We are on the Whisper in July. A previous post said there was no Arts Cafe on the Whisper refit. As that been changed ?

Just off the Whisper and can confirm that there is a small ‘Arts cafe’

The cafe is sited on deck 5 between the boutique area, future cruises and customer service’s desk.

According to the attached deck plan dated as from 10th May 2024, no Arts café but indeed a larger La Dame. More outdoor space to dine.

No information on suite refurbishment as the pictures are the same compared to the previous version of deck plans.

Keen for any update on the refurbishment as we are booked for end of year sailing out of Singapore and feel that the current layout is outdated.

Just off the whisper. There is now a ‘Arts cafe’ situated at deck 5 along with the boutique area which is limited and on the high end. You will need to remember to bring everything you need as those little things like suntan lotion, toothpaste etc was not available. As for suites it does not appear that anything has been done at least in veranda cabins, in fact in our cabin 3 of the four lampshades were torn. There was a lot of new staff on board with more arriving in several of the port stops. We would now rate Silversea as a premium line as opposed to luxury and as such it is the first time we never booked a future cruise and are now looking else where.

Whisper has a cruise ending in Athens on April 6th; her next cruise shows leaving Civitavecchia on May 10th.  So it's a month for the the renovation/dry dock.  There is a little information on intended changes on the thread mentioned above.

    Hi,

we are booked on the 10th May cruise which is leaving from ‘Venice’ With regard to the refit other than providing a small arts cafe in the library/ connoisseur area it is generally just fixtures and fittings in public areas. I am not sure if this is going to include suite areas. The only issue I have is being the first sailing after a dry dock and will all work be finished.

Still waiting for my final documents to be emailed to us but been told that they are sent out 15/30 days before departure, is anyone else waiting for theirs as some friendson same cruise received theirs 10 days ago, I assumed that they would send them out at the same time. Slightly concerned the delay might be because they are thinking ofcancelling or rerouting the cruise.

Also, seems to be a thread that is saying that the Silver Moon will now sail from Muscat on January 6th to Dubai!!  How can that be if they are disembarking us in Aqaba on January 6th.

    Hi,

I am on the 22/12/23 sailing from Athens. If you go to the thread regarding the sailing for 6/1/24 and go to post #22 you will see that I posted my e doc. for the December cruise.Try checking your junk mail as yours may be there.

  5. Hi All,

Whilst I am not on this cruise but the 22/12/2023, I have been following this tread with interest. We have just received this morning 22/11/2023 our final cruise document from Silversea via our TA, this is showing that the cruise is disembarking in Aqaba. This does not help alleviate everyone’s concerns as it would appear that the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.

I received this from my TA today:

I have just spoken with Silversea and they have advised that there will be itinerary changes on your sailing, however they do not have definite details yet, but hope to have the information in the next few days.

She said she will get back to me on Monday.

    Hi

Having looked at the itinerary for the Jan 6 cruise,I suspect that like the cruise of Dec 22 that the Egypt ports of call will be cancelled.

Silversea told me on phone today that cruise will not be departing from Aqaba but now from muscat. But agent said no itinerary was known yet for this Jan 06 cruise. Do any other passenger on this cruise know more.

    Hi,

Hopfully the information you have received is erroneous. We are are on the cruise that is scheduled to disembark on the 6th January 2024 in Aqaba. To date we have not been informed of any change to the disembarking port. As we have a tour booked for Jordan, and our flights booked from Amman(Not with Silversea) disembarking in Muscat will cause severe problems.

But what about for the Silver Moon sailing down the Suez Canal, doing Luxor and southern Jordan, etc.??

    Hi,

We are on the Moon for the Suez transit in December, and have been informed that Alexandria has been substituted however the stops in Safaga, Sharm and into Aqaba are still going ahead. That is not to say that if things deteriorated even more that these are not cancelled at a later date. This cruise was booked solely for the Suez transit as we had to cancel our planned Panama Canal cruise. We have done the Greek islands to death do not wish to sail them again. Fingers crossed that no further changes are made.

  9. Hi

It been a couple of years since we were in Malta. Assuming you are docking below Battery Gardens, take the lift up €1-2,walk through to the main thoroughfare and turn left. A10 minute walk will get you to the main bus station from there you can take the bus(approx 45 mins) or there is a taxi rank and I believe it approx €20 to Marsaxlokk.

  10. Hi,

I am hoping this is all speculation as I have my flights booked (Non refundable) hotel in Greece also non refundable. We also have a 5 night 6 day tour of Wadi Rum,Petra etc booked which has cancellation penalties. This cruise was booked in lieu of a Panama cruise we cancelled due to the closure of Machu Picchu. Both of these cruises were on our bucket list and we are going to be very disappointed if it does not go ahead. I suppose all any of us can do is wait and see.

