Seattle Airport.  We had our travel agent make the arrangements directly with Princess as this was not something we could book ourselves.

Thank you so much!  Will be looking into this asap.  We booked the Quick Shuttle as a back-up but would def prefer Princess.

Agree.  We altered our Vancouver-Vancouver plans this year.  Still going on the cruise but taking the Princess Shuttle out of Seattle and back.  Not the most ideal situation but think it will be less hassle at the border and at the airport.

Hi @Italy52 - What is the princess shuttle out of Seattle?  We are suppose to fly out of Vancouver after our cruise and are now thinking that may not be the best idea.  Is there a shuttle to the Seattle airport?

My most recent Princess cruise (one month ago), the ship changed its time to match port time in both Mazatlán and PV.  But it seems to be up to the captain, and (as is customary with Princess) it varies from ship to ship (and perhaps from voyage to voyage).

The cabin steward will let you know by means of a small slip of paper "reminding" you to change your clocks.

Thank you !!  I will pray that we don't lose that hour over NYE!

  6. Thank you both for the info. I will check the Princess Board but sounds like I may just have to wait to see what our ship does. And you are right Mike45, it is San Pedro!  Your time changes do seem very confusing.  I was just hoping to avoid a time change on New Years Eve with our early excursion.  Guess we can sleep on our 2 sea days home 🙂

  7. We are going on the Royal Princess out of Long Beach over New Years.  We have Mazatlan New Years Eve (1 hour time difference from Long Beach) and then PV on New Years Day (2 hours later than Long Beach).   Has anyone been on Princess recently and can tell me if they will be changing the time between Mazatlan and PV?

I am hoping not because we will lose an hour of sleep on New Years Eve night and excursions are early that next morning!!

    Thank you!!

  8. Is the Melia Me kid friendly? We are there on 12/30 and have a 10 year old with us.  I checked Breathless and it is adults only. Any other day pass recs that are kid friendly?  We have 4 ships in port that day and all our cruise excursions are sold out!