One thing to be careful of in your Scottish ports is that whilst Scotland uses the British pound they actually produce their own bank notes which are different to those in Wales, England and N Ireland. They are legal currency in the other 3 countries but a lot of shops are reluctant to accept them so if you get any, change them in a bank in the UK as I would think the US banks might not change them for you. Also, all bank notes in the UK should be polymer not paper so make sure you get the 'plasticky' ones 😁 they are also different colours and sizes so it makes it easier to differentiate between them.

Hi Be aware that Northern Ireland(Belfast) also issue it’s own bank notes. Like Scottish notes you may have difficulty using them in the rest of the UK although they are legal Tender. That aside you will find atms in NI that will dispense Euros.

  12. Hi

I was on the Silver Moon 08/29/2022 and made some purchases and used the tax rebate on the ship at the end of the cruise. I used my card to have the rebate credited back to me. I have since had some fraudulent payments taken from my account. This has nothing to do with Silversea or the ship. If I am recalling correctly these refunds were to be processed by company in Poland, which just happens to be were the fraudulent charges were carried out. Maybe I am putting 2+2 together and coming up with 5 but this is really just a heads up to anyone else that may of used this facility.

I just spoke with Azamara rep.  No changes on Greece policy.  He said just show up at port and if test is still needed, we can provide.  Will continue to monitor situation as some cruise lines are more proactive in changing the rules on their websites.

    Hi,

Yes Azamara can provide the test for a fee $59.00 however testing is available in Athens for €10/20 so if there is no announcement by Azamara test before going to the port if you can.

I am reading that the port of Athens has dropped this test as of last night (Friday 23rd September). This could be a great relief to those of us who want to simply test before we leave home.

    Hi,

we will be embarking on the 27th October, can you provide a link regarding testing? I have just checked the Azamara site and that is still showing testing required. Has anyone received a communication from Azamara confirming that testing is no longer required? It will be a great relief if true.

I am to board the Voyager on June 6 in Barcelona.  I am coming from the US so I need to fill out the heath form on the SpTH portal.  I filled out the first part of the for on May 1 and received notification that the first part was accepted but I could only answer the health questions two days prior to my arrival in Spain.  Regent Air changed my flight to Spain so I went into the site to change the flight information.  In order to return to the form I was requested to enter my passport number, the Form Code (hich they sent me), and a Security Code which I have no idea where that comes from.  I may be that the system will not allow me in until June 3, but I am concerned about filling out the form if there is an extra code which I do not have.

Does anyone who has gone through Spain to board a ship have any suggestions or word on their experience with this form

    Hi,

If I recall correctly the security number you require would be in the email that was sent to you following the initial application. With regard to the PLF    It may still be required dependant on the country of origin. Enjoy your cruise and don’t fret the paperwork.

    @Boatmans Lady Excellent job

@Jennefer Teegen I hope Regent (Corporate) realises the pre-cruise 'diy crafting' that Regent(UK) is imposing on its customers.

    Embarrassing or what?

    Hello All,

Future Regent News. After the introduction of not giving luggage tags until arrival at the port of embarkation, it was found that after some initial teething troubles, it has been deemed to have been a great success. As a result of this, all cruise documentation will be via email and luggage tags will be issued to all passengers at the port of embarkation. We are sure that our passengers will find this to be beneficial for all going forwards.😀

  17. Hi All

with regard to luggage tags, I have just found this archived email.

    Let me add some information.

As I reported previously we had the full packs delivered (in the U.K.) from Regent, via our TA, in time for both our December 2021 cruises.

For Mariner the wallet contained the old style strip/sticky labels.

For Splendor we had the triangular slit style. At the time we assumed it was a “Splendor” thing, with Regent trying to be different for the newest ship.

Let’s hope Regent(U.K.) is getting the message that luggage labels delivered in advance is a necessary part of the pre-cruise service that customers expect to continue as previously.

Either label type is perfectly acceptable. I am not in favour of diy “print-at-home” arrangements.

Hi All, I was with my TA yesterday to pick up my travel pack. My TA went through it and telephoned Regent regarding luggage tags and there was two answers given. The first was Covid, the second was they are trialing a ‘new system’ I.e. giving tags at the port. With this they are going to seek feed back. So the long and short of it is either wait until you get to the port or make your own.

We received ours about 10 days ago for the 3-25 Voyager cruise from Civitavecchia.

We are on the same cruise, nowt, zilch, nada, maybe Uk passengers just get an inferior product. Given the relative costs of the cruise a few extra pennies to print luggage tags would send Regent into bankruptcy 😋

I have read this morning that Italy will update on the 15th March, so that gives us 10 days.

We are now getting organised, like confirming the cats stay in the cattery, getting some euros for incidentals, have brought some FFP2 masks as Italy requires them worn on flights and thinking about clothes. We are thinking layers.

Beginning to believe this cruise will go 😀

    Hi Boatlady,

Found this so it would seem that there would be only Regents test to jump through. I think We will be getting a PCR before leaving for Italy as it would be easier quarantining at home if testing positive.
here’s a link to a statement regarding testing for Italy. https://www.itij.com/latest/news/italy-ease-covid-entry-requirements
